Can I highly recommend you change the hot side intercooler piping, from turbo to cooler, when you start putting boost into it, the factory ones will split with more boost.

Mitch's kits are awesome! ive got one on mine and painted it black. Sounds unbelievably good. still puts a smile on my face every time my windows are down and its sucking hard. youll notice too the boost pressure will be a bit higher. i noticed mine went from 8-9psi up to almost a constant 10, sometimes a bit more. Also with the engine bay colours, i painted my exhaust manifold cover black, with some exhaust/engine paint, now that its more visible without the cross over pipe there. ties it all together nicely. awesome job!

With the black coolant overflow bottle you wont be able to see the coolant level without removing the cap? Where is this air intake dragging its air from the factory one seems to be more likely to get cooler air than the aftermarket which seems to drag it from inside the engine bay beside the turbo where it is more likely to be much hotter air?

Fyi when talking left and right on a car pretend you're driving it, not looking in the engine bay. Your new airbox sits on the right side, battery will sit on the left side. Also i have never ran a bov on any turbo cars ive owned over the last 10 yeard and ive never had to replace a turbo because of it. Pro tip leave the factory bov in the engine bay with the factory hose to it and the facfory reference line but ram a coke bottle cap into the hose in between the coldside pipe and the bov. Cant see it from the outside and the car still "looks" perfectly epa legal

You only need to worry about flutter when you're on it. If it's chopping while you're boosting that means you don't have enough intake.

Hey Zac is it just the turbo side intake that does this? I have an fg xr6t & I’m trying to get the flutter I’m also using a 25mm turbo smart bov, venting to atmosphere but not getting anything like this?

Not sure if you still need this answered, but the flutter is from the compressed air trying to make its way back through the turbo once the throttle body is closed (let off the throttle)- if your BOV is set to vent all excess pressure to atmosphere, then there is going to be no pressure trying to make its way back through the turbo. Try adding a blocking plate or reduce the amount of pressure being vented to atmosphere and you should here it flutter. Cheers.

Nah man, no need for a tune with a turbo side, he will deffs need to if he goes bigger dump, HF cat, injectors ect which he probs has in the pipeworks somewere haha

What did you do with the pipes/tubes coming out of the top of the head? Specifically the one with the elbow joint followed by around 3 inches of black tube around 12mm wide.

Probably look better if you turned the battery so the positive wire isnt crossing over and can be hidden more so the shorter negative goes towards the inside of the bay

I’m currently doing the swap on my fg an I’m having trouble fitting the pieces from the turbo to intake have a few things in the way such as intercooler pipe an a plug for the power steering how’d you go about it ?

Push the PS line down a small tad, dont press to hard but the PS line will bend slightly to allow for the install.

Remove the intercooler pipe that connects to the top of the turbo in order to install. Re attach this piece once you install the side intake.

My car is like ur car but with different exhaust and no cold air intake but it is Manuel and it doesn’t sound like ur car Every time I shift the gear I hear the turbo flutter and I hear the air going in the engine but I don’t get that engine screaming. Btw I have stock turbo Any tips zack and btw I forgot to mention that my car is a ford falcon 50th anniversary 6gears

Manuals = good for sick clutch kicks. Auto zf6 = win the race with nice smooth shifts not to mention ya cant miss a gear in an auto 🤣🤣 a barra with a heavy clutch is shithouse in traffic

The flutter comes when you remove bov and plug the pipes.

Random Q, not sure if anyone known. The stock FG XR6T cross over has a pod filter shape in the pipe mould just before the turbo intake....does that serve a purpose? Is there another filter there after the air box and before the turbo? Apologies for the random question.

That cone shape object you see is a muffler to remove some of the whine and turbo spool noise which can get annoying for the average motorist. You can replace it with a simple piece of alloy or silicon pipe if you want to hear a louder whining.

Air intake with a blocked valve. The kit depicted above comes with a door stopper and hose clamp to assist.

The stock ECU on these cars adjust very well. The vehicle in my opinion, and speaking with several tuners, would be capable of adjusting to a new intercooler and pipe kit also with nil issues.

Hi mate, Good video, car looks and sounds great Just wanted to say about the rust issue, any time you drill into your car or sand it for a grounding connection, if you don't paint/or seal it you will eventually get rust forming. Just thought I would mention that as you where talking about rust. Its a pain in the ass as you have to wait for the paint to dry overnight, but well worth doing if you plan on owning the car a long time. A dab on a small brush or your finger is all you need, no masking needed Keep up the good work
