Having build and modified lots of weekend race warriors, i will say that the rea diff cover is a very nice piece of engineering , as you well know the rx8 and nc miata have torque bars which you may not know take the diff head reaction away from the rear subframe , now you are fitting an engine with 10 times the torque ( at 1000rpm ) but not only feeding all that torque into a subframe " not " designed to take that rotation, second screw up! The diff is designed with 2 front ears to control the twisting of the torque these ears from standard are bolted through a bracket either side of the ears, , now all the torque is past through one ear (1/2) and one mount bracket (1/4) , plus an unstrengtend subframe, its a situation that will look good but will rip apart the first time you get wheel hop. 😢 the reason i watched this is that i am bujlding a cobra and using rx8 suspension front and rear on tubular subframes using a nissan 3.6 lsd diff head, and 54 years of mechanical expirience from " build not bought projects

So does the rear diff come as part of the kid or is that separate. Does anyone have a list of items that are needed besides the kit.

There is a video here on youtube, where a guy shows a method to lowering the driver seat by 1.5 inch. You only need 2 longer bolts to do that.
@trackcarobsession6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'll check it out. I saw a post about it on a forum, but a video is usually better.

It was a good idea using the lfx for the nicer of the 2 examples.

Will those BC coils ride any good? 🤨 there shocks have very little stroke, its alarming.
@trackcarobsession6 жыл бұрын
I agree. It frees up some ideas for the race car, and I think it should make for a great daily driver with this engine. As for the coilovers, I'm hoping they work out. I wasn't originally planning on buying them, but I caught them on a sale that made them 50% less than the cost of the coilovers I was originally planning on buying. Couldn't really find any in depth reviews of them. I will post an update video on them once I get some road, track, and autox miles on them.

Where can I purchase this kit
@trackcarobsession5 жыл бұрын
Keisler Automation is the company that makes it. I believe there are some parts for sale on their website, but you will need to contact the owner Andrew to see if the full kit is available for purchase yet.

Do you know what gear ratio is in that new diff?
@trackcarobsession5 жыл бұрын
It's either a 3.27 or a 3.45, but I can't remember at this moment. I'll have to get back to you on that one.
@DanMarcelino5 жыл бұрын
Track Car Obsession ohh wow thanks for the reply btw, did you do this swap for economy?
@charliee43685 жыл бұрын
I’m sure he did this swap for strength and gear ratio, calm it down from the oem rx8 4.50+ ratio.
@DanMarcelino5 жыл бұрын
Charlie E the stock ratio (for series 1) is 4.44
@charliee43685 жыл бұрын
#RideLife regardless of that anything above 4 for a gear ratio in a street rx8 is not fun ((for some people)) for drivability.

As of right now it is the new rear suspension for the white track car, but that may change in the future.

removing the engine and transmision together i easier drop the front subframe thats the easiest way to get engine and subframe out
@trackcarobsession6 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. I put the new engine in from the bottom, but it is difficult in my driveway because the asphalt is very uneven and makes it tough keeping everything straight. I should have recommended that instead of going out the top. Thanks for the input
