Installing New Custom Bucket Seats for My AMG GT R Roadster! Decat GT Black Series SURPRISE

It's finally time to visit Opus with my AMG GT R Roadster to install the bucket seats! As well as checking out the weight savings, there's a surprise to check out the decat GT Black Series on the dyno, wow!
It was always the intention to upgrade the seats in my GT R Roadster to the same buckets as the GT R Coupe and also in my SLS Black Series and GT Black Series, however this was not an option directly from new. Late last year therefore, I ordered a set of seats which have been kept with Opus at the Nürburgring since, unfortunately not being possible to install them before now due to travel restrictions and scheduling clashes.
However, it's now the time to get this done! The process is not so simple as the electric steering column is also controlled by the same ECU as the driver seat, so removing it means additional ECUs and coding is required to make it all work. In the meantime, after seeing the extraordinary difference in weight of the bucket seat vs the standard AMG Performance Seat from 27kg to 12kg, we've also got the Opus GT Black Series is all about.
Opus have made the car decat to see the results, and give us an opportunity to hear the sound! On the dyno, it really allows the GT Black Series to sound as good as it looks, plus the added bonus of flames on every downshift!
Needless to say, I've now got some thinking to do about upgrades to my GT Black Series!

No secret I've not been the biggest fan of the regular seats and always intended to get this upgrade done! Now we're at Opus for the buckets to go into my GT R Roadster, and the pleasant surprise of a run with their decat GT Black Series on the dyno... I might have to do something like this to mine!

Major thx for all the amazing content Tim. Btw: u mentioned the severe flooding. Have you heard or seen any of the terrible wildfires happening across lower EU? Greece, Italy, Spain & France have been hit the hardest I believe. Similar to the California wildfires the US is constantly dealing with.

@@HammerRocks , They are not bad as far as performance seats go. I have them in my car. I would not be able to live with those replacement buckets though. Different seats work for different people. There are also some super comfortable seats that give me a back ache after 30 minutes due to the bolster design.

It is very valuable to learn the details of changing parts in modern automobiles. Even the seats have interface with other aspects of the car and require computer handshaking to function correctly.

As a German and also Sportscar Owner (started with a Used 2011 Nissan GT-R which i drove through all of Europe without ever having an Issue, now 10 Years later waiting to pick up my AMG GT Black Series soon! Anyway, to my Point, i just saw your Roadtrip Video here to Germany and immediately came here to leave a Comment, because when i reached the Autobahn Section the first thing i said was "Oh Gott" but then was positively surprised that you actually drive 100% EXACTLY as youre supposed to on our lovely Autobahn. I can't tell you how often i've seen foreign Sportscar Drivers who hogged the left lane even if some random Golf R or Audi RS3 came from behind at a higher Speed, you see this even in Videos from Foreign Seasoned Car Journalists & yes, also Foreign KZbinrs with Sportscars who come here to Germany and then don't stick to the proper Autobahn Etiquette. Often it seems like they either don't realise that here you always make Room and after you have overtaken someone from the Left you immediately go back to the Center or Right Lane afterwards if it's empty, even if you go super fast. And sometimes i get the Feeling that they might be aware of this but are too proud to make Room for a Random VW, Audi, Skoda or whatever that is approaching from behind faster than the 200km/h they're driving in their Lamborghini Aventador or whatever Car. So seeing you drive the proper Way despite not being German and making Room for any Car deserves Respect I wish more Non-German KZbinrs, Car Journalists etc. would learn a thing or two from you regarding Autobahn Etiquette Prost & Cheers from the Berchtesgadener Land in the Bavarian Alps

Hello Shmee! You should have gone for Mercedes‘ „multi contour“ seats,because they are the best of both worlds. They hug you only in corners,and are very comfortable the rest of the time,and the bladders inside the seat can cater for every body.
