My friends over at RSNV reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to try out a set of their wing risers so, of course I said yes! These things are really sweet and might just be better machined than the OEM risers. Install is extremely easy and gives the GT4 a much more aggressive look.

For a long time I was a huge fan of the GT3 RS and Cayman GT4, and didnt know which one I liked better because they are both so great. However, I remember seeing a Cayman GT4 in person for the first time .. and I remember not being amazed. I looked at the wing, and I was like .. huhh. This car looks so small. :o It's almost like the wing looks bigger in pictures, I don't even know. Or the GT3 just got my hopes up. But I remember always seeing a GT3 RS in person, and it literally makes me say WOW. And I'm not even the biggest fan of big wings. But it just looks right on a GT3 RS and a car like a Cayman GT4. So I'm glad you were able to do this modification. :) Nice work

You definitely do a thorough job but I have one suggestion. When assembling the wing back on, it’s probably a good idea to put a rag underneath just in case one of the bolts falls out of your hands so it does not scratch the paint

Great tip, that’s what we typically do. The bolts are light enough to not really damage anything but washers get lost easily!

Hi Matt. Could a rear wing delete be done on the GT4? I guess you would need some vanity panels to cover the holes on the back, but would you need to compensate heavily on the front spliiter to adjust the downforce? Was imagining a home made GT4 touring-would still be fast etc but more discrete

Raising the wing 3” inches had no discernible impact on downforce. Takes 6” rise to get the wing above the roofline and then turn the angle using the 3 degree hole option, then you get downforce. The RSNV are cosmetic.

Doesn't that un-balance the car Front/Rear? I think you should have done some high speed testing stock and then do this mod after you know how if feels stock at speeds where aero is effective.

Unbalance in terms of aero/downforce? No, because this is simply a riser kit. Assuming they don't change the angle of the wing, it'd have 0 effect on the downforce. It might be a little better in terms of air flow though - potentially cleaner air the farther up you go above the car (ie. why you see some race cars with wings mounted 2 feet above the trunk).

Only if you use the 3 degree angle adjustment on the wing hardware. If you use the higher angle, Porsche sys remove the front diffuser blocks. I can provide pics if you need them

Upon further research, the 3” increase in height of these risers has NO discernible impact on downforce. If you do not get slightly above the roof line, there is not much additional air hitting the airfoil to create downforce. Getting slightly above the roof line and using the Porsche provided hole on the upper rear bolt (the lower cutout) that rotates the wing forward at the leading edge creates 3 additional degrees in the angle of attack, creating substantial additional rear end downforce. The RSNV risers are, therefore, cosmetic (but if when you do mount them and you use the Porsche provided hole, you will get additional downforce, just not due to the RSNV risers, rather due to the increased angle of attack). Aerodynamics and math for friction coefficient and drag, it ain’t that complicated. Just like a wing on an aircraft, differential pressure. Again, with the 6” rise and the 3 additional degrees in the angle of attack you must remove the front diffuser blocks to balance the car. Removing the front diffuser blocks creates the front end down force necessary to plant the front of the car and balance it. If you do not remove the blocks, the air flow in and through the front end does not change and the wing angle creating rear end downforce will create front end lift, just like an airplane, At speed, the imbalance can, under the right air flow circumstances, can be enough lift to create imbalance. Imbalance is always potential disaster. Think of a heavier person on the end of a teetertotter, Most will never see the difference unless they track it, but it is discernable on the track. Since I am not an aerospace engineer, I strongly recommend anyone doing this consult Porsche and reference the booklet that came with your GT4, which does discuss the necessary adjustments for the additional downforce. DO NOT USE MY EXPLANATION!

@@jamesbaggaley1460 exactly, Porsche spent a lot of time and money to dial in the front to rear downforce balance so if these actually do increase rear downforce, what are you doing to the front to compensate? BTW, I doubt they really do much and it’s highly likely they reduce downforce. If someone has done a wind tunnel test then I’ll stand corrected. Otherwise this is purely cosmetic.

The uniden R7 is obsolete put in the escort redline 360c , KZbin channel vortex only goes with the new valentine or escort nobody speaks about the R7 anymore , the bsm filtering isn’t good on the R7. Keep up the videos though watch them daily 👍🏻

Easier to use risers from autoquest motorsports at 1/3 cost and no de-install of mounts. They are extensions that look just as cool. www.autoquestcars.com/custom-06. Also the reply that the angle of attack does not affect stability is incorrect. If you use the upper bolt holes, it changes the angle of attack by 3 degrees and you should remove the front diffuser blocks to balance the car. There is a significant change in downforce with 3 degrees and the car will be less balanced. That is why Porsche says to remove the insert from front diffusor.

And therein lies the reason for options. Form, fit, function, performance, looks. Looks rank last on the list and.one has to get real close to see that difference. And while most might like logos on their stuff, honestly, Porsche should be the only logo on a Porsche. Your product is quality and I appreciate that, but it is not worth the 66% price difference when looks is the only variance that differentiates it.

Wes Smith If it’s not for you, it’s not for you, no problem. But those extenders are worthless to most owners. Full risers feel OEM+. Those are hacked together. Honestly, their margin % has to be higher based on the simplicity of manufacturing those. No hate towards them, just different buyers. Far higher. They’re much more complex than you’d guess until having them in your hands. Look at how we compare to our competitors on price/quality. We sell direct to consumer, no wholesale to cut out insane markups. They are 5-axis CNC’d from billet 6061 with extremely high tolerances - nothing is straight, everything is angled from the mounting holes, to the angles of the riser, to perfectly meeting the wing mounting points and maintaining AOA. Until you look at the car you’d think everything is just straight, but it’s not. Quite a complex shape.
