My Amazing 718 Porsche GT4 Delivery Experience - E3: Decon

The GT4 adventure continues! It's time for Decon and since this is a new car, it's fairly straightforward. I go through my usual steps of washing with the OG decon soap, removing the iron contamination and claying to get it ready for polishing. Decon is one of the most important parts since it removes all the contamination from the paint before you begin polishing.

Do you have specific settings for your pressure washer for the paint versus the wheels? I just ordered a pressure washer and was wondering what setting is best so I don’t hurt the paint. Thanks.

I keep it all at the same pressure. Right around 1000 PSI. You do that by choosing the correct orifice size.

Just a light roll on the paint with a lube, right? I always feel when I clay that it’s hard to tell if I’m picking up anything. Any advice on that?

Yes, the only difference is that you need to be aware of the edges. Other than that, do the same as paint.

Yes, it's a synthetic/rubber-ish equivalent to the old clay bar. The benefit of these is they can be reused multiple times and if you drop it on the ground, you can just rinse it off.

What Kyle said and it also takes much less time to finish the whole car with the sponge. It used to take me 30 min. to clay a sedan. With the autoscrub, takes me 10 min.

I dont really understand why you clay even when its not rough. A comment about the bugremover too. Foam is alkaline atleast what i use and it will get the bugs away. But if you have a bugremover its usually alkaline but more concentrated soo no it does not remove protection
