Looks like its an 07+ crv rear differential. I remember reading that those have a spring to help the rear differential to activate faster.

Hi my friend those plates are good off road there are like rear locker 100% or just they are more quikly for the awd system to the front on the back

It makes it to where you have actual AWD and not just FWD until the front slips.

There are so many FWD RD1's I see driving around but not so many AWD's. When I'm at the salvage yard and I see AWD differentials I think about snatching them up but I don't know what all I would need to convert a FWD, if its cost effective, or if I really want to get into that. I just hate knowing they are going to get smashed. My RD1 was supposed to get me to the range and back, now I've fallen down the Honda rabbit hole and all I want is more Honda's.
@hondaresource3 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming yours is fwd auto?
@mybrotherscout36613 жыл бұрын
No, mine is AWD. I'm thinking about buying another RD1 and converting it from FWD to AWD just to learn how to do it, if it's not going to cost too much.
@Schnippen_Schnappen12 жыл бұрын
So this makes it mostly RWD OR full time AWD? How’s the tire chirping on tight corners from being 4WD or 3WD? I’m confused 🤔
@hondaresource2 жыл бұрын
This will make it true AWD but you will need a viscous coupler
@nicholashaddad86593 жыл бұрын
If I have an rd1 diff can I put these locking plates in my awd crv ('01) and have full time awd or I guess in this case 4wd? It will be connected to my 5 speed trans.
@hondaresource3 жыл бұрын
yes. You will need a viscous coupler though.
@johnnyplurlife2 жыл бұрын
What's up bro was reading the comments and was wondering why would you need a viscous coupler if the RD1s come with one stock?
@hondaresource2 жыл бұрын
Rd1 doesn't have a viscous. The rear had a clutch pack, now you eliminated that. The viscous allows some slip when turning and compensates for difference in gear ratios.

it bypasses the clutches and dual pump system that comes factory inside the diff to make it full time awd.

Hey bro, I just got a po730 gear ratio code on my rd1 cr-v. My most recent mod was a upgraded differential from a 2009 or 2011 crv. This was about a week ago. After the swap my V was driving great. It was hooking beter than it ever did. Now it's kind of stuttering to shift and jumping. All this started today with code. Do you have any ideas on what it might be or something I should try? Really appreciate any help or advice. My V is automatic btw.
@hondaresource3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it has anything to do with your rear diff. How long has it been since you serviced the trans?
@mostwantedmali46773 жыл бұрын
I bought it almost a year ago. With 200,000 miles. I put new fluid in it a little bit after I got it. Was struggling to shift gears before. After I swapped out the fluid ran great, until now.

@@hondaresource today I put all new honda oem atf and erased the code. Took it for a drive, and the code came back. Removed the solenoid on top to see if it was dirty, but it was clean. It sounds like its staying in one gear now.
