This is great! I have a 2wd and found a 4wd at a junkyard that sold me the rear diff and drive shaft for $120! All I was waiting for was how to convert the transmission and this video showed me how! thank you so much! FYI, I would set some solid spacers on your shaft mount between the bolt and frame for added strength and prevent the studs from bending.

This is probably a dumb question, but are the wheel bearings different in the AWD version from the FWD version? As in, would I need to replace the wheel bearings as well to fit the axles.

Nope. The rear has an axle stub on the FWD version. The axle stub keeps the wheel bearing together just like the actual axle on the AWD version.

@hondaresource2 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the SC, I haven't had one to look at. That's true that Honda's AWD isn't true AWD. The rear doesn't engage until the front slips
@JDMKing54642 жыл бұрын
@@hondaresource so would you say converting it with regular all-wheel drive components from the element would be worth it in the long run making the SC AWD
@rudyzanet38612 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely worth it. After driving my awd automatic Element in the snow and comparing jt to how my fwd manual SC spun and spun in the snow, I will not put up with fwd anymore. I picked up a CRV manual awd transmission and I intend to pull the needed parts from it to convert my sc transmission to awd and do the 6th gear conversion at the same time. In my experience, in the winter, the awd Element is way better than a fwd Element. 👌🏽

Hi! I'm seeing if it is feasible to convert a 2003 auto AWD Element to manual AWD. My situation is I have new looking 2003 manual FWD (with bad underbody corrosion) and would like to buy a 2003 auto AWD but convert it to manual AWD. I am aware of everything else that has to be moved over but I am unsure of how to handle the manual FWD transmission. I'm guessing I need a manual transfer case and a ring gear. Is there anything else I need to do to the FWD manual transmission? Thanks.
@IntegraDIY26 күн бұрын
that would be easy, you’ll need a lot of parts tho to track down. manual awd 5spd, clutch and flywheel, clutch cables, shifter box, clutch pedal assembly. and random hardware

I have an element Halloween horror story my alternator went, it killed my battery. luckily my battery is still under 100% warranty so I got that replaced for free. But when I started taking everything apart to get tested. I found out my fans had no bolts in them, so it made it easy to take out to access other areas then I removed the battery and the housing I discovered the welds have rusted off like I was holding a piece of Elmer's glue in my hand so then I decided to change the thermostat since I could get to it. took wayyyy to long but I got it back on (such horrible placement) Then since all the paint is chipping off the engine I was cleaning it up and then I decided to change the spark plugs, when I got to the spark plugs I saw there were NO BOLTS holding in the boots for the spark plugs....
@SuburbanBeard2 жыл бұрын
I am currently on the hunt for a good deal on an alternator and advance auto parts seems to have the best pricing as far as an easy pickup. I am afraid to go used (not remanufactured but used) I don't want to have to do this again for awhile. Before this happened I was in the middle or replacing the ignition switch, keys and dreading replacing the door locks i also upgraded all dash and climate control lights with led and painted all my dash pieces for a new look
@SuburbanBeard2 жыл бұрын
so as of now i need to install a battery, alternator, plugs, fans, all dash components and plastic, muffler, rear struts, front upper control arm bar, trailer wiring, additional 12v port and plugs and figure out how to properly clean and repaint the engine without having to remove it. OHH and how to properly and safely fix all the major rust in the engine bay. at this point im starting to think i should sell it for parts and buy another one lol If anyone is in the cleveland area hit me up if you are bored and want to help a fellow elemental!
