Awesome video! I wish I saw this video before I installed my camera system. You did a great job explaining everything. Thank you!

As of Jan 2021 I bought the 3 camera system with the shark fin and the side light now come with LED’s which is nice. Everyone seems to think you need a magnetic screwdriver for those tiny screws but mine are non ferrous so the magnetic screwdriver doesn’t help.

Thanks for the review. When the video first started I was ready to order one. But after pointing out the glitches I decided to wait. The Furrion I have now is fine. Once they get the bugs out I’ll upgrade. I’d really like to have the side cameras.

Overall, I like the new system. The real issue though is lack of a good manual. For example, it does not state which cameras work with the motion detection. Also, the fact that turning the motion detection on might mean the camera is blanked until someone walked by. I just did not try all of the scenarios, so it might simply be that the system is not configured properly. But Furrion is on the hook to produce a comprehensive manual; far be-it for an owner to have to figure it out (but that might mean a couple more RV-Project videos on how to use it). The return from multi-screen to single screen is the real issue though. On the other hand, the left-right cameras in the multi-screen are a bit distorted and tiny, so at some point, you would want a single screen anyway. So I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Thanks for the video. I need an adapter to connect the cable of the camera with the cable that is installed in the RV. Where do I get that adapter and what is it technically called
@RVProject3 жыл бұрын
If the mount was pre-installed by the mfg, remove the cover and chances are is already a connector in that spot for the camera.

Thanks for the video. It’s been 2 years. Did Furrion ever release an update to fix the timeout issue? That would be annoying

The cable that is already installed in the RV to connect the camera already has power? My RV is 2020 Highland Mesar Ridge
@RVProject3 жыл бұрын
Cannot tell you for sure. Each RV mfg is different. Best thing is to use a multimeter and check for voltage.

I have the same system and was able to turn off the auto switch on the cameras. Not sure if my software is upgraded. But while I don't remember how to exactly do it, it had to do with turning off something that was in auto mode. Tech support should be able to help.

why not mount the 4th camera on the rear of the truck to view the hitch when hitching up??

I also produced a video where I put the 4th camera on the hitch rather than the rear of the truck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3zdfaKLi7-Dr7s

Great video. Really enjoyed it. On my camper, a prewired setup was provided and all I had to do was connect camera wires to two large wires I fished out. This set up ran my battery down within a month as it did yours. I'm now changing that set up to one that doesn't drain my battery. On your video I was looking for the moment you actually connected the two small camera wires (thin blk&red) to the single blk power wire (from the cabinet) protruding thru the camera mount hole just below the running light. In a nutshell, how'd you connect two small wires to the larger black wire? Seems to me one of the smaller wires must go to something other than the larger black wire. A ground maybe? Did I miss something in the video? Seeking help in this matter, and Im certain it is a very simple matter for you. Not me.
@RVProject4 жыл бұрын
The single black wire you see is actually a cable with both red and black wires. The camera simply hooks up red to the positive wire and black to the negative side. I always use a voltmeter to confirm the polarity as you never know the competence of the RV Installer. For this reason, I am hesitant to provide detailed instructions as there are always exceptions, and I would not want to give bad advice. Therefore my go to advice is to always use a voltmeter to confirm the polarity. Also, whenever you change the wire size in a branch circuit, even DC, always ensure the lower gauge wire has a higher current carrying capability than the branch circuit fuse, or add an in-line fuse for the smaller wire. You don't want the smaller wire to become the default fuse! To connect dissimilar wire sizes, I never use twist-on terminals as they are not appropriate for use in vehicles prone to vibration (RVs and Boats). In fact, twist-on terminals are actually illegal to use on a boat (33CFR183 - USCG regulation). I like to use the "top hat" style of crimp on terminals where h are OK to use.

@@RVProject Amazing answer. Thank you so much. I didn't realize there was two wires within the larger black cabinet wire. Your explanation was beyond what I could have expected. I just have to translate. I got the answer I sought. Thank you sir.

Thanks for this video. Please, can you explain what is the "trailer light plug" from nappy-kamper? thank you.
@RVProject4 жыл бұрын
It's just a plug that makes a connection from the RV battery to the running lights on the trailer. It allows you to power the camera (powered by the running lights) without having to connect the tow vehicle to the trailer.
@teejay6224 жыл бұрын
You could simply make a jumper wire to jump the battery terminal to the running light terminal on the trailer plug. I would be sure to add an inline fuse to my jumper just because I am overly cautious by nature and overkill is my middle name. :)

I would Definitely point out for those who aren't familia what is ground, positive, ect.. Most know black is ground and red is positive when it comes to wiring or provide a diagram
@RVProject4 жыл бұрын
For my projects, I tend to provide an overview; which I call a catalyst, to get ideas flowing. I try to refrain from providing step-by-step instructions, especially when it comes to wiring because there are no standards in the RV industry. I have seen a multitude of wire colors used for positive and negative in RVs, almost to the point of being haphazard. For that reason, I can never be 100% accurate when suggesting using the red wire for 12V/black for ground. Perhaps I should to a video called; the non-standard RV?

What did you use to remove the excess sealant from the exterior around the light and fin on the back of the RV?

It's just silicone, so alcohol or mineral spirits will remove it.

Will this camera kit not work unless you turn on clearance lights.? That sucks.
@RVProject4 жыл бұрын
It's up to you how you want to wire it. Some people wire in an independent switch, but most people wire the cameras to the clearance lights as it is a simple solution. But there is no reason you need to do it that way. Wire the power as you see fit.

Any time you have a specialty product with a low volume of sales, the cost is going to be more. Economy-of-scale and all that stuff.

I was going t buy this thanks I won’t now. Sounds like a waste of money until they can get the side camera software straightened out. Think I’ll go with the rear only 5 inch screen and save over $300.00

As long as you don't buy the 4.3" screen, you can add side cameras later.
