I am definitely an advocate for R&D and the cost associated with it and that the majority of the cost of this kit is AED’s time spent developing the mounting plates and assembling this as a simple, complete plug and play kit, but AED should maybe do a bit more market research and realize that a $700.00USD kit will just price themselves out of the market in the miata community.

Until he has problems with it he shouldn't really worry about it. Maybe it'll put less stress on the coils if he runs them sequentially but wasted spark is more than enough most of the time. A lot of older bikes run wasted spark and they rev to the moon compared to a Miata motor

If they increase spark power to the point of 40 psi, couldn't you increase your spark plug gap (like double for example) to increase MPG and a tiny bit of performance (bigger spark=bigger kernel=faster combustion right)? Just a thought
@LuckyFruitRacing3 жыл бұрын
In theory you can, up to a point. You will always want a narrower gap as boost increases unless you are running a very high voltage CDI system. One of the biggest limiting factor in Miatas is actually getting a good solid voltage to the coils to begin with. Upgrading the alternator, relay and wiring to the coils will improve spark on almost any decent ignition coil

fab99 do a PnP CoP setup too, have for years, with denso coils, but it also has some kind of controller/driver doodad inbetween the stock wiring harness and the CoPs that I don't know the purpose of. It works without stock ECU. Main reason I bought mine is my OEM coil pack was toast and a replacement was actually more than the fab9 kit, so i figured what the hell. Im chasing down a random cylinder misfire now so reverted to an IL motorsports OEM-style coil pack, although rev9 was not the cause in the end. As this uses Denso coils, I figure its more or less the same, but I really want to know what the little module in the rev9 kit does now! Edited to correct rev9 to fab9, cos of course I mix those two up...
@blidiotwoofghidiot36273 жыл бұрын
@@iainbagnall4825 I think you mean the fab9 kit. But that module adjusts the dwell time because the stock dwell time is too long for the COPs which causes them to overheat which shortens their lifespan
