Ah I fly my friend’s LS-8 with one of these canopy flashers equipped, came in handy the other day when a trainee strayed a bit too close 😂

Nicely done Stefan! I cant help note that you did not mention the airworthiness paperwork for this installation. Are you aware of CS-STAN and Standard Change CS-SC036b INSTALLATION OF VISUAL AWARENESS LIGHTS that seems to fits your product precisely?

Does the LED unit contain any protection against overheating, passive or active? Especially when not using the control box.

Very nice. You mentioned that this will work with PowerFLARM Fusion. Will it also work with PowerFLARM Core? I have a PowerFlarm Core connected to my LX Nav S80 (3rd gen, without Bluetooth) in my glider.

Hi John, of course it also works with the PowerFlarm Core. What I wanted to say in the video about the Fusion is, that you can simulate a collision from the Fusion app.

I missed informations in the video about costs and a comparison to other products types on the market. These are elementary informations when deciding to buy this system or not. Can you add these informations to the comments? Would be great.

In the description of the video you will find a link to our webpage with the prices. It depends on the configuration and glider type. As we are the manufacturer of this canopy flasher, I didn´t want to add a comparison to other products available on the market. But it´s a good idea and I will think about a video concept for the future. Thank, Stefan

Gibt es das auch für Motorflugzeuge, Motorsegler, ULs etc.?

Aktuell wird das von uns nicht angeboten. Bei Flugzeugen mit Motor würde man den Propeller beleuchten. Hierfür gibt es zugelassene ACLs die außen montiert werden. Für Motorsegler und UL Segelflugzeuge, die vorwiegend motorlos fliegen, geht das natürlich auch.

Stefan, deine Videos gefallen mir sehr gut, was mir fehlt ist eine Erklärung der Sichtflugregeln in Deutschland innerhalb der Luftraumstruktur. Das ist für mich als Segelflieger/VFR-Pilot manchmal sehr verwirrend. Vielleicht könntest du dazu mal ein Video machen und dann vielleicht einen deiner Streckenflüge als Beispiel nehmen, wo man dann sieht, inwieweit man die Luftraumstruktur berücksichtigen muss, wie man sich in ED-R und ED-P Gebieten verhält und wie man mit Hörbereitschaft, TMZ und RMZ Zonen in der Praxis umgeht. Vielleicht hast du das auch schon gemacht und dann habe ich es übersehen.

Vielen Dank! Wir Segelflugpiloten meiden alle möglichen Arten von Lufträumen und Kommunikation zur FIS soweit es geht. Im Süddeutschen Raum ist das ziemlich entspannt möglich. Aber vielleicht schaffe ich es im Sommer mal ein Video dazu zu machen. Danke für die Idee.

Die nüchternen Fakten sprechen ja scho für das grüne Licht, jedoch hatten wir am Freitag noch ein Gespräch, ob das Grün nicht etwas untergeht, wenn man auf dem Flugplatz steht und alles um einen herum auch grün ist. Ist das Licht dann so überproportional viel heller, dass man es trotzdem noch so wahr nimmt, wie das bei den Blitzern in rot der Fall ist?

Bei unseren Tests hat sich gezeigt, dass man die Blitzer aus der Entfernung hauptsächlich wegen der Helligkeit wahrnimmt, nicht wegen der Farbe. Die Farbe kommt erst in direkter Nähe ins Spiel, bei der die Reaktionszeit schon kaum mehr ausreicht auszuweichen und man sieht das Segelflugzeug schon deutlich.

Why not putting this kind og addon on the fuselage.. ! No need for contact plate and all this... more reliable and just a small hole in trhe structure... why going so complex..
