Upgrading from the twin tube design. The monotubes provide much more controlled resistance. The previous models RS5405 are based on the twin tube RS5000 shock series. The upgraded RS7405 are based on the better true monotube RS7000 shock series. The bracket is part number: RS64551. You have to purchase that separately from the two stabilizers.

You're the winner. I knew someone would eventually see that. That side was not attached yet. I was just checking the passenger side first before I connected both. Then if there was a problem, I could remove them both without having to install and uninstall both. You do want to check the travel on the driver side for any binding or interference. I did it but didn't show it in the video.

Just ordered these for my 2008 F350 FX4. Running pretty much the same setup as you, truck is leveled on 35's. I upgraded the stock Rancho shocks to the Rancho MT's on all 4 shocks, front and rear, it has a very nice ride. Parts should be here today, going to install tmrw or Sat. Thanks for the video, installation looks fairly easy.

That's a good question. I was told the shocks and brackets were brand new so the website may not have been updated yet. The kit with all parts to mount the stabilizers is number RS64551 and the stabilizers are RS7405. I believe this kit still requires a minimum of two inch lift or level on the front end. A call to Rancho might be in order.

It needs extra clearance underneath. The problem is that the angled bar (drag link, I think) travels quite low under full suspension compression. That bar will impact the center axle bracket and push it into the tie rod adjusting sleeve effectively locking it wherever it is. Works great until you need to turn! There was a time when I went through a ditch and really bottomed out the front end. It was just enough to cause contact and make the steering sticky. Fixes easily it but you need the lift.

+Luis Ramirez A few folks have caught that and I guess I should have said something. It was clear while installing that if there was going to be a clearance problem, it would happen on that side. So I hooked that side up and cycled the steering range. Like you said, no problem.

Yeah, I have the 3.5 inch Ready Lift kit, with 5 inch rear blocks. I'm also interested in the air bags for the rear.

Funny, sorry. The twin tube stabilizers lasted about 40K miles and then slowly trailed off as the wobble slowly came back. These monotubes are better quality and the design works better/lasts longer in a horizontal setup. The only difference between the kits is the slightly shallower angle of the center mounting bracket. Otherwise they are identical. I suspect Rancho made that change due to range of motion conflicts or something. Perhaps the bracket can be slid away from the diff to compensate?

Another great video Epic - thanks for sharing. I have a question about ordering the RS7405's; When I check them out online they show a single stabilizer, not two and I don't see the brackets. What exactly should I be ordering. Again, thanks for sharing.

bout time you got back on the videos! wondering what happened! my front and rear Rancho 9000 series shocks (with their quick struck leveling kit) on my 04 F150 made it a completely different truck. how many miles are on your truck now? any issues?

Funny. I just haven't had anything to really video. Everything is working great. You'd think by now there would be something that would wear out or need attention and it finally happened. 40,000 miles. Yes the 9000 shocks are still working great. With the exception of the steering wobble, there has been absolutely nothing go wrong on the truck. It still works and pulls like a train.

I just got the dual steering stabilizer you had on first, with the RS5000 shocks, and not you have me worried, lol. How long did your RS5000's last before they broke like that? Lastly, do you see any reason why, if mine don't last long as well, that the mono-tubes you just installed won't fit on the main axle bracket that came with the 5000 kit? So that all I would have to do is replace the shocks with the mono-tubes, with no other hardware upgrade?

Question. Would this fit on a stock (IE non-lifted) 2011 F-350 dually??? I know you said in one of your comments minimum two inch lift or level on the front end. So is the lift mandatory to fit these??? Thanks, and I do enjoy your "work" videos. Ah, call it like it is. Not work, playing and having fun with your truck. Good for you!

Yeah, I found it a little funny to, my stabilizer kit just came in the mail, and then I saw this, lol. I wish I had known before hand, I would have taken your advice and gotten the mono-tube design. Oh well, if/when they fail I will have to make the same choice, free new RS5000 series from the warranty coverage, or pay for the upgrade to the mono-tube series. Thanks man, I enjoy the videos.

You buy the dual stabilizer bracket kit separately from the stabilizers. You need the bracket (part number: RS64551) and two stabilizers (part number: RS7405). You can find those parts all over the place.

Hey EpicCowlick, It doesn't look like you removed your stock steering stabilizer. I just ordered RS64551 and RS7405's and am going to use your great video to help with the install, but I was curious about the stock stabilizer. BDS Suspension sells a very similar kit (for more money) and step 1 of their instructions is to remove the stock stabilizer shock (which they repeat in their install video). Thoughts?
@EpicCowlick
@EpicCowlick 10 жыл бұрын
No, I didn't take it off and I don't know what kind of shape it's in. I can't imagine there's any harm in leaving it there. The extra stabilizers just supplement the old one that did not do the job. For me, I appreciate all the stabilization I can get. It can't hurt to install the new stabilizers and see how much resistance you feel in the steering wheel. If too much, you can certainly remove the OEM stabilizer any time. That's my take. This new Rancho monotube works much better than the first set. Just more solid.

You can find the stabilizers and brackets at many places. Just google the part numbers RS7405 and RS64551. The steering is a little "firmer" than stock. I can't say I notice any better tire wear. I got 45,000 miles out of my first set.

@EpicCowlick
@EpicCowlick 7 жыл бұрын
You have to have at least a 2 inch level on the front. If not, the normal travel of the suspension will push the center bracket down onto the axle. That will cause the steering to actually bind and make it difficult to turn.

I always level and prefer the way the truck sits. If you're getting the stabilizers to control steering wobble they are effective but be aware that the root cause of wobble is almost always something else. It could be any one or a combination of trac bar end bushings, oem stabilizer, ball joints or even wheel bearings. Each of those possibilities can be easily tested for too much play and if so, replaced as necessary.

Hey Epic, really like your vids and have done several of your mods. I like Mr. Boyett am stock (2015 F250 Lariat FX 4x4) and am considering the stabilizer kit from Stage 3 Motor Sports. I E-Mailed S3MS and was told that the 1.5 inch leveling kit would work with the stabilizer. Thoughts. I am also planning on the drilled and slotted brakes (and pads) for the front only. Another question for you. I sometimes experience that same kind of wobble, shimmy in the rear end of the truck going over road bumps. Did you experience this with your old rig, and do you or did you do anything to dampen that? If you don't mind, looking for your suggestion on what level kit and stabilizer either from S3MS or other. Thanks in advance.

Hi I wanted to know how you're 6.7l Powerstroke was treating you I am getting into the market for a new truck and can't decide between the 6.7l Powerstroke or the 6.7l Cummins. I know that the Cummins is a great motor just the rest of the truck I worry about, Trans, and Interior Build Quality. The only question I have is if something should ever happened to this truck would you buy it again or change brands and why. Thanks. BTW Nice Truck

EpicCowlick, not sure if I asked you this in the past... I seem to remember you posted a video, maybe between stabilizer shock upgrades on your old F250 and that part of the issue was that in the steering motion, components of the steering struck the shock tubes. This was a result of not having a lift on the front end from stock. I plan on putting a one inch leveling kit on the front of my 2015 F250 FX 4X4 Lariat. IYO and based on your experience (provided you had this issue) will the steering stabilizer clear. I've call several 4X4 shops, Stage 3 Motor Sports, and Rough Country, all have differing but not clear answers. What say you?
@EpicCowlick
@EpicCowlick 6 жыл бұрын
The dual stabilizer kit needs 2 inches of lift/level to clear. Any less and it will impact the steering arm and push the bracket onto the bar that links the steering knuckles. Bad things happen when you can't turn your steering wheel., lol. You should look into a Bilstein stabilizer to replace the OEM stabilizer. It really does help. You can also have the alignment shop put in caster bushings that will give you another 1.5 degrees. That is a huge help to reducing wobble/bump steer and shouldn't be overlooked. At the end of the day, if you have bad bushings or ball joints, those will need to be replaced.

Just turned over 50K miles. Not a ton but good average use. I pull a very heavy trailer occasionally over the mountains of Utah and throughout the west. If it wasn't for the steering wobble, the truck would be flawless. The stabilizers make it that way.

EpicCowlick According to the directions you have to have at least a 2 inch lift. In your experience do you think this would work without the lift? Would dare be clearance issues without a lift do you think?
@EpicCowlick
@EpicCowlick 4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinwhite7199 It does indeed need that 2 inch lift/level. Without the extra clearance, the center bracket can easily impact the road and push the bracket into the steering rod. When that happens, it is very difficult or even impossible to turn the steering wheel. It's an easy fix to simply pry the brack down a little to clear the steering bar but it would be a perpectual threat.
