Well done Josh. Power is the genie that keeps on giving. The complaint I have seen most often, about wind generators, is noise. You've gone the extra mile to make sure that's not a problem. You didn't need to cover Pheobes bottom, I looked away so as not to offend. 😁😉 Stay safe and have a good week. ❤🙏

If you wind generators too noisy just change the pitch a little bit

A gentleman of the highest order Steve! It’s almost a guilty pleasure hearing the sound of the generator running because you know it’s charging the batteries! Cheers mate, Josh

Josh - you are a talented bloke mate and I now see how you manage to do so much of your own boat work. You’re a sparky! Love this episode. A mate put a wind gen on his 40’ ketch and it is only used when sailing as it needs a higher wind speed to generate power.
@Thenewkidsonthedock8 ай бұрын
Hey Tony, cheers for the support mate they are kind words! It helps to have practical knowledge aboard because it isn’t easy to get help in some of the remote areas we find ourselves in. Glad you enjoyed the episode and thanks for letting us know! Cheers mate, Josh

Nice work Josh. Using the VS50 with the starter battery is one way to skin the cat but there's a 10% round trip loss through the Pb battery. If charging the house battery while the turbine is spinning, you don't lose anything, though. Think about replacing the VS50 with a solar charge controller on the output of the rectifier with a Li-ion compatible charge output. Much smaller, about $200 for a 30A unit. Victron & other brand names.

Wow Josh, if you ever decide to live on shore again, you should be a primary school teacher. Inspirational. Great job but don’t get carried away on power production and keep with the mantra of reducing consumption.
@Thenewkidsonthedock8 ай бұрын
Hey Jon thanks for the support mate! Appreciate your kind words. Yes I agree reducing consumption is definitely the primary measure. With all the technology we require just to create and publish the videos alone we need a reliable system that provides adequate power. Being someone that enjoys building and improving systems I guess it’s easy to get carried away, anyway more production is always a plus in my books. Cheers mate, Josh

Best thing we ever installed, hubby can't believe we didn't get one sooner. We went cheap to try them out and bought 2 and they've been freaking awesome 😊❤ I saw a recent not so recent vid of yours so I'm guessing you guys installed months ago 😅😊 we are still at Bribie, I'm working now to get a bit more money saved and next month we will be full time living with the kids and pups 😅 longest we've done is 13weeks during COVID lockdown, but it's where we want to be so we are up for the beautiful challenge xo love seeing what you guys are up too, still my top pick to watch on KZbin ❤❤ ya legends x Jacinta Shanley 🐬🤙🌞💕💯⭐🇦🇺

Good luck with that. The math, max efficiency is 40% = A/2 × density x velocity cubed. Low wind speed means no power. Basically if the wind speed is not near max the power in low.
@Thenewkidsonthedock8 ай бұрын
Cheers for that math Dan it’s always good to hear other peoples views. We will see how it goes for us. We do see plenty of wind! Cheers, Josh

Wondering about using large flat washers on the underside of the topside to spread the load out where the pipe comes through the overhead?

Always a great idea Patrick! Luckily there isn’t any massive load on that section of the mount, more vertical pressure. Cheers mate, Josh

I'm sure you found out by now you can only get in use less than 20% of the kilowatt rated hours what's hooked up to battery or create whatever It's called ohm's law As the battery gets Full you get less At the battery Measure voltage and amps multiply the results and we'll give you true Watts What's the batteries are full might want to think about a dump or diversion load to make hot air or water Or make hydrogen & oxygen Run the pump to make water anyway great job
@Thenewkidsonthedock8 ай бұрын
Hey Dennis thanks for pointing that out, if we had the space I would definitely install a small hot water storage unit that is heated via heat exchanger/ excessive power produced. Maybe for our next vessel with a bit more space! Cheers mate, Josh
