Is there a preferred torque limit? I realize the instruction was "be careful not to over-torque the screws" but approximately what qualifies "over-torque"?
@dsainc4 жыл бұрын
30 inch pounds is what we would recommend but honestly snug them and do an 1/8 of a turn and use blue locktite

Just tighten it till you hear a snap and then back it off a quarter turn. How to torque to spec 101.

Suggest you show how this is done with the PARA version; both standard cover and this newer cover, since more and more PARA versions are sold. Excellent idea for another demo here. Also a demo on PARA stock assembly, install and removal please. 👍

You have to buy the specific rail for para model, I learned the hard way.

JBurgess Yes I know that already. It’s the very reason I made the suggestion. I’ll let DSA respond with more demos like I-asked/suggested since that’s who I made the suggestion to.

I have this dustcover. It's nice. But I found its hard to clean inside the receiver when you can't take off the dust cover. It's gotta be a pain unscrewing it everytime it needs a cleaning.
@dsainc2 жыл бұрын
The FAL does not require in depth cleaning often so the access to the receiver with our mount installed is amble for what the fal needs in normal cleaning.
@Odessa452 жыл бұрын
Use a spray can of brake & parts cleaner ... the stuff you can buy at any auto parts retailer. It'll blast the crud out of the rifle, no problem. CRC Brakleen is your friend ;)
@Milkman35720009 ай бұрын
I concur with DSA. 99% of people overclean. That can damage a rifle. The FAL is not an AR. Use common sense here, drop it in a lake, sure it needs cleaned ASAP. And stop loaning your FAL to Robski.
@alexburnside78383 жыл бұрын
Will you lose your zero when you take this off and re attach it? I want to buy this however every time I shoot my rifle I clean it very thoroughly and this covers up what the dust cover usually covers so I’d want to take it off for cleaning.
@dsainc3 жыл бұрын
You will have a shift a small one this is meant to stay on as much as possible and the FAL does not need the over cleaning you are performing over cleaning can wear guns a lot more than you would think

@lyfandeth2 жыл бұрын
Permatex Loctite is the usual product in the US. You might want to check their web site. The blue product can be unscrewed with just a little effort. The red product, if applied to clean metals, needs to be heated to break the bond before you can remove it. The product has, IIRC, a two year total life, or one year after opening. They also make a new series that are like lipsticks, those can't leak and should have a longer shelf life. There are other good brands of thread lock. The important thing is to alcohol clean the screw a d hole threads first.
