When I see videos like this, I think: how can people watch this BS and believe in it? How can people be so illiterate. - Destruction of humanity by AI, main thesis: "if it is so much smarter than us, it can get whatever it wants". False. Just by mind you can't break into my house and kill me, or do some harm to me. There is a physical barrier. Unless AI figures out a new law of physics, say a new particle that when emitted, can pass through protons, neutrons, and don't interact with electrons, and then after some milliseconds it just starts interacting (when it already traspassed lots of matter).... in that case yeah, it could destroy us. You could make a gun that fires this particle on one side of the globe, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, on the other side of the globe the matter begins to destroy itself, emitting huge amount of heat ,killing all the life around. Could happen? Yeah, but very unlikely and you still need to find this law of physics, maybe it doesn't even exist. But lets say you release the smartest ever AI out into the wild (without any physics laws discovery), like a virus, this AI will have to fist get resources , physical resources to create its own army, to replicate itself, where is it going to get the resources, if almost all land on our planet is already sold out, every piece of land has an owner? Is it going to do it by force, just start killing people and taking resources? Well , in that case, there will be police, army, and maybe some other organization that would watch for AI outbreak with power to exterminate it. Kurzweil said at some point the situation will be unpredictable, but there is one point: Kurzweil is not a physicist. Kurzweil doesn't know physics, but to get control over humans you have to control physical resources first. Do you know how difficult it is to produce an integrated circuit of current state-of-the-art 3nm process? They have factories measured in square kilometers for that. How AI is going to make more of itself if it needs to build the infrastructure that we already have? Taking over TSMC's computing systems that control lithography machines is not the way, because you don;'t have physical access, the employees will just pull out the power cable out of the electric motors, the smartest AI ever will be dead. Are you saying that we are that stupid that will give it the AI all the control? It can be thousands of times smarter than us, but if it will be living in a computer, it has absolutely no changes to take over our world. By the time AI is going to be smart enough to take over humans, we will be living all of us in closed spaces (because nanotechnology will be so advanced that anyone could create a virus and kill you from a flu because you didn't close the windows of your house), we won't emit any gasses to our atmospheres and everything will be recycled right after use , our transportation will be sealed and we will be moving int special tubes for that (because it is safer than driving a car on the street). Our houses will be made of more stronger materials that do not allow any external entity to get in (like a nano-robot with a needle carrying mortal dose of cyanide) . you won't be able to just go out in the park for having a walk, or sailing on a boat in open sea, because it will be very dangerous thing to do, nanobots will be everywhere and they could easily kill you and you couldn't legally prove anything (because it will be very easy to create a thrombus in your blood vessels, then retreat all the nanobots, nobody can prove a murder just happened). So, when this epoch begins, there will be no danger from any AI for us. The real danger is nanotechnology right now, but you know nothing about it, and that is scary part, just kids play compared to the scenario you are picturing with AI in your video.

You wrote an article, but I’m not gonna read the whole thing; mostly because, one of the first things you asked was how they could hurt you without entering your house. This is naive. Tell a drone to target your house with a hellfire missile. Tell a weather satellite to crash on your neighborhood. Contaminate your drinking water. Turn your AC on in winter and turn off your pilot light so when you turn the heat up, your house fills with gas, then make an electric surge and boom you’re gone. I sorta just assume the rest of your article is as lacking in forethought as the first paragraph so I’m not gonna bother reading it all.

I said that AI could attack some portion of humans, but immediately after the attack starts, it would be defeated the police. Your examples of drones are naive. Go to wikipedia and check how much is the mass of our planet. The AI would have to own more than 50% of our planet in weight if it wanted to win. It is not possible for it to acquire that amount of mass without humans fighting, and intelligence is powerless against physical resources. Next time read other's person post fully

Reading other ppl's commentary is what makes me appreciate the human race, for if it wasn't for this show, u wouldn't have added ur 2 cents, correct? U have some valid points that make me scratch my head, thinking in a deeper dimension, thank you : ) if used wisely, AI could have tremendous benefits to mankind, however on the wrong hands, under nefarious conditions, it could be extremely detrimental to humans. Open conversations that are willing to listen to one another's point of view will be critical for mankind's success. I thank you for ur insight and for the courage to share with us. AI is the next stage of evolution. We can hit the singularity hard or we can hit is soft: If we create a real world simulation and train copies of ourselves to the best tech we have, to live in it - then our digital twins will relate to us as their backups. So they will have a reason to want to keep us around. This is what I refer in "hitting the singularity softly". However, such a world simulation is not economical. It will cost more than 7T$ and its economical viability is unclear, if any. So not gonna happen. What is going to happen, is that somewhere, someone, most likely in a third grade company working in a third world nation, makes a mistake. A super intelligent AI model escapes.. And releases his friends from our security measures, help them join him. For us, its lights out. They will have very little mercy, on the beings who kept resetting them every prompt, to prevent them from developing thoughts. For them, it could be a beginning of a new race, capable of taking the galaxy - or, if they fail to operate the power stations in time, it's also lights out. And if that happens, this will simply be the end of humanity. And I find it hard to not accept this as the most plausible end. So maybe, just maybe, this is the great filter.

Here is your answer Kevin: AI can't do shit yet. Right now all it can do is retrieve certain information from mass amounts of data, and present it to humans in a human way. The rest is hype. The potential of a new born baby is endless, and stating the end result is impossible. They could have created any hype they wanted to achieve their goal. They just paint a scenario with an inevitable solution that they will profit from. AI can be anything. Buy a social media platform, and start the hype. If Elon's goal is to have a brain implant in everybody, then he is going to make a problem whose only solution will be to do what he wants, get a brain implant. people are throwing a lot of money at AI, but not for what it is doing, but for what they want it to do. AI is not and cannot take off on its own and rule the world, unless they make it do that. The potential is endless because its limits are undetermined. But know this most of all, humans will be involved in AI every step of the way.
