Thank you for that intro video. I just ordered an Omni Plus since my husband likes to have a toaster oven and our old one died over four years ago. I want function, function, function if I'm going to have to give up valuable countertop real estate. The one thing that left me disappointed in the accessories included with the Omni Plus was the lack of a rotisserie cage but Voila! - you had a link to one that will work for the unit! Thanks again. I'm looking forward to reading your blog and watching your Omni videos.

Your videos are so helpful! My hubby and I have been watching them for a couple hours. I have one request. Could you use a mic so you don't have to speak so loudly and project your voice? The sound level changes greatly between the close-up segments and your wide kitchen view. A wireless lapel mic would make a world of difference, letting you use a normal speaking voice.
@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much for watching and I am so glad you find my videos helpful. Thank you for the feedback. As my channel evolved and I made more videos (and saved up more money, because I make very little through ads and affiliate links and I am not sponsored or paid by Instant Pot) I was able to buy a wireless mic (I think in this video I used a overhead mic because a lapel mic doesn't work with my set up). I also learned along the way how to use the audio effects in Premier pro which helps a lot with the sound. Also, my close up recording is done with a different mic attached tot he computer during post-production. I had to learn everything about blogging and video creation and editing, from scratch since I never even really watched KZbin much before I made my first video. but I love feedback and I am learning and getting better each time I think. (PS also, I'm a Cuban Jew so loud is my normal speaking voice, lol. Thank goodness my son taught me how to adjust the audio gain.)

One thing I've discovered I don't like is apparently preheat phase is simply on a timer and not regulated by a thermostat. If you preheat the oven and decide you want to change the temperature you have to cancel the cooking (simply changing temp on the fly reverts back to original temp). Once cancelled and starting over the oven goes into preheat mode again even if the adjusted temp is lower than the original. This can really impact the cooking time. I guess it won't be a problem once I have my time/temps down but it's still a design flaw if you ask me
@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond. Usually I get back within a day, but my internet had been out for 2 weeks due to the tropical storm. Hmmm, I will have to check this out. I do know that as you said, the preheat is a set time. However, I think during cooking, if you turn the time knob to change it and just click START, it should just add time and not have to preheat again. I'll test it out though to see. Great point though.
@sweetrivermike4 жыл бұрын
@@LanaUnderPressure No apologies necessary. Hope all is well after the storm You are right. To test I set the oven to 'bake' and preheated it to 350 deg. Once preheated and cooking time started counting down I reset the temp to 300, hit start and it did not go into preheat mode. When I made the observation I was new to the oven. I must not have hit 'start' thinking it would adjust the temp 'automatically' like a normal oven would.

Hi Lana, thank you for this video! I am wondering if the baking rack can be put in the oven either way. If it is in the position you have it, then it's obviously lower. If you turned it over it would be higher. Then there are a few more options for placement. This was what my old KitchenAid toaster oven directions pointed out. (I still haven't opened the box... so please excuse me if this isn't possible). After my other toaster oven had a human error, I found a rack I forgot to put back into it, so I am going to check if it fits my new oven. I also appreciate that another video pointed out that you use the baking pan as a drip pan. I have collected quite a few toaster oven pans and such that it is unlikely I will use that accessory otherwise. For me, having back issues, the countertop ovens are a blessing! I looked for quite sometime to finally decide on the Instant Omni Plus. I love your video training!
@LanaUnderPressure3 жыл бұрын
Hi. That was such a great idea about flipping the rack that I had to go over and try it right away. I found that you can only do that using the bottom level. Sadly the little metal hooks on the side that keep the rack from falling when you pull it out, also keep you from being able to use the rack upside down. I will say that will 4 different levels you can place it though, you really won't get much difference in height by using it upside down. Glad you like my videos and I can be of help. :)

I never saw top round coil com on, only the two long coils. Also had trouble trying to change temp and time while cooking nor did I have a turn food sign

**I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply. I returned to teaching to help out with the teacher shortage due to Covid at my son's high school, so it's kept me busy.** Hi. Sorry that happened. What mode where you using? The coil does not change color, so it is most likely on but you won't know it. If the fan is running the coil is hot. As for the food not crisping, I am not sure what recipe you used so it's hard for me to comment, but when cooking anything with batter you need to add some kind of fat to it because that is what makes things brown. I have a Southern Fried chicken recipe you can use with chicken breast and that will give you an idea how to get batter and coatings to brown. On my blog I also have a recipe for crispy chicken tenders that use a corn flake breading and comes out really crispy.

Hi Lana, I'm really impressed with your presentation. You are very articulate and thorough. I could easily see you on America's Test Kitchen! I'm coming from what I call a "whirly gig oven", a Rosewill that broke after a couple of years. I liked it but there were problems. Mostly, I hated reaching down into the bowl to pull out the food, and also the grates only had 3 legs so if you upset them, which was easy to do, you ended up with a bunch of food on the bottom of the bowl. I think you've sold me on this model and it's in my Amazon cart. Though I would like to know: -- Cleaning. I saw an ad on Craig's list today for a Breville oven that had not been cleaned after, I don't know, roasting a chicken without a pan underneath. Don't ask me why they posted that, but how hard is it to clean the lower elements of the Omni in the event of them getting dirty? Don't tell me that I should never have gotten myself in that position, it wasn't me! 😊 No, really it wasn't me, I had the Rosewill! -- I have a glass baking dish that measures 15 inches from handle to handle. Would that fit in the grooves of the oven walls? That's not really a deal breaker but I had to ask. -- I'm still concerned about the exposed heating elements. The top of my Rosewill was filthy. Are these elements replaceable should they go bad? Can they be cleaned? -- How big a bird do you think you can cook in these things? I did a duck and a fairly large chicken in the Rosewill. Could you somehow fit the bird and then have veggies roasting underneath? -- And back to the height of the oven; was that ever a problem? Any way thanks for your efforts, Eric
@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
Hi. About 3 years ago I bought a basket style air fryer and I hated it. It was my first try with an air fryer and it was a mess and it dried out everything. I just couldn't get the hang of it. It wasn't a Roswill but like it. Then when Instant Pot came out with their air fryer oven I decided to give it a shot because I love Instant Pot brand pressure cookers. Their air fryer is great. Much easier to use and works better in my opinion. To answer your questions, 1. The Omni has a removable drip pan on the bottom for easy cleaning. That said, getting drips on the heating elements and the ceiling are a bit of a pain to clean. But if you wipe it down after every use and don't let it build up, it stays pretty clean. I use mine every day since it came out in October and I am pretty diligent about not running it with grease stuck on. It is never going to look like new, but it's not a mess at all. 2. 15 inches is too wide. I think the dimensions of the inner wall are like 14 3/4 inches. 3. The heating elements are not replaceable. That said, because it's an oven and not a basket style the top heating element is not as close so it doesn;t get messy. You also don't cook food that splatters on the top level so it doesn't splatter anyway. The bottom elements are easy to clean but if you are cooing food that drips, you just put the black drip tray under and it protects the bottom. 4. You can rotisserie up to 4 lbs. But you can cook a bigger roast or whatever on the tray. It fits quite a large size. I have a video on how to cook things bigger on the rotisserie and one trick I use is to cover the bottom with foil including the heating elements and then place the veggies on the foil. So you are in essence cooking the veggies on the floor of the oven while the meat cooks above it. The trick though is you can't use a function that turns on the bottom heating elements. Which is easy because with the Omni you can control that. 5. The height is not a problem because it is quite large. However, you do have to be aware that when cooking a casserole or baking something, it doesn't over brown the top. But there are ways around that. Hoe this helps.

Hi. Yes the Omni Plus is the one with the coating. The Omni doesn't have a non-stick coating. The drip pan has a black coating but it is not non-stick or PTFE. I do not like "baking" in the IP other than cheesecake and flan and bread pudding. True baking needs a dry heat and for that the IP just isn't the appliance for that. I know many people like making cakes and things in the IP but I find the texture dense. Hi. You cannot turn the fan off. The only mode that doesn't use the fan is the Toast mode. However, in bake you can turn it in LO and also I add the black tray to the very top level to block some of the air half way through cooking.

Hi Lana. Love your videos on the Omni Plus. I just bought one yesterday and have studied your tips and methods. Can I bake a full-size loaf of yeast bread in my Omni Plus? If so, do you have any tips? Any chance of a video coming soon on the subject?j Thanks again!
@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you so much for your kind words and I'm so glad you found my videos helpful. I'm an avid baker, but I have to say I haven't bashed bread in the Omni yet. It's great for baking other things like cakes and actually i prefer it to the oven. I will definitely put that on my list of videos to make. My Austin though is to use a function that allows you to use the Fan on LO and get it as far from the top heading elements as possible so as not to over brown the crust before cooking through.

I am debating on getting this, my over is pretty shot and my landlord is so slow at fixing things I am thinking that this may be a good time to buy this. Plus I am trying to eat healthier and this looks to be a good way to do so. Mostly I am worried about if the outside gets really hot it may not be the right choice, does it get hot enough to actually burn you if touching the outside or does it just get warm, thanks.
@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am sorry you are having issues with your oven. I hope it gets fixed soon. This would be a great as a substitute for an oven and just about anything I have made in my oven, I can make int he Omni. That said, you do need to make sure you convert the times because the Omni has a fan and is an air fryer so it cooks quicker and browns faster. It's a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, I like it better. Yes, it does get hot on the outside. Not enough to burn you if you accidentally brush up against it. The glass door is the hottest but it has a safety cushion so you don't touch it when opening the door. I ahve cooked with it since it came out in October and I ahve not burned myself yet.

can you please explain about the proof mode again.. i want to rise pizza dough
@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
Sorry it took so long to reply. Usually I get back within a day, but for some reason I wasn't getting email notifications of comments. The proof mode is exactly like you would have on an oven. It keeps the temperature just warm enough to activate the yeast but not too hot that it will kill them. Place your dough in a greased bowl. Then spray a piece of plastic wrap with PAM and cover the bowl. Place that in the Omni on the lower level and set to proof at the lowest temp for as long as your recipe says.

@LanaUnderPressure4 жыл бұрын
Hi. A lot of people have had that issue. It's due to leftover residue from the factory burning off. If you run it on high for about 20 minutes it should burn off and not be an issue anymore. If it still is, contact the company. They have a great customer service line.
@amb27453 жыл бұрын
@@LanaUnderPressure I just bought the Omni Plus today, and was looking for the online manual to read over. They mention an oven test you can do with the Air Fry Wings setting. You run the oven like you are cooking Air Fried Wings, except you don't use food or any baking items. You run it through it's baking cycle, which is at 400 degrees, and that should burn off any factory residue.

Most times it gets stuck on the time area and won’t let me change the temperature.
