Thanks a lot for your explanation how to cook jasmin rice. Same as you, jasmine rice is my favourite rice.

Thanks for your comment - glad to help! I think the fact that jasmine rice absorbs curries and other sauces so well makes us like it so much!

So many videos for cooking jasmine rice in the IP make it sound daunting. I love your PIP method. Thank you for simplifying the process.

You are so welcome! You can also use the method to cook two dishes at once, if they have the same cooking time.

Love your hair BTW !! My question is when reheating rice pot in pot method 2 cups water right below rivet and pressure cook 1 minute and quick release....but do I also add more water to rice in pyrex bowl (inner inner bowl) ???
@PainttheKitchenRed8 ай бұрын
Great question - when reheating cooked rice, you put water in the inner pot below the trivet and cooked rice in a bowl with no added water. Hope that helps.

I like yours bestbecause there was no confusion as to the ratio of rice to water, but you didn't add coconut milk. I made mine the way you did but 21/2 cups rice to the same water(part of the water was coconut milk. Not enough to be tasty, next time would you the full can of coconut milk! Thanks
@PainttheKitchenRed2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dianne, glad you got the basic recipe to work for you. Keep in mind that you definitely want a combination of coconut milk and water/broth - It's tricky to get it just right to get the flavor and not get a burn message :)

@@PainttheKitchenRed Made it today 2 cups with one can of low fat coconut milk, so just one cup of water as milk was 450 ml. Delicious, added some stevia and coconut bits! Yummy!

Question: do I cook in high pressure or low pressure?
@PainttheKitchenRed4 ай бұрын
Some people use the rice button to cook rice and that is low pressure. I prefer to use this recipe which is high pressure. Thanks for the question.

This is Bonnie from Michigan again. Still have not used my IP yet. Still a bit confused a bit. Wondering if you do the same time frame for just long rice. Still confused on the release method after it is done. Do you just leave all alone or do your release pressure. So I guess I am still not knowing about when or not to release the pressure. I only have long rice here at home but I use short and long. I Have used Jasmine rice too, and like it, but do not have any now ..only long grain. Thank you and Have a great week 🙂👍.

Hi Bonnie, you should first do something really simple: pressure cook 2 cups of water for 5 minutes and do a quick release. This is called the water test and is mainly to get you comfortable with using the Instant Pot. I have videos on how to use various models. Regarding rice, pressure cook the long grain rice for 6 minutes and after the time is up, wait for 10 to 15 minutes and release any remaining pressure and stir it up. For long grain rice, I do a 1:1 ratio of rice to water. Alternately, use the "Rice" button and do a natural release i.e. wait for the pressure to go down on its own. The rice button is preset to 12 minutes on low pressure. Hope that helps.

I also have the ceramic pot but am confused. Do I 1st fill the main pot with water (per usual pressure cooking), then insert the ceramic pot inside? My rice burned when I only used the ceramic pot. THANK YOU!!
@PainttheKitchenRed2 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that the ceramic pot is smaller in size and fits into the steel pot? In that case, you can use the ceramic pot for pot in pot - you fill the steel pot with a couple of cups of water, place the trivet in there and place the ceramic pot with rice and water on the trivet. Pressure cook for recommended time but if you find that it's not cooked enough you can pressure cook for some additional time. Not sure if I've understood you correctly, but hope that helps.

Hi can we cook vegetables or pluses with same method
@PainttheKitchenRed2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can but you might need to add some extra time for legumes/pulses - just try it with the original cooking time and then turn it back on for an additional few minutes if it isn't cooked enough.
