Thank you. This is what I needed. Tired of buying cans of beans when I can just stock up.
@breng52223 жыл бұрын
I first put the pot on saute mode add sofrito( Puerto Rican mix of blended onions,garlic,peppers,cilantro,cilantro. Etc.) Add 1 bullion cube, 1 tbsp tomato paste, mix until well incorporated. Then add the water and beans and cumin. Put pot on beans setting. Perfect beans everytime. I add chopped cilantro at the end to up that flavor.

I find beans cook more evenly without salt and acid( tomato or vinegar). Once the beans are done I just season the beans with salt and taste the bean water. Once the bean water taste good to me I allow the beans to soak up the salt that I added.

Great video!! Really informing!! I've never tried garlic in my beans. That might be a great idea! But in my opinion onions, salt, and you definitely have to add cumin!! It takes your beans up a notch and it tastes so good even with the broth!!

Thanks for the video. Something I do that you might like-- rather than free-pouring salt ( or spices)- I almost always pour the salt into my palm to verify the amount first, then put it in the recipe. Easy and controlled. Also when putting salt on already cooked food, I put it in my palm them rub the palms together over the food to distribute it evenly across the top rather than using a shaker. It really lets you have a direct sense of the amount you are putting on, without dragging out the measuring spoons.

The BEST pinto beans are made using “Casserole” brand pinto beans! Along with a can of Rotel & adding at least 2 slices of cut up Wright’s bacon gives them a perfect balance… If you don’t want spicy beans, use a can of diced canned tomatoes… I also add cumin & chili powder when I want Mexican bean soup… Learned this from my grandmother many years ago, and I’m 71!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I couldn't seem to get super soft beans, so I took a suggestion from my mother of boiling. I don't soak beans even when stovetop cooking. I tried this today and they came out perfect! I put on medium saute for 25 minutes with some salt, pepper, garlic powder. Then added water to fill line, chopped onion, Tony Chetcheres, plus some liquid smoke. I also added 1 cup of brown rice rinsed. Pressure cooked for 40 mins. Maybe 10 mins of natural release. I have a 6qt IP Viva.

Can you explain the release button- new on this thing instant pot
@claudiamariana14052 ай бұрын
The release button/knob needs to be on "Sealed" when it's cooking. After the cook time is up, you can leave the beans sitting there until the silver release button goes down on its own OR you can move the knob away from "sealed" so that it can release all of the built up pressure. Whichever way you decide to go with, do not open the instant pot until the silver release button next to the knob has gone down. That means it is safe to open the lid.

If beans are already cleaned and sorted, you just need to wash them, soaking is optional. This recipe was just the basic way of cooking beans! It was not intended to be a full meal. To me it was just fine and simple for people that eat healthy and no pork or extras. At least Claudia Mariana knows how to cook beans, there a so many that appreciate the recipe! Greetings!!!

captaincrunch72 you're correct but she aloud it to sit 47 min natural release after 35 min of pressure cooking. Perhaps that aloud it to cook through.
@T.Hdez08093 жыл бұрын
@@almaduran45 no there are other videos showing that after 40 minutes of cooking they would do an instant release and they came out perfect! But beware doing a instant release after any meal that is a soup the juice can release out as well, so that is why many let it release on its own when the dish is a soup dish. But I believe that’s why she put it at 30 minutes to add in the manual release without over cooking.
