I find beans cook more evenly without salt and acid( tomato or vinegar). Once the beans are done I just season the beans with salt and taste the bean water. Once the bean water taste good to me I allow the beans to soak up the salt that I added.

I first put the pot on saute mode add sofrito( Puerto Rican mix of blended onions,garlic,peppers,cilantro,cilantro. Etc.) Add 1 bullion cube, 1 tbsp tomato paste, mix until well incorporated. Then add the water and beans and cumin. Put pot on beans setting. Perfect beans everytime. I add chopped cilantro at the end to up that flavor.

Black Eyed Peas instead and this worked well. I used a little too much water but they're fine. Interesting comments. I guess they aren't familiar with Pressure Cookers. My base seasoning is Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, and Italian Herb Blend. Good beans without the hours and hours of soaking and "pot parenting". Mixed them with the rice from your other video. I'm stuffed. Thanks for feeding me.

43 yrs ago we made everything from scratch at Taco Bell. The beans were cooked in pressure pot, when done a spice packet was added, paint mixer on drill to blend up. Then trayed up and frozen so to be ready next day. The other fun tool would be the sheetrock mud rack, since we cooked up such large amounts of beans & meat that typically was frozen to start.

Thanks for the video. Something I do that you might like-- rather than free-pouring salt ( or spices)- I almost always pour the salt into my palm to verify the amount first, then put it in the recipe. Easy and controlled. Also when putting salt on already cooked food, I put it in my palm them rub the palms together over the food to distribute it evenly across the top rather than using a shaker. It really lets you have a direct sense of the amount you are putting on, without dragging out the measuring spoons.

I tried a couple of ways . Most people recommend cooking on high level for 10 to 15 minutes. I found that the way you do it on high slow cook for 35 to 45 soaked beans works best for cooking with the instapot. If I am home all day I cook 9 hours in a crockpot. Thanks !

You just gave me a great idea! I can use my crock pot to make beans rather than buying a instant pot. Im trying to avoid having more appliances in my kitchen.
@deputydillhole Жыл бұрын
@@acdcmiami I highly recommend ditching the crock pot and replacing it with the instant pot. The instant pot can be used as a crock pot if desired. I used to use my crock pot all the time but haven't used it a single time since getting the pressure cooker. It does the same thing just much much faster, and it gives the option to brown/sauté meats and vegetables before adding the other ingredients without using more pans. Under pressure a frozen pork roast will be done in about 2.5 hours versus about 6 hours in a crock pot. Take off an hour if it isn't frozen. I bought a large Instant Pot knock off made by the brand Crock Pot. It is awesome. I haven't noticed any difference in the food quality at all.

Can you explain the release button- new on this thing instant pot
@claudiamariana14054 ай бұрын
The release button/knob needs to be on "Sealed" when it's cooking. After the cook time is up, you can leave the beans sitting there until the silver release button goes down on its own OR you can move the knob away from "sealed" so that it can release all of the built up pressure. Whichever way you decide to go with, do not open the instant pot until the silver release button next to the knob has gone down. That means it is safe to open the lid.

The BEST pinto beans are made using “Casserole” brand pinto beans! Along with a can of Rotel & adding at least 2 slices of cut up Wright’s bacon gives them a perfect balance… If you don’t want spicy beans, use a can of diced canned tomatoes… I also add cumin & chili powder when I want Mexican bean soup… Learned this from my grandmother many years ago, and I’m 71!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
