The fact that the "odd instruments" aren't just sampled and then pitch-shifted and filtered through a bunch of FX adds so much more to this video, the limitation of their sounds is exactly what's interesting to see and hear, how it will be creatively used to counter these limitations. Too many "making a whole song out of a salt shaker" is just basically more about synthethizing than anything else.

I've always loved using Found Sounds. ex: my bathroom faucet had a loose washer in it, so it would SQUEAK / SQUONK / SHUDDER when you cranked the water up. I used it ala Free-Jazz saxophone! Or I did a duet for SQUEAKY DOOR HINGE, and Moog synth (where I made the synth mimic the sounds of the squeaky hinge!) Too bad the Blue Klux Klan has falsely arrested me 47 times and destroyed or stolen most of my musical gear and instruments, my HDrives, and 99% of my archives, cuz kkkops can do anything they want and the press and ACLU will cover for them. Watching Rob try to play an accordion was adorable. It's typically played seated, so you can support both sides with your knees.
@felixgla30
@felixgla30 2 жыл бұрын
Hate to be that "well actually" guy but you actually only support one side of the accordion. Normally you’re sitting slightly turned to your left and support the bigger side with the keys (or some people prefer to support it more under the bellow) and the bass side is completely free to move and only hold by your left hand. Or you could play standing up like Rob no problem, he should just have put on the other strap over the other shoulder and it would perfectly stay up even without holding it with your hands.

God, the first song reminded me of "outer wilds" so much. I had a smile on my face as rob played the chords on the accordion. And i had the urge to burn a marshmellow...

That popcorn bowl /bike song has no business being that good! Inspiring me to put my ass into gear over the weekend as I struggle making a song with a marimba and a skatepunk drum beat.

Why is it the Top 40 is not having that kind of music? It's organic, creative, fun, unique and catchy. Instead, we have to bear with overproduced and boring *hits*. I love this channel.

Don’t shit on certain music to ‘compliment’ other music. It’s an insult to the people who poured so much time and effort into their art. Just compliment the music without the unnecessary dig.

As I stated in another one of your videos, while I have no musical talents, for fun, I began buying musical instruments at flea markets for real cheap, beginning in the 1980s. All were in perfect working condition and none were sold for more than $50.00. A large German accordion, two saxophones, ( a tenor & an alto) a silver flute, a ebony clarinet, bongos, and that Vietnamese peculiar bamboo flute-thingie. I used to know the name of it, and on You Tube, I found someone, who plays one exclusively. It is quite primitive, made of bamboo tubes/stalks, combined with a small hollow coconut, and some bees wax to seal all the juncture points. I love all your videos.
