I love you used an open tuning as an introduction. I've had the same idea as a great way to introduce people to playing in a way where they can have fun making good sounding stuff right away. Just hey, strum open, hold here, hold here and look! You're already playing a huge chunk of all popular music! Wanna slide around or pick individual notes? It's gonna sound great. I wish more people would do that, it's a great way to potentially introduce so many basic concepts in any order that the student could want or handle while getting to have fun actually making music.

I feel like the first step to teaching any instrument is teaching the easiest thing that is genuinely fun to do. On piano that'll be having someone fuck around with the black keys, on guitar open tuning. It's just a smooth way to encourage improvisation and creativity while also teaching techniques like proper strumming, barré or palm muting

I think Louisville was about a foot higher, maybe just under Leap of Faith height, but Lyon is gnarlier because of the distance, and the history. He tried that drop at Hollywood High, which was probably higher than Leap, like 28 stairs high, and kneed himself and broke his lower jaw back into his mouth; so horrible. That dude Gabe Gasanov kinda landed a cannonball down it; liker Baker Baker Baker maker, but he rolled away with a broken foot.

More of these kinds of videos please! Pro Musician vs. Pro Chef, Pro Musician vs. Pro Artist (painting, drawing, sculpting, etc.), Pro Musician vs. Pro Athlete, that sort of thing. You show them music, they show you their profession. This one is so fun to watch, and as a musician, it really brings me great joy seeing someone pick up and learn to play an instrument (or at least have fun messing around) just like Rob showed Aaron here. You could see how happy it made Rob whenever everything just easily clicked with Aaron, and Aaron was very clearly having a fantastic time too, and maybe even caught the music bug and will continue his journey in music lol. It is just so awesome to see someone "get" it and realize how much damn fun it is to play music with other people, and why we love doing it so, so much. There really isn't any other feeling in the world like it. I still remember the sheer euphoria that rushed over me as my buddies and I were able to actually learn a song as a band for the very first time. I couldn't help but laugh and smile the whole time like "holy shit, we're making music right now!" It really feels like you're conjuring up magic. Such an awesome experience, and so cool to watch someone else kinda get hit by that music high for the first time too. There's nothing else like it.

@@TheAnimeist I learned to ollie like 10 years ago. Haven't picked up a board since then. I would also consider myself a "stranger to the board". I don't think there was anything disingenuous or dishonest whatsoever about anything in this video. That's like saying Jaws is a liar for saying he doesn't know anything about instruments because he plays the jaw harp. Also, since when was lying against KZbin policy? Hyperbole is now something we should be censoring?

Raises an interesting question of whether humans that show natural rhythm are drawn to endeavours such as skating, rollerblading, extreme sports etc.

I mean I definitely feel it. I’d say I’ve got decent natural sense of rhythm and I’ve always wanted to learn how to skate, just never have had anywhere flat and smooth to learn on where I live. It’s just all bumpy roads and the parts that are smooth are just covered in pebbles. Maybe one day I’ll move somewhere where I can learn to skate.

Part of the reason I love snowboarding is cause it allows me kind of getting a rhythm going and reach a "flow state". Even though it relies on me first to be focused and tight or loose as I want it can still be an experience shared with shared with friends kinda playing off eachother others styles and teaching eachother just like music

The reason I mentioned this is because I did skating when I was younger and am now a guitar player, I've always loved music when doing any kind of activities! it was just a weird shower thought of sorts. It's completely anecdotal and I understand there's no actual science behind it!

His big ridiculous grin while on the drums is itself inspiring. That level of enjoyment is what everyone aspires to!
