i was pumping out 10 cat houses a day with 2" R-10 styrofoam insulation and 1/8th inch ply, i was making these basic sip walls and roofs, packaging up one cat house kit per box and sent 150 of them to Aoshima, Japan (cat island).... They need a vet out there to spay and neuter a half a million cats, a lot of them require medical attention.

I have a cat rescue (40+). Their mobile home had a burst water pipe and was damaged beyond repair. Been looking at all kinds of cat houses to build. Your idea was great. I would/will use some sort of latch to hold down roof for easier access. Bless you for taking care of this baby. Thanks for sharing.👍

I am going to incorporate your design for my next outside cat house. I currently have five feral cats (that have been with us for about a year now), a family of five skunks, a raccoon, and a lone opossum. The cats are the second litter from the momma that we have taken care of, finally getting all of them fixed. The first litter we found homes for. My son is allergic to cats or we'd have them all inside by now ha. A few weeks back I was actually able to pet one of the skunks, against my girlfriend's best wishes. No spray or nothing. The skunks butt actually moves up like a cat does when you scratch the lower back/ butt area. It was insane. I got it on video for all the people that called BS haha. I am the manager of a garage door company so I installed a couple legit windows in my first cat house and cut up a bunch of pallet wood (sanded and stained). This time I will probably go your route though and use plastic. Sounds a lot easier for sure. I will make mine a little wider and I am thinking about adding a second level with a perch. My first one has two levels and the cats seem to enjoy that. Again, great video dude.

Great job! Yours is much sturdier than mine; I got somegreat tips from watching you build it. How did your cat like it? What did you use for flaps on the door and escape door? I couldn’t come up with door covers that held enough heat in, and at this point, am using some temporary (not pretty) door covers made by encasing a couple layers of an old blanket in those heavy contractor grade black plastic bags, folded and stapled closed to prevent rain and snow from getting in. It’s okay, because the weight keeps the wind from being able to blow them, but we don’t have as much cold weather as you guys...I’m in central Texas. I also use a panel heater that hangs on the wall, just above their straw bed....it’s the kind that hangs on the wall of a chicken coop It warms the air instead of them coming in contact with a heat mat, which I have seen is too hot for constant contact. I know of a cat up north that I think is being hurt by sleeping on one, but his alternative is going out in the snow, so he chooses to stay on the heating pad, which doesn’t heat anything but what is actually touching it...just a heads up, in case you notice any problems. I’m going to install some plexiglass windows like you did because they are not able to see out and it’s really dark inside. I hope your cat is using his shelter. Thanks for sharing your build!

Cats are funny. Bless you for trying. Have you tried putting his food in there? I bought (not cheap) igloo that my outside friend didn’t seem to use, but this winter it was used a lot by the strays as a great dry feeding place. 👍🙏🏻

You could add a shelf inside for a cat to lay. And easy for exit

I'm using straw because fabric holds moisture. Even with a heat pad - which can be dangerous - there is still moisture. Also this build may be too big to hold body heat. A more snug space with dry straw is what many rescues recommend. Not being over critical, just helping and thinking what a big heart you have to think of a helpless animal.
