Yes, the panels have already been sound deadening from the factory, therefore no need to add all that extra weight as it won't do much more. The closed cell foam will help.

Top tip too... Use a warm-air-gun to aid adhesion to cold panels first..

Good practical demonstration of what to do. Good solid work. Your van is taking good shape

I´ve seen a video were they tested Armaflex with and without sound-deadning mat, suprisingly (for me) the one with only Armaflex was 5 db quieter.

Even in Hungary we had that sandy rain...
@ABusAndBeyond2 жыл бұрын
Wow! Didn’t realise it had spread that far
@ecyfoto2 жыл бұрын
What about windows? I’d have thought you’d install those before adding insulation/sound deadening materials. I’m confused.
@TheFjordpony2 жыл бұрын
Southern Germany here. The sand is horrendous. Thick layer left over by the rain which even with light pressure doesn't wash off completely. Roof windows look a bit like a slight layer of snow is on them..
@johnstraw61382 жыл бұрын
I believe it is also a Butyl mat from the factory on the panels. Note Benz didn’t put them in the sprinters!

Great to see your conversion progress and process! What are you doing with the doors? Some people just go ahead and insulate them too. Others don’t do it not to risk insulation getting wet, and to let water flow down the doors…
@ABusAndBeyond2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. We will be insulating the doors as we don’t want condensation on them. We shouldn’t have water getting to the actual insulation as it’ll be covered with the vapour barrier

How many boxes of dodo insulation did you need to cover your van ?

In Portugal we had a lot of that sandy rain, the air quality was the worst and all cover by "sand"

Great video thanks for making it…did you sell the defender or do you still have it 😀
@ABusAndBeyond2 жыл бұрын
Sadly we sold it 😭. With having the Crafter now as well as two cars we just couldn’t fit another car in! We miss it loads! It was so good!

I’m guessing those green panels are sound deadening from the factory

Thanks This video really cleared up a few things for our first full time van. How long does the discount last?

It should last for quite a while but not entirely sure. Thanks for watching 👍

Great channel shaun but y have u gone for a self conversion?
@ABusAndBeyond2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. We went self build because we wanted the challenge and also had yet to find something that was perfect for our needs. These big vans cost around £100k fully converted so therefore it would need to be perfect
