Jinn's are territorial, but revenants just prefer to hang out in their room. I think that's where you're getting mixed up. Jinn's don't like it when you're in their room more than other ghosts, they'll roam but be more passive... until you're in their room, then they get mad. But revs will just hang out in their room more than other ghosts, but when a hunt triggers, they warp drive from their room to wherever you are thanks to that extra hunt speed. Another test to distinguish for this type of challenge might be to throw electronics in the room and see what objects they prefer to fiddle with. Jinn's should prefer the electronics.

Mares will turn lights on, a lot of ghost behavior is too messy to guess on. I've had games run for 30 minutes with no room dropping below 10C just to guess and have the 3rd evidence be freezing temps. A lot of the times I catch freezing its with a thermo, and its for a split second, not long enough to show your breath. I've also confused the ghost cloud for freezing temps a couple times, easy mistake in the moment. Hallway ghosts the only real way I've ever been able to reliably get book to write is to have it hunt and have someone observe over camera exactly where in the hallway it spawns. I've had ghost orbs in 2 rooms in school on almost opposite ends, upstairs right bathrooms and then right side downstairs as soon as you walk in on the right. I've had the Ouija board tell me a ghost is outside on Asylum (it was downstairs right side in the room directly in front of the stairs, we hid there .-.). I've had hallway ghosts where freezing temps and ghost orbs were on opposite sides of the hallway and I've had hallway ghosts that dropped the entire maps temperature to below 10C in rooms and freezing in the entire hallway sections. Actually just about the only strategy I use for nailing an exact ghost room on Highschool or Asylum is video camera observation during a hunt. I've been bamboozled way too many times lol Typically even hallway ghosts favor a room to spawn in rather than spawning in the hallway, but nailing that room is nigh impossible with certain ghost rolls unless you see it walk outta there on hunt. You can get spirit box, emf and thermo all through walls in adjacent rooms and even upstairs/downstairs separations. Honestly I've just accepted that there will be games where you cannot collect all 3 evidences, and the only bits of "behavioral" evidence that I accept is: Sanity loss using the Ouija board Demon I have yet to experience a Jinn that turns off the breaker, but have experienced Mare turning lights on in several if not multiple games Poltergeists throwing multiple objects at the same time Wraith no salt footprints Even the Jinn sanity mechanic is unreliable, the revenant hunt speed is too risky to attempt. Taking a picture of a phantom is sketchy as well, you'd have to do it a couple of times to really nail whether it disappeared because of the camera or not.

I decided to try doing these aswell. but I will always go solo, so I gave myself 4 spins on the item tables (not that it helped much...) I got 4 ready to go. I will play them in a row...these are them 1- Bleasdale spirit box tripod ghost book motion sensor. good feelings on this one, I think I might get it. 2- Crafton tripod headcamera photocamera EMF reader This is harder... but I could get something done...maybe... hopefully it leaves fingerprints... 3- Bleasdale (again) tripod (yes, 3 in a row) motion sensor lighter infrared sensor I do not think I can do this one... just nothing to work with unless it's a phantom and the infrared stops it somehow... 4- Edgefield Crucifix Flashlight Video camera Spirit box. certainly doable...weirdly enough, I'm not sure if I'm happy that I have a flashlight or not... gonna let you know later if I managed any of these.

(was writting these when I went to the truck) 1st: Edgefield found ouija board, found the room. good start. it talked almost imediatly and it was cold aswell. so demon, wraith, mare. I didn't see any orbs, and it was active really fast. so I went with demon. it was an aggresive wraith.(in hindsight, I should have tried using the ouija board to figure it out) 2nd: Grafton Didn't bother adding the tripod and the headcam. It turned a light on, so I found the room when I went to check that part of the house. asked for a sign, it turned the light off and imediate EMF 5. I took 4 pictures of things it touched, no fingerprints. I somehow have 95 sanity... are jinn still bugged? It was cold aswell, so no jinn. banshee or phantom. it turned the power off. I turned it on. went into it's and kept asking for it to appear. at one point it closed the door, turned the light off and went "aaaaaaaaaaaarg", I took the picture but he wasn't there. I went to leave and it closed the front door in my face while I was about to live and went "aaaaaaaaaarg" again, in the dark.(because the lights in the room don't actually illuminate the entire room... great stuff) I tried staring at where I believed it was(if it even was there). if my sanity was shit after that it must be a phantom. sanity was literally 100%. I decided to go with banshee, since closing the exit door on my face is kinda of a banshee thing... it was a phantom (again, in hindsight. I took pictures of stuff and found no prints, should have went with phantom) also, apparently phantoms are bugged...idk... 3rd: Bleasdale I wasn't even done sweeping the house with the spirit box and it started hunting (I was in the attic even...good stuff) sanity 75% based on the sounds during the hunt, I figured it was somewhere on the 2nd floor. based on aggresion alone, I wanna say demon or oni. It turned a sink on, found the room. it's cold. It refused to talk, I left the book. sanity 61. checked again, no box, no writting. sanity 55. it didn't turn light off, ruling out mare. went to check again, nothing. started to think I had the wrong room. It hunted again. after the hunt, it killed the power. but based on the sounds, I think it's room is actually the one in front of the bathroom. I went to get the book, put it in the room and leave. (I dropped the spirit box on the ground, but it must have clipped in the wall somewhere, I could not find it; but I had given up on the box at that point) It started another hunt really fast after the first one. so when I realized what was going on, I did not react fast enough (as in, completely lost where I was in the dark and could not find the door in time) so I died. I was gonna think about what it could be if I ruled out writting and spirit box when I got back in the truck (it's banshee and phantom) but I died so I just looked at what it was, it was a banshee. I did not bother doing the other one after these.

I have the belief that Spirits are a "chameleon" type of ghost. They seem to consistantly adapt behavioral aspects of other ghosts. Often fooling the ghost hunter into believing them to be something else.

I felt like it wasn’t actually going that fast because you were able to travel a good distance to safety two times whereas a revenant would have probably caught you. Keep in mind the ghost room was between the door and your hiding spot meaning the ghost would usually be close to that area.

Just wondering if it might be better to have two separate randomiser wheels for equipment. One wheel for equipment used for collecting primary evidence which you spin once, then another wheel with all the other equipment on that you spin twice. With your current system I'm waiting to see you get Solo Asylum with head-cam, tripod and candle (which will be good for a laugh I suppose).

@@TripleB87 Well, all these ghosts do that and apparently in the Phasmophobia universe, ghosts can be inadvertently summoned or drawn to locations that don't necessarily have anything to do with them personally. And they all kill people for fun (except for that one in the tutorial, which implies docile ghosts are a thing too).

I'm not a scientific genius with this game, but i believe based off of what's on the whiteboard for side tasks, you can deduct to what it is possibly. For example one of the side task said something about smudge sticks (which spirits don't like) and not being able to use them could mean that you'd only have to find 2 evidence and look at the board for other possible tasks, because all tasks should be possible (unless you dont have the tools).

Not sure if ruling out Mare/Jinn right off the bat was joking but I've had Mares turn on lights and Jinns turn off breaker. Actually with how many times the breaker went off I would've considered Mare as an option at first. Also I've had temps take a good 20+ min on professional to drop to freezing although maybe that's fixed on beta. Also hunt speed...Jinns are supposed to move faster when far away but I watched one on cams on highschool for quite a while and that never seemed to happen. Saw it hunting, turn around and start chasing someone far away, then lose line of sight and return to its default path. Never changed speed. So I don't know. Haven't observed a Revenant yet.

It's like a fun learning experience instead of just straight up running down a list of teaching points in a guide video.

Is the revenant slow af when you're hiding, and since you are outside I think the game considers you are hiding. It only goes fast when it sees you I think? at least that's my experience with it.

It goes fast when it has direct line of sight of the player (maybe also shortly after it hears loud sound?). Objects/Walls break this line of sight and then the ghost usually just moves towards the area of the closest player. Maybe part of his character could clip through a door partially, letting the ghost see him if he was against it? Doubt it would see him otherwise. *Line of Sight:* All ghosts besides the Banshee send out two rays (Think of them as lasers), that act as it's FOV I would guess, and when a player crosses them they are in the ghost's line of sight (A Banshee picks one player inside the house and only focuses on hunting them, ignoring other players until the target is dead or he was lucky enough to leave the house in time). Wraiths would be OP if walls didn't block ghost's sight. *Revenant behavior:* If it was Revenant I'm pretty sure it would be right behind him (heartbeats) because they are 2x faster than other ghosts (Except Jinn, when the fusebox is on and it's over 4 meters away). That was a large distance with him directly in the ghost's sight, so it would've easily caught up since it went for him immediately after he shouted. Revenants are only 30% slower than default speed when it doesn't see someone, but is very noticeable compared to it's speed when it sees you.

@@chromitem1319 I would assume it would lose most of it's speed when it gets close. The speed boost only happens when the fusebox is on. I haven't seen anything about a speed boost when it's close, that's only revenant that has that. One really good way to tell it could be a Jinn is if activity spikes way above normal when you are in it's room.

@@XodiasRX maybe you know the answer to these questions but i'd like to do extensive testing to see regardless. A: does the sound of footsteps from a ghost during hunt correlate to speed at all? I've heard revenants in full sprint after a teammate make little to no steps, and i've heard other standard movespeed ghosts make crazy fast footsteps. B: is the banshee's target selected at the time of the hunt or is it like permanent from the start? IE if the target is in the house it'll ignore all others and go for that one but if the target has been chillin in the truck on cams does the banshee pick another target or still only ignore everyone. Or does each hunt choose a new target or something? C: wraiths dont make footprints but they do disturb salt and make footstep sounds right? otherwise the whole toxic reaction to salt thing doesnt really make sense and also i'm pretty sure i've heard footprints from a wraith before D: does having your flashlight on during a hunt actually alert the ghost to where you are at all or is there always just a chance that the ghost will open your door and execute you.

@@Ana-vn1dx A: Most likely not, the sounds are really inconsistent whereas the ghost's move at a constant speed if you spectate them when you're dead. They like to vary there steps sometimes stumbling or skipping steps to make it sound faster/slower than they actually are (Makes it harder for a player to gauge how far away / how fast it is). The ghost at the end of this video probably went into some sort of searching mode when he got behind the first door and changed direction making it sound slower? I don't know if something like this exists for sure, but something has to have been put in place so it doesn't just immediately rush towards the hiding player. The only way you can see a consistent speed is while spectating. Ghost's blinking in and out make it hard to see the actual speed especially since some ghosts blink at different random intervals (Mainly phantoms, which blink every 1-2 seconds, while all other ghost types blink every 0.3-1 seconds). You would only really see a different with a Revenant's speed, Jinn's speed boost doesn't really help it at all, just lets it catch up to a player. B: It is selected at the beginning of the hunt, but I assume a check is done throughout the hunt to see if someone dies or managed to sneak out of the house in time. If a Banshee starts a hunt and the only player inside the house at the time gets out in time, it will return to it's favorite room (Idk if hunt ends or if they just move there during the hunt). Wraith's however DO select a "chosen one" at the beginning of the match and will randomly tp within 3 meters of that player, and only that player, on occasion if they are in the house (EMF level 2 would be left at the new location after this happens). I do not know if this would effect it's hunt starting location or if that's randomly decided at the beginning of each hunt. C: Wraith's do disturb salt and make footsteps, but that doesn't mean the sound will always play. Wraith's spend most of their time floating around and will randomly touch the ground, making a few footstep sounds (Much less than other ghost's make though) D: This is something I would like to know myself as I really have no clue. I would like to think that they do so hunts are more intense, but I haven't seen anything either in gameplay or in the code about it being tracked (This would make hiding in closets hard because the light shines outside of them still).

AW I am so bummed you went with revenant. I am pretty sure you would have died on the last hunt if it was a revenant. I obviously dont do challenges, and if i am unable to find the 3rd evidence, i ALWAYS go with my instinct on behavior and 80% of the times i get it right. The more you look into the secondary evidence the more you will get it wrong i think. All types of ghosts can have different behaviors limited to their specific type. For example what happened here was we had spirit on lockdown, you wanted to get confirmation, we saw 2 hunts and you didnt die. Even though at first steps were faster, it wasnt significantly faster since the footsteps werent catching up to u. I mean from the door to the room was a long distance. ANYWAYS enjoying the content as always and hoping for more more more. Thanks insym

you have to see the ghost i dont think the footstep sounds match the speed if it is catching up when you are "running" the its rev unless it slows back down when it gets close cause thats jinn its the reason you are safe on asylum unless rev
