Solving the Case of the "Lipstick Killer" - Shadows of Doubt

Once I got a case of a guy that got his prop gun stolen. I look through his apartment and I find the gun right there with a bunch of fingerprints. I thought the partner stole it but after checking prints it turned out that the guy who hired me to find his stolen gun stole it from himself. As part of the contract I proceeded to vandalize his apartment. Other time I got a side job that only had a set of fingerprints as useful information. Turns out that the next person that got murdered was the guy I was looking for.

I immediately started playing after watching your first episode. I went to the house of the murder and the police showed up at the same time as me. They knocked on the door and a guy opened up. I took his finger prints. It turned out to be the killer lol.

Another story to add to the book... A woman poisoned in the middle of the street; she was mid-work. No eye witnesses, the killer was quick and left behind only a syringe with their fingerprints on. I tracked down her apartment and found her partner. I thought he'd be distraught, but it was as if no one had told him and he was just carrying on living his life; sad really. I didn't have the heart to tell him. The case goes cold. All leads lead to nowhere. Coworkers are all clear, the only clue, the fingerprints, remains a mystery. Frustration is kicking in... Until he strikes again. Raven is found dead in her apartment; POISONED. It's him, I know it, I just have to look over the CCTV and... No. No one that leads anywhere. More fingerprint mismatches, more rabbit holes with no rabbit and a detective losing his mind. Until Lorcan. The third (and final) victim. The Valentine Viper slipped up and went too close to home. Not only did I catch him on CCTV at the time of the murder, but turns out he's recognised in the building and WORKS at the same place as the vic... A little place called Pagano's, where I made my arrest. Case closed.

As private investigator your character is probably smart enough to wear gloves so you would leave no fingerprints. Hopefully.

For the case around 1:48, if not per se doing it for the amount of cash, I love solving such hard cases. Finding out who it was, for example, finding out who the job came from first and just sometimes, luck cause you stumble upon leads on seemingly impossible cases. So satisfying

I fell in love with this game immediately. I just had a murder case and I was stumped, had a fingerprint which was almost the only thing to go off of. I ended up finding out the murder based off a word jumble I found near the body which I dismissed as a silly game that didn't mean anything. I then noticed that the jumble was " _._ _ _ _ _ _ " which after looking at it after running around the whole city trying to figure anything out I finally realized it had to be a name so I looked in the city directory and actually found a name that fit the puzzle! I went to the house and finally found the matching finger prints! I was too late as they had killed a second person but I still felt very good after figuring out such a hard puzzle.

I've been running around in my medium (I originally tried to gen a small town, but the sync clinic didn't spawn!), literally asking everyone their name (it helps when you have the sync disk fully upgraded for the people are more likely to give info away for free. The fully upgraded is 35%.) I'd say like 75% of the time or prolly even higher than that honestly, I can get people to give their name free. As soon as I started doing that, I noticed my very next murder vic was someone I had already talked to!

Because of your videos, I decided to try the game out on my own seed. My first case was surprisingly hard, but I decided to give it a go. I barely had any info on the Victim, let alone the killer, as there was no ID or wallet in the house for my victim. I did eventually find a place of work, and his contacts. I ended up dicking around a lot at the workplace, robbing the place, when a Elena walked in. She was surprisingly forthcomming with info, and told me she had last seen my victim, after his death. So my gut was telling me it was her, but I had nothing concrete to place her at the crime scene, and no motive known either, as they seemed to be on good terms. So I decided to try going back to the victims building, and seeing if the cameras caught anything. Low and behold, not 10 minutes before the murder, Elena was seen on the cameras, right in front of the victims room. This game really does let you be as creative, and free as you want. It feels good when you find something off, and it turns out to be evidence.

By the way, the way you can investigate the crime scene legally is if there is a roommate in the house, you can knock on the door and if your social credit is high enough, you can pay to get into the building and it’s legal even though it’s crime scene, even police won’t stop you.

You might have found out by now (or before the end of this video lol), but if you turn off the lights and your flashlight, the camera doesn't spot you while trespassing or lockpicking. Also, only if you are very close to someone or a camera you can be spot in the dark, while hiding for example. I've hidden under a desk where I just bashed the door in, only to have them sit down there at the pc for more than an hour in-game.

You absolutely can solve those higher dollar cases even with only the info of first initial, it just requires a LOT of running around to each of the people with that initial from the directory, did one earlier that took a solid 3 or so hours but eventually did find the person

Surveillance footage is extremely useful. If you don't see what you need on the correct floor then look at the lobby. Unless they live in the building they have to come through the lobby.

1:47:43 this might be considered spoiler territory but you can solve that kind of case by investigating the person who gave the job; the perp/target of the mission should be a contact of the job giver. Here, since you got the info via the phone, you have to track the call to identify the job giver first.

A tip is to inspect every character to put it in your database. When you get a mysterious character, put written notes around and if they have with more than 5 floors usually have security rooms somewhere. On blueprints it looks like a tiny square room-not the first floor security. (If you have only signature then look in the resident files)

i also play this game. i've noticed this guy in the newspaper, Gill or whatever his name was, was standing infront of a door leading to a crime scene. he then was running away, got shot by the police, so i put handcuffs on him. searched him, found ammo and a gun, went in to investigate the body (which got shot). he was the murderer. never had that happening before.

i also found out, that if you get fingerprints of the suspect, which leaves a card behind that says something about a promotion, its always someone from the same workplace. so scan the card for fingies, head to the workplace and scan the fingies on the employee pictures, head to the city hall, enter the name and print the address, head to the address and arrest them and find the weapon. i think thats the fastest way to solve it.

This game would be jaw droppingly *STUNNING* in a Blade Runner world, solving crimes, murders, hunting synthetics etc, in this 3D dystopian cyberpunk aesthetic.
