There is no end to my suffering in this video. The comments suggest that’s the way you like it.
This video covers the removal of the rear suspension on my 2000 Integra Type R. I use many tools and techniques to get the job done that you might find helpful.

Eric, You are hitting a home run with this series. The struggle is what most people face when attempting work on their car. The adding of tips and tricks really ads to the video. I wish you could see to going back to this type of thing. When you got into the builds, that was outside of your repair videos and those were my favorite videos. Empowering the average person that wants to learn and needs to save money. My personal thought was that when you went to a lift, you lost some of your average joe appeal. I realize you needed it for the build work you were doing, but not everyone is doing that work. Good luck to you. You sure struck a familiar chord with me with this series. Love your work!!!!!

I am continuing my BA4 Prelude rebuild. I had to remove the rear subframe after I had the same issue. I ended up tearing the nut off the spot welds, because the bolt was fused to the inner bushing. I also took the fight to the ground, before I cut out the bolts/bushings. It's off with a welder now, new bolt and retack all the spot welds before off to powder coating. The only luck was the rears are removable and swappable - if it had come to that.

I did the rear suspension on an even rustier 6th gen civic and I found map gas to work very well for unseizing the bolt from the bushing. Once the bolt and bushing sleeve opens up the chasiss mount you can apply map gas directly to it and it freeze up easily with just and impact and some vice grips on the bushing sleeve.

Well, rust is very common her in the UK. I normally have to heat up bolts and/or nut to even get a fighting chance of getting any work done. Usually, combo of heat and penetrating oil does the job. In some cases, I have to let soak up overnight, but you get the idea. Looking forward to next vid

The fight today gave me feelings of deja vu working on an a 91 Nissan 240SX that saw a lot of Chicago winters. Lots of snapped bolt heads all over the place, even a snapped stud for the front bumper support/crash bar, and a similarly stubborn front crossmember bolt that started life welded to a metal strap with a 2nd bolt on the other side. The whole thing drops in from the top of the frame rail, then the crossmember, and then you put the nuts on from below... one of the bolts either was no longer welded to the bar, or came loose when I was trying to break it free of the rust and it kept spinning in place. Took a hell of a lot of effort to get out, and also required a welded repair. Good times.

Good call on the CRV parts. 👍🙂 Found that out the hard way when I got a front wheel bearing that was _definitely_ the correct one for JDM R's from 98, until it clearly wasn't when offered up(this was from Honda too). Measured the old one and went digging and found out it was the exact same size as you guessed it a front wheel bearing from a 90's CRV. Would have gone the same route for bushings like the rear control arm, but it turned out Civic/Teg/CRV were all the same price where I am. Went Hardrace(rubber bushings) for the upper control arm and toe in thingie. Not for performance, but because they were cheaper than Honda(and adjustable as a bonus). That's generally how I've done things suspension wise. Honda or Hardrace, depending on price. I've no problem admitting I'm a total cheapskate. 😁 Plus it's my daily so speed at getting it back on the road is a big factor.

The reciprocating saw DOES work on the rear LCA. You just need the correct blade on it. I snapped the exact bolt head. Went and got a reciprocating saw with a bosch blade for cutting through steel. It literally took 5 minutes to cut straight through the inner bush and bolt. It's good when you get those bolts out.
