Pedro Datta was born in Buenos aires, Argentina in 1887. The son of immigrant Italians, Pedro and Dominga Pastore, he lived in the ‘Villa Urquiza’ neighbourhood of Buenos Aires where he worked as a clerk. He died in Buenos Aires on the 7th October 1934. As with many of his contemporaries, he was caught up in the meteoric rise in popularity of the tango at the beginning of the 20th century and was admired as both pianist and composer in the genre, although, according to a friend of his at the time (Gabriel Clausi), he never played in public.
