Definitely could feel the Tenet vibe. Nice work. I love the Metropolis and what it does, and also love my Rene 2 for its multi tracking capabilities, but the Metropolix is next level. Thanks for sharing!

Rene 2 is one of my favorite sequencers too. I tried to recreate the 'stages' concept with an extra gate sequencer on any cartesian sequencer. Maybe this video will inspire you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZPdYmmff7F2i80

I randomly skipped to the middle of the video to check out where it was headed, and without reading the description I immediately went 'Oh, Tenet!'. You nailed that!

Thank you! Still nothing compared to the original, but it's cool to try it on a modular.

nice one! love to see non-techno on the metropolix:)

Thanks! I feel the Tenet part is a kind of Techno without a kick drum so I wasn't sure if you meant you would like to see this video without the techno stuff. But the first part is almost ambient so I guess it's OK :).

i used metropolis for years as a drum sequencer!

Well, that's not an obvious choice but worth exploring! This would be a great video item. Thanks for the inspiration.

Would Varigate 8+ help with sequencing rachets? And 16 steps.
@CinematicLaboratory3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! I can get similar results with - let's say - Rene and a separate gate sequencer like Metron. With most sequencers a step is tightly linked to one note and without a Metropolis/x you need to break that connection. So it's doable, but it requires at least two modules.

v8+ is THE BEST ratcheter in euro!
@Portamentopirate4 ай бұрын
Are you modulating BPM to get the increased ratchet speed on the last step? Or does it just have more ratchets on it? New Metropolix owner looking to get that stretching ratchet sound. Your patch sounds awesome!

I think I used ratchets on the last two steps to make them last longer.

The ECR-1 Convolution Reverb. When you look it up on my channel you can see how I created an impulse file from the Replika XT plugin and loaded it in the ECR-1. This thing can create space from any live environment, but it can also create space from stuff that will never exist in real life. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmW5d2qihKqMkJI

Or you could pay 40% more and get an 8 track sequencer that does all this and a lot more.. (Five12 Vector)
@CinematicLaboratory3 жыл бұрын
Making the right choice is one of the hardest parts of eurorack, but I agree you can't go wrong on a Five12 Vector. However, I am not sponsored so I have to pick modules that fit my workflow best and to be honest, I totally forgot to consider the Five12 vector.

@@CinematicLaboratory it’s the best. I don’t feel I ever need any other sequencer.

Or you could just be ok with the fact that some people don’t need 8 tracks and a module that eats up literally half of their road skif. If you are looking for an excellent 303 bass/acid style sequencer this is a great option. It’s concise and lends itself to rhythmic exploration.
@NickHchaos2 жыл бұрын
@@THEMISSING76 i almost never use that many myself, just value wise, I would never buy a 2 track seq, it’s crazy limiting. I used to have a Stillson Hammer mk 2 and that was 4 track..6 years ago. Those old giant Yamaha sequencers that people like Squarepusher use are like what, 16 tracks and a 1000 note limit per track or something? A lot of eurorack can be way too limiting. There’s a reason a lot of people who want to make music with them use stuff like a Cirklon.

Get a Nerdseq...
@CinematicLaboratory3 жыл бұрын
Nah, already have one. It's probably the most powerful sequencer out there, but power comes with a price. I just can't find the time to figure it out and sometimes you'd want something that just works right from first patch. But there will be a NerdSeq video one day. Maybe a starterkit video because it's a very powerful package if you have to start from scratch.

You mentioned multing CV to several voices but sending each varying gates. I’ve been having trouble with this in practice with my Rene 2, in that it obviously sends CV rather than “note data” as you’d find in midi. Problem is that a note is played each time a voice module receives CV, regardless of what gates I’m sending it. I heard certain sequencers (Metropoli*, Eloquencer, Stillson Hammer) are smart enough to align CV/gate being sent without requiring a sample and hold or something. Maybe that’s being “modular lazy,” but I’d love to hear your thoughts on what I consider to be an important feature.
