Put something soft underneath your butt, give your legs a little bend at the knee, and make sure you squeeze your abs super hard to make sure there is no unwanted extension of the lower back

almost all lower ab exercises unfortunately normally place a lot of stress on the hip flexors .. just gotta keep strengthening those abs so those hips don't overcompensate! try crossing your feet too to take away some of that tension
