Mimir is a real brother to Kratos. He saw that Freya was starting to step over the line with Kratos. Asking questions that would’ve potentially hurt him. So Mimir stopped it to avoid Krato’s memory of his wife being harmed. Even though he’s tough and could take it, he still didn’t want his bro to be hurt. That’s genuine loyalty and respect.

Well Mimir seems to genuinely like Kratos as despite the fact he's a disembodied head he's still a got a lot of genuine care for a select people (Kratos is literally the opposite of Odin in nearly every way).

I think nobody is talking about the other reason, which in my opinion is maybe the real reason why faye send them to jotunheim. Faye wanted kratos to open up to the world like he did to her, she wanted her son to live outside the confines of that forest, see the world and them going on a journey was the only way both of them could learn about each other and form a strong bond. Atreus and Kratos’s relationship would be far worse if he just kept them safe in that little patch of woods and never seeing and interacting with the world. She just wanted whats best for both his husband and son. She gave Kratos a chance at happiness that would atleast heal the hole Kratos would have after she dies, but only if he goes out and see the world with his son.

This dialogue and the ending where Kratos finds his prophecy mural actually prove that Faye did sent out Kratos and Atreus on their journey willingly because she knew both of them will not end in a tragic fate. Kratos refuses to believe that Faye would want him to take part in Ragnarök because of the thought of him being a destroyer who will avenge her kind to Odin. But the truth is, Kratos’s path has been set on the brighter side of Ragnarök. He does not lead the army for the sole purpose of vengeance, he lead the war to Asgard and Odin but with conscience he saved the Aesir civilians, tries to make peace with Thor, and only brought down Odin. In the aftermath of it, he is never destined to be just a destroyer, he becomes the God of Peace worshipped by the people out of his good deeds. That’s why he cries when he sees his prophecy mural. Faye sent him out knowing a brighter path awaits him thus giving him a new purpose worthy of fulfilling

As Kratos once said “what will you do? The depths of Hades could not hold me, the Sisters of Fate could not control me, AND YOU WILL NOT LIVE TO SEE THE END OF THIS DAY” Kratos is testament to the power of Will. He refuses to stay down as long as he has enough strength and will to do what he must. He denied death, denied fate and will continue to do so until they earn his surrender.
@thewerdna
@thewerdna Жыл бұрын
@vespyr actually she did seem to believe he'd change fate. She destroyed the mural showing his fate to die at the hands of thor, and then (as seem in the ending) painted over that same prophecy with an image of Kratos being worshiped as a beloved god. But ultimately its not that he actually changed fate, as the Norns said there is no such thing as fate. Rather people just make predictable decisions that make it seem like fate because they refuse to change. Ultimately, why Kratos doesn't die is because he does change. That seems to have been Faye's belief: that Kratos' "fate" could be different because he could change

Yes. That was perhaps the opposite, however. Dracula had an opportunity to turn Lisa into a vampire, but did so out of respect to her wishes, and so that he wouldn’t ruin a perfect human as she was to him. Carmella pressing Dracula of this, the leader of all vampires in his domain amongst his consort a year after the death of his wife is a bold but foolish move, and Dracula showed restraint like Kratos did in sparing her life I don’t think Kratos was even considering killing Freya for that. More so he was just trying to avoid the topic

Actually no, the reason Fey asked Karatos to embark on this journey was to because he is the only one who she knew had changed fate. Just think about it, Thors Sons Magni and Modi were prophecies to survive Ragnarok but they both died by Karato hand not because it was written but necessary. Yes a few prediction did come true, like them meeting the world serpent but it's quite hard avoiding that so it that slide, Baldur was the next enemy and he would also die not because Kratos hated him but because he refused to change. The dwarfs nor Freya who plays a very big role are not even mentioned in the shrine. So that's why I strongly believe the Fey did not put Kratos on that path, she simply have a task and kratos forged his own path be it for better or worse

@andreiriboli

Actually, I believe she foresaw everything correctly, from the beginning to the end. And, when the Jötnar saw a terrible fate for Kratos, she saw a different one, a good one, for both Kratos and the nine realms. That's why she destroyed the mural in Jotunheim, so that the "good ending" she foresaw (the one where Kratos becomes a beloved god) would come true. Anyway, we don't know for sure, but that's what I assume is correct, considering all the information we got from both games. So, I believe Faye did foresee everything the way it happened, but never told anyone.

She wanted to let them see how they got far, but never wanted to shackled both her boys on prophecy. For the dream sequence, i think is that it was simply her fearing prophecy and submitting to it. She does not want her family to face Ragnarok, “but there is no time left” because Odin is coming. “Death is a natural part of life” because her boys are literally charging to Ragnarok the next day. “Protect our son” because Atreus is in Asgard More or less. And it turns out she was right, Kratos was the prophecized champion of the Jötnar, the most logical candidate. What she was wrong about is that Faye was pushing him down that path, turned out she destroyed the jotunheim mural depicting the death prophecy (hence the mural to the left depicting Faye arguing with a bunch of giants) in the hopes that Kratos and Atreus would find their own paths for themselves, while the giants likely wanted prophecy to play out to ensure Odin’s downfall, which was the source of Faye’s disagreement with them.

I bet, Freya would have been really happy if Kratos would turn back to his past days of Blind Rage and bloodlust. Asgard wouldn't stand a chance, but of course the one we got was a much better way in my opinion. He showed a little brutality in Heimdall's death, but come on , Heimdall asked for it by making him angry. After that, he quickly gathered himself and remembered his oath that he would never become a monster again. He just protected his child from that point on , talked sense into Thor to do the same , and they don't have to do this. Shame Odin was such a snake, that he killed his own son.

If Kratos really 'lost control' with Heimdall, he would have been a lot more brutal than beating him into the ground and strangling him. The best part is that one of Kratos's most badass lines are the reason he doesnt trust Fate, other than him being the subverter of it, is "Do what is necessary not because it is written". Kratos does what he needs to because he has one goal, protect Atreus. It is his choice to do that and ever since his change by Faye, Atreus, Mamir, fraya and the others, he makes uncharacteristic choices for the future and himself. Which is why he changed an outcome because he wanted to be better when he told Atreus "you feel their pain because that is who you are. I was wrong, Open your heart to their suffering". He did what was necessary because he knew deep down if he was going to die, he didnt want his last actions to be damaging to Atreus.

For instance, Kratos, in this moment, was probably thinking something along the lines of "I am beginning to feel a lot less guilty for snapping your son's neck in front of you" nah but fr It was really interesting to see Faye's character criticized like that by the game itself, I like the suggestion that Kratos and Faye had a healthy but flawed relationship not just from Kratos being super closed off but from Faye being very secretive and a bit inconsiderate.

This is all speculation, we have no idea when the Jotnar learned about Kratos and the prophecy etc. Kratos and Faye were together for 29yrs before they had Atreus according to Lore & Legends, so she could of learned about the prophecy and so on after already being in a relationship with him. I mean they tried to kill each other when they first met, if she already knew about the prophecy she wouldn’t of risked being killed by him, or killing him herself. Also she went against her own people to protect her boys, because maybe she didn’t want her husband dying or her son to serve Odin. So by letting them forge their own path, rather than follow prophecy, they both live, are happy, and are free. If Faye only cared about killing the Aesir, she wouldn’t of tried to make Kratos a better person, she’d of tried to keep him an unstoppable rage fuelled beast. The prophecy showed him dying to presumably Thor, not why he would die. Most people would assume being kind when facing a powerful god would get you killed, while being heartless would improve your chances of winning. It seems more likely that her trying to make him better, to open his heart to the world, was because she cared about him and her son. And also wanted the father and son relationship to be great, as I doubt it would of been had they just remained in their little isolation in the woods. The first prophecy apparently had both Thor and Odin alive, but the one they see at the end of Ragnarok didn’t show them dead, so they very well could be alive. I mean Kratos spares Thor and Odin, so it certainly seems to indicate Faye’s intent wasn’t to kill Thor or Odin, but to create a better life and future for her family as she says herself in the flashback.

@@jesusolguin5896 I should of used some paragraphs in my previous comment to give people a break, but ah well. I personally don’t think so, everything we’ve heard about her, seen of her, leads me to believe she wouldn’t do something like that. Angrboda states Faye went against her own people, and it seems clear that had the Jotnar had their way, Kratos would be dead and Atreus would be serving Odin, as that was the prophecy. Thor would also still be alive, therefore the Giants wouldn’t be free, nor would the realms be free from Odin and Thor. We also know there’s no such thing as fate/destiny it’s just choices, cause and effect etc. And on the final mural in the game, none of it shows Kratos or Atreus’s ending, except for the painted over part of Thor killing Kratos that was done by Faye or Angrboda? So Faye likely had no idea what outcome would be realised when she destroyed the prophecy mural in Jotunheim, only that she wanted her husband and son to forge their own path, create their own ending. That’s my belief anyway. Hell it was Kratos changing his ways, opening his heart, (that according to the devs) changed his fate. He didn’t open his heart and so on throughout the whole of both games until the last minute of Ragnarok. So Faye is either the best seer/oracle beyond any of her own people, or she just had faith in her husband, and tried to make him a better man, to free him from his depression, self loathing, anger etc. I’m leaning towards the latter. If Faye was using Kratos, the only reason i can see for her doing so, would be for revenge/to get rid of Odin and Thor, and/or free her people. But as I said, the prophecy had both of them living, and in the final hidden mural, it didn’t show them dead there either. Though it did show Thor standing over a dead/dying Kratos. Therefore it stands to reason Faye couldn’t be sure her revenge would be achieved, and so I don’t think it’s what she intended, and instead intended what I said. But hopefully Santa Monica answer all these mysteries etc eventually. Edit: I forget to add one more part, and that’s if what I believe of Faye is true, then why did she get Kratos to cut the trees and send them on the journey she knew would lead to conflict with the Aesir? It’s more or less what I said in my previous comment. I just think she had faith in her husband, and wanted him to be free from his self loathing, anger, depression etc. Think of all the bonding he does with Atreus he never did for 11 years of his life, or the friendships he makes on his journey. Had the duo not gone on their quest, their relationship would likely remain poor, nor would Kratos met the many great people he did, and he also wouldn’t of grew into the God/man Faye believed he could be.

I think Freya was right on pushing Kratos to accept or at least contemplate the fact that his wife was no saint (regardless if she was right or not). I hate the trope “my wife is perfect and could never do anything wrong” so I truly enjoyed this and Minor’s convo about not knowing their wives as much as they thought. I also believe Freya overstepped and might’ve been a tad insensitive but it’s very on character for her to speak her mind very openly. Freya admitted she saw a lot of herself in Kratos and I think she might be one of the few who actually “Knows” him, that’s why she started this convo. Very similar to why Kratos told her about Deimos and commented on her relationship with Freyr especially when she did not want to hear it. It’s hard to admit and love the ugly side of your family
@rukahazuki6650

I have similar idea too. Faye definitely loved Kratos and their son but for them to grow and for Kratos to overcome his past and finally find happiness, they need to explore the realms and eventually involved with the Norse gods because in the end they can't really run away from that fate to become better version of themselves. However in doing so, Faye didn't tell her involvement in all of these ( prophecies, fight with Thor etc) to Kratos which is kind of questionable although she meant well. Just because Faye was a good person doesn't mean that she was 100% pure perfect saint. Everyone has the good and bad side of them. I love this kind of conversation because some players might also have speculation about Faye's intention to be with Kratos.

You saw how brash and unpredictable(in a bad way) with everything that was going on with him. Am I the only one who noticed the background sound getting more tense right before mimir stepped in? Then it calmed down? I like that detail, even if it wasn’t intentional, makes me wonder what would have happened if Mimir didn’t step in.

Y’all mean to tell me she’s wrong though? Don’t matter what Kratos might think Faye was right and did this on purpose. Doesn’t Kratos figure this out by the end of the game (if I remember correctly)?

I got the feeling from the first game that Faye had planned everything down to meeting Kratos, having Atreus and even her death in an attempt to deliberately cause Ragnarok to avenge the Jotnar by destroying Asgard. It would have been far more depressing if she had only used Kratos to have Atreus at first and then actually fell in love after it was too late to stop the prophecy, but when Kratos found out he still succeeds in breaking the prophecy because his love for Atreus was still real even if he was manipulated into having him. I think it would have been an interesting twist to make Faye a villain to some degree but probably too dark for what they were aiming for. I really liked the optimistic ending for this game after all the destruction, manipulation and hatred in the rest of the series.

Faye just used Kratos. Every time they showed her in the game there was no genuine compassion or love in her for Kratos. She just made a weapon out of him. I always got weird vibes from her every time she was on screen. I can't be the only one.

This is something that was in my head even in the last game, I feel like they didnt build upon it because it could take away from the feel their relationship had but I one hundred percent believe she was using him. Sure, maybe she had some passion for him over time, but her being a giant and possibly even seeing future events, she could have known the whole time that to bring down Asgard she needed to woo this pantheon slayer and bear his child to avenge her people. She probably loved Atreus but I feel like a lot of it on both fronts was some iron clad obligation she felt to see that outcome through, leading to breaking the stave and forcing theitlr journey to unfold.

In a side quest it also seem like she deeply hated Thor and in one of the murals, that she for sure saw, Kratos got killed and Atreus summons Jormungandr to kill Thor. One could argue she also saw her son as a weapon against Thor and Odin. Would be super wack tho, Kratos seem to love her genuinely it would be really heartbreaking if he just got used again

Maybe her using him was the plan at first, but she fell in love for real shortly after they met.

If she was using Kratos then perhaps it would be better if she didn't change Kratos's nature of killing a god right. Faye perhaps didn't straight fall in love with Kratos after meeting with him but it changes along the line that she actively tries to change Kratos's fate where he didn't died at Loki's hand. If she doesn't love Kratos then she wouldn't destroy the mural at Jötunheimr

Maybe Faye wanted them to go to Joutenheim so they'd travel together, learn more about the world, make friends, socialize, live a life outside the forest, find a purpose in life and live a good life. Faye would've also wanted Kratos and Atreus to move on with their lives from her, she definitely wanted them to be happy and content and not just mourn her forever. She wanted this for Kratos to forgive himself, to redeem himself, to be a better man and to let go, and for Atreus to grow up, mature, and follow his own path.

Did they reveal in either game how Faye died. I played them both and did all the side quests but I never found the answer.

Freya is absolutely right? Faye is not the person we think she is. She has been leading us into things that only she knows about. Freya also rightly pointed out how Odin always antagonized the giants and nearly wiped them off twice. Odin knew some secrets about the giants. He also personally sent Baldur on mission to track down Faye and Faye was hiding herself in the forest with the spell. Also the very first dialogue in this video, Freya asks if Faye was one of the giants and Kratos says She was Jotnar. This is a possible foreshadowing that Faye is not actually a giant, but was accepting into Jotenheim by the giants perhaps stuck a deal with them. I guess we will get to know who Faye really is and what was her motive to come to Jotenheim the next (possible Atreus spinoff) series. I believe Faye has some connection to the rift Odin was seeking about.
