Interesting Item: International Order of Odd Fellows

This belonged to my Grandfather and was left to me when he passed many years ago. I've cherished it over the years, even though I don't know much about it.

Fascinating.The command of the IOOF is to "visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan". which is a lot nicer than most 'societies' :-)

Very cool. Possible answer to the "PG" Past Grand - After a Noble Grand has served his/her term, that officer is known as “Past Grand”. Past Grands can be appointed to the position of District Deputy Grand Master, and can be delegates to the Grand Lodge. Noble Grand - The “president” of each Odd Fellows Lodge is called “Noble Grand”. Other elected officers are Vice Grand, Secretary, Treasurer and Financial Secretary. Each Lodge also has a number of appointed officers, including Warden, Conductor, Chaplain, Inside Guardian, Outside Guardian, Supporters of the Noble Grand and Vice Grand, Scene Supporters, Musician and Color Bearer.

❤ As a new Odd Fellow a few years ago, I too referred to it as “International” a few times, but indeed it is The INDEPENDENT Order of Odd Fellows. I too am a PG, a Past Grand. Once an Odd Fellow, one (man or lady) may also seek higher degree levels in Rebekahs, Encampment, or the highest level, the uniformed Patriarch Militants (Canton).

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a wonderful society dating back to at least the 17th century. Ive been a member for over ten years and am Past Grand (past president) of my home Lodge. Anyone interested in becoming a member, I’d be glad to point you in the right direction.

@@WizardsPath-if5oq tattoos don’t make the person, their heart does, they wouldn’t keep you from being a member. Odd Fellows and Masons are similar but different at the same time. They both have a system of degrees, grips, passwords and regalia. Both originated in England around the 1600s and both are spread around the world today. What state do you live in? If you type in the name of your state and ioof in the internet it should tell you where there are lodges at.

And also this collar is for a Past Grand (past president) of a local lodge. The president of a lodge is called the Noble Grand, and after his term is up he, or she is called a Past Grand.

Very cool! The IOOF has always been a mystery for me. While growing up in town there was a building across the street from us with an old sign that had IOOF on it. Rarely did I see someone over there. I was just told that it was a men's club. The sign is still there, so maybe this one is still active? I found a Facebook page to our local one that just celebrated 200 years at this lodge. facebook.com/IOOFWenatchee/ Great looking beer too!

Wow cool. They always have these older buildings. They certainly are shrouded in mystery, that's why I compared them to the Freemasons. They never say what actually goes on in those ritual meetings. Intriguing. They do have a womens group too.

@@GunsKnivesandBeer Thanks Mitchell I kind of figured that out after looking at FB. Fifty plus years ago, I never saw any women. So maybe it changed over the years or I'm just wrong. But yes they do kind of keep to themselves.

Nitro pour means a combinations of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide, not Nitrous Oxide. About 70/30 mix.
