On my second video...now I’m addicted...I’m not understanding how anyone can be confused regarding the style?...it’s immediately obvious (well it was to me) what style best suited my rooms without question, it was instantaneous how i feel each room should be after I watched your first video...it unlocked something inside me honestly, each room is suddenly so easy for me to fix....you are a goddess of miracles...the energy that can be unleashed by your rules and guidance is phenomenal, I never realised how a perfect room can make you feel inside…there’s an equilibrium that I am now seeing, it’s almost an awakening.

I think a lot of the Scandinavian pieces fit into the timeless mid-century modern style, especially Danish, Swedish and Finnish designers who created timeless staples of furniture, fabrics, glass and ceramics that are seen in almost every Nordic house today. Also, Scandi reminds me of a lighter version of Japanese, so unsurprisingly design houses like Iittala and Marimekko from Finland are also a huge hit in Japan and South Korea and have had collaborations that were very well-received in the Nordic countries. In all 3 of those styles there is a love for natural materials, quality craftsmanship and being mindful (if not minimalist) about what you own and how you treat your possessions.
@DSigners4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! As you said, the Nordic and mid-century styles share many of their philosophies and it's because they developed in similar time periods but in different locations. Both styles adopted pieces designed at the moment that today are icons that represent both styles. Personally, these styles are my favorites because they prefer quality over quantity and each object is a piece of art and crucial element into the space. Thank for sharing! ❤️❤️
@vilieto4 жыл бұрын
@@DSigners Absolutely! It is minimal, without being minimalistic :) I moved to Finland almost 10 years ago and timeless design is universally appreciated in every single home. The story of how furniture and dining pieces were created is quite similar - people were poor, houses were small so they needed a few items that could stack and be functional, but also durable and made from what's available (hence why most Scandi designs have birch wood). Humble beginnings tend to bring fantastic design.

Thank you so much Zahira for this video on mixing design styles. I always knew what I liked (Traditional/Classic + Contemporary) but didn't know how to combine them together to get that Parisian vibe. Showing the separate styles first then together has really opened my eyes.The 80/20 rule really helps. Still struggling with placement of accent colors but with your help may be able to accomplish the right feel for my space.
