2+ years on the carnivore diet. 500 lb weight loss (not a typo). I eat intuitively, 1 or 2 meals a day, usually a 6-8 hour window. Doctor ordered an echo cardiogram and I passed. Heart is strong ! I was dying at 750+ lbs, but now I am thriving! Intermittent fasting is ideal for me.

Dr Westman since following your advice on low carb and intermittent fasting for the last 12months I have gone from 90 to 70kg in weight and have reversed my T2 diabetes. I followed my diabetic diet from my Dr for 10 yrs, on meds and didn’t lose weight or waistline. Since following you I have reduced my waistline and had to donate so many clothes to charity. Thank you for your advice and your sound counsel, I am forever indebted to you. Terry Shutt retired cop uk

Doc, congratulations on watching Dr. Boz's videos. You can learn a lot from her about real keto diets. She measures her ketones and she knows that when she is not in ketosis, then she is NOT on a keto diet. Maybe you can debunk the fake "keto" diets where influencers call their diets keto but then tell people that nutritional ketosis is not a goal of their keto diet :-)

Interesting thing in using the 12 to 16 hour window. You get to include diabetics on the American diabetic diet because they always have you eat a snack before you go to bed. So immediately you’re including a group that has a precursor to heart problems as your average person.

I respect your choice to review this video however, I respectfully disagree with your statement that she might be doing it to prove that she can do it. Dr. Boz has done a great deal of work to create Keto support groups across the country. If she is responding to this dubious study, it is because her people are asking her about the study.

Imagine getting that survey question and bothering to even answer it carefully. Im sure there would be a lot of "whatever who cares" attitudes. Amazed it got published by the news at all.

As always thank you Dr Westman for taking your valuable time to highlight how these studies work. This is very important to me. The news floods us with this daily and it’s difficult for the average person to know what is fact from fiction.

Bonferroni correction for the statistical geeks; you can theoretically get around this IF you specify what changes you expect (hypotheses) ahead of time, but I believe a lot of researchers cheat on this & act like "Oh yeah, that's what we were looking for"

Everyone needs to do what's best for them. I stopped carnivore because my remnant cholesterol was too high. Switched to super low fat protein, moderate high fiber vegetables and no added fat of any kind. My cholesterol went from 275 to 221 in 2 weeks. Remnant cholesterol from 19 to 9, which is still high, it needs to be under 4.

The damaging effects of putting out misleading info like this is that companies, like insurance companies, can abuse it to not pay out insurance policies, for example. The medical community really needs to do better because they're just further discrediting their entire industry when this kind of bad info gets released.

People who get casts are way more likely to have broken bones. Therefore, casts should not be given. That way, nobody will have broken bones. That said, poster presentations are fine when understood in the context of what they are -- they are intended to be quick introductions to even very preliminary research, including things like why they are seeking grants to do research. They can also summarize complete research. Sometimes undergrads or new grad students will present posters on well known topics just as practice in how to present concepts (later on, presenting a poster on your thesis is a common requirement for a masters or doctorate). I've even seen one brand new professor at Vanderbilt have a nearly empty poster presented with his name and interests because he was just starting a new research group and was about to start recruiting research students, but did not have a finalized set of research he would be working on.

So whatever I read of this pseudo science quotes originating from the famous idiots at the AHA, I did a word search for any implication to the keto diet or being carnivore. I couldn't find any references here. So they must be referring to the simpletons still eating the SAD diet that is also recommended by the AHA. Fasting on Carnivore is natural...because you aren't always ravenous. It is just a little willpower to stop 3 hours before you go to bed. And I am just not hungry before the early afternoon.
