Was excited to try this when I first heard about Gusse’s work and then saw my slim is a 77xxxx model :/ lol. Oh well, guess I’ll stick with the MX4SIO. Not feeling very motivated to find a compatible slim for this mod but it’s pretty cool seeing these old consoles getting a new lease on life. I am, however, super excited to try the pico-fly mod on one of the ebay switch lites I repaired though.

Wonder if the 128GB (for practical uses) limit on micro sd cards is still in effect? Just imagine when 2TB micro sd cards become available someday at the price of $10. Not now, all are scams but maybe in another few years or so. Currently building a small cache of micro sd cards for a romset. See everyone in about 2 or so years lol. Keep up the excellent work ModzvilleUSA and Gusse! Have a good evening!

Did you have to redo the DMS4 wiring? The wires were green for the start of the install. Later when you did the IDE wiring, the DMS4 wiring changed to blue.
@ModzvilleUSA Жыл бұрын
There was a whole lot of troubleshooting that went into this one yes. I for ended up redoing it and ultimately removing it as the dms4 was acting up
@bytesaber Жыл бұрын
@@ModzvilleUSA Ah! I may have experienced the same. If it helps, I remember way back in 2005, reinstalling the DMS4 Pro "original" multiple times and never got a perfect boot rate. First cold boot always seemed to just black screen. When the PS2 would eventually boot, the modchip worked fine. Anyhow, sometime later the DMS4 Pro "SE" (Special Edition) chips came out quickly replacing the originals, and those would boot correctly. I still have some of the originals. If you ever learned how to make them boot consistently, I'd love to know :)

Can you play old school games if you mod your PlayStation 2 like Super Nintendo or genesis
@lancepage1914 Жыл бұрын
This is a mod to play PlayStation 2 games specifically region free without the disc - there is literally no other reason why you would go through this much trouble to mod your PS2. To play SNES or Genesis games would require the PlayStation 2 to emulate. And there are much better solutions and systems out there that are cheaper and easier to emulate 8 or 16 bit consoles with than a PS2 . The best advice and easiest way would be to use a a cheap PC or any PC to emulate SNES and Genesis games.

Where can I purchase one modded ready 2tb?
@dannyboone81 Жыл бұрын
So most hard drives I have ever tested are around 100 read and write, IDE is 133. I've seen people say it doesn't matter using an SSD because the bottleneck is the IDE. So I'm asking if you think that the better speed no matter how little of a boost, does it help compatibility? It should have more consistent speeds. I saw that new M.2 loader for the GC and apparently it helps with frame rates. Does an SSD help that on the PS2? I don't plan on going this route, but I'm considering a 3.5 SSD for my phat model if it helps compatibility by having a consistent 133. Any thoughts?
@ModzvilleUSA Жыл бұрын
This isn’t about speeds. This is about fitting it in a slim. For a fat you can go over 2tb now with the new OPL fork using exfat. I’d recommend looking into that
@dcfuksurmom Жыл бұрын
While there will be a speed bottleneck because of the limitations of IDE, there will be less latency and better access times than a mechanical drive because of not having any moving parts.

I think you need a smaller soldering tip.
@ModzvilleUSA Жыл бұрын
Always use the largest tip you’re comfortable using for the job. Larger tip, better transfer of heat
@gungan5822 Жыл бұрын
@@ModzvilleUSA Sure, but to actually have that benefit your whole tip needs to actually make contact with the target. A 3.2 mm wide tip isn't any better soldering a 1 wide mm pad, just more likely to make solder bridges or knock something else off. I'd go with something like a Hakko T18-C1, maybe C05, can't really tell from the scale of the video. Obviously your results work, I'm just physically cringing watching sometimes 😅
@Ichihiro36 Жыл бұрын
I noticed some board burn due to radiant head comming off of unused potrions of the tip. It was bothering me, and alls I could think was that he should be using a smaller tip cuz he can't transfer any more heat in to the pad but not the surrounding areas with a bigger tip than the contact area... thus the smaller tip will solder just as fast but cleaner and without charing, singing and cooking not to meantion less risk of accidently desoldering near by connections or bridging. Look, I don't have a console modding background, but I've done thousands of smd solder mods on other electrinics with a soldering iron. The skills don't change because of what the electronics item is/does.... gungan is right, you would benifit from a smaller tip. Otherwise, your work is already really really good. Especially your cable management.
