Perhaps because he knows that Banquo has reason to mistrust him, and certainly because he fears that Banquo’s heirs are a challenge to his lineage, Macbeth arranges to have Banquo and his son murdered. Both Macbeth and his wife have changed: Macbeth, formerly hesitant, is now completely firm and decisive, and Lady Macbeth, formerly impatient and bloodthirsty, now thinks it would be fine to leave matters well enough alone. For example, she explicitly tells him that he “must leave this” (3.2.35), while he explains that “things bad begun make strong themselves by ill” (3.2.55). The murder of Banquo furthers heightens the conflict. Macbeth is clearly a tyrannical figure, and the plot will revolve around him being removed from power and punished for his crimes. Macduff’s declaration of personal enmity against Macbeth sets the stage for the final conflict between the two, and for Macbeth’s defeat. A positive outcome becomes impossible for Macbeth as he gradually loses his authority, power, and eventually his wife. Ultimately, Macbeth’s overreliance on his belief he is fated to be king leads to his downfall, since he arrogantly misinterprets the witches’ prophecies, believing that they promise him glory while in fact, the prophecies predict how he will be defeated. While the audience has long understood that the witches are untrustworthy and up to no good, Macbeth only realizes this fact when facing his own death. I came here to rewatch this after watching the Sargon resposne video (great vid btw) and I realized that Erik literally said the thing as satire that Sargon said seriously. 1:59 - "Let's not forget this is how Middle Earth was in the books, so why can't we just keep it a completely white cast because of a hundred year old book?" Sargon was saying he couldn't watch the show because he didn't think they were faithful to the source material by their inclusion of people of color. The creators of the new LotR specifically said they want to represent the world as it actually is by adapting a fictional piece of literature with a more inclusive cast, including a black beardless dwarf princess, and that's "injecting politics" into art (which has been done.. forever? Throughout all history?). This is my understanding of Sargon's argument: Because the cast is not all white, it is not a faithful adaptation of Tolkien's writing (since he used European mythology as his basis for the art which is, historically, majority white) and the new LotR is instead a "racist" creation by "woke" SJWs to satisfy the political agenda of the American left, which is obsessed by race in a way the rest of the world isn't. So Erik satirized Sargon's argument in the video Sargon was replying to, which was a serious reply to a satire.
