English isnt her first language and she has had horrible experiences with the police (we are mexican). She felt so stupid and i know it got to her. They targeted her in a target parking lot, of all places. She had just lost her youngest son very suddenly and out of nowhere, her first child to die. She and other older latinos also targeted a lot by MLMs because they know they are usually uneducated, dont speak great english, are usually religious, and dont trust authorities. I was the only one in my circles who thought it was a shallow, get-rich-quick scheme by and for fintech bros. It felt soulless, the opposite of what *art* should be. @akinyiomer4589Ай бұрын
@@anonbrowsing8848 Lmao sweetheart - that's such a strawman argument. Yes state-backed fiat currency is also subject to inflation, but that inflation rate (in a stable economy) is a SMALL and it takes place over MANY YEARS. That's why they're considered stable enough to do business with ... So if your employer pays you in USD say $2k/month, by the time the cheque is signed by Finance on Monday and clears your accounts, you've got $2k in the bank by Wednesday. Whereas the _intense_ value fluctuations of crytocurrency make it a high-risk, high-reward security/trading asset; but goddamn _unstable_ as a viable currency for any economy. That shit changes by entire percentage points hour-by-hour, day-by-day. Platforms minting cryptocurrency tell their investors *explicitly* that they want to "go to the moon!!!" i.e. they want the value to go up almost exponentially into infinity. That's basically putting the levels of inflation that the USD sees in 100 years into like 1 years' timeframe. Which is why no country has successfully used it as currency. Even that lil' failed experiment in Peru (no disrespect to Peruvians, I don't think a country's citizens should have to pay the price for any public or private financial mismanagement).

I used to be a crypto fanatic. So much, in fact' that I decided to actually learn how it works and ventured into blockchain development. Learning about how the underlying technology works, vs how the crypto market works opened my eyes, and I realised that the crypto space is more scammy than the tradfi economy. I went from holding and around 10 to now only holding 1 token. The reason for downsizing? The MAJORITY of tokens are well intentioned cash grabs. Basically people who on some level have good intentions, but for the most part are useless hype/speculation projects or outright scams. That doesn't apply to the underlying blockchain technology which is improving rapidly and is already being tested by and integrated into different government systems and companies around the world. The blockchain itself presents massive potential. However, you have to do in-depth research on a token/ project before you invest. More than you would do with a traditional company.

Nice to see some bits I mentioned in the last video come up in this! I hope it inspired some research for bits on this! Another fun tidbit is that even if you forget all of the organised crime groups and such and the human rights abuses that they are perpetrating... But North Korea hold and launder such massive volumes of BTC that by nature of using BTC, you are complicit in the human rights abuses in that country and their development of nuclear weapons... The underlying tech is also being promoted as a tool for social justice, but given how the large cap holders are people with vast quantities of money to spend on crypto, you tend to enforce inequality and take value out of unequal communities and countries, which is pretty nasty when it's the black-owned MLM's ripping off their own people, but it's a whole other story when it's Western countries ripping off poorer countries by sucking value out of them, much like how colonialism worked...

Love what you're doing I think you have a really unique and valuable perspective compared to a lot of other people on KZbin playing in this same video essay space space. But I do have a bit of criticism. I think this video lacked a central driving thesis. It didn't seem to be trying to define these ideas or problems because it leaned so heavily on the assumption that I already know what FTX is (as one example). It doesn't seem to be trying to focus it in on how these scams are aiming at a particular population. Or the types of underlying themes are used to drive these scams. It just seemed to be a grab bag of 2 or 3 intersting but half-formed ideas and lacked focus. To be honest this one felt a bit rushed. I think you have something valuable to say on this topic. But it didn't feel like you got around to actually saying it.

Another dope video brother Cam. The real reason for NFT's was the amount of money in circulation during COVID. Between Stimy, PPP, EIDL, and rent forgiveness, M1 & M2 were the highest which gave people power to artificially boost the value of anything (insert GameStop, AMC, NFT's, rent, Bitcoin, etc) some of these have actual value vs speculation, some value well below what they were trading at.

I was part of a project that used our NFTs as passes too a free weekend in Vegas. It was sick🔥 I haven’t lost money overall in NFTs, but for sure have in certain projects that haven’t stood the test of time. Others have though and they have been a lot of fun overall for me👍🏼

Man - I love your videos because of the background you provide. Even if some of your jokes seem like they’re targeted at boomers who don’t already get the plot. I still love your style because you have a way with sweeping up and sifting through all the context in a way that educates all these “wet behind the ears” gen z ppl but at the same time spells it out for everyone else who doesn’t get subtext. It is an art form that only a Millennial could master. I know: That’s our secret strength.

The biggest problem with crypto is that the purported utilities have yet to be fully realized in a pragmatic matter. They haven't (and probably never will) left the speculative stage.

“You’re assuming we need to monetize every single interaction with our fans.” That statement goes so hard because it’s so true now. Celebrates, influencers, and every thing in between are constantly trying to squeeze every cent from fans. Even if they have to scam to get that money. I’m not saying they shouldn’t make any money. All these people are artists in one way or another.But why does everything have to be completely transactional when it comes to fans?idk maybe I’m just overthinking it.
@CamJames6 ай бұрын
You're not, and it's true. It's their management and agents. I turned down an offer to sign with an agent for that very reason. You can't get off the money train once you set it in motion and get teams of people involved. They gotta eat, and they're never full.
