Unsolicited psychoanalysis from an ex psych major: I think that people who work so hard to protect their ego, is bc there’s nothing else beneath it.. they’re lost confused haven’t found themselves, maybe they’re in a shaky period in life. So they become chameleons and morph into what others think them to be. Like his very first videos, he seemed like a nerdy soft hearted person. Upon being called a douchebag from that one creator, he adapted it into his personality, like yeah I’m a douchebag, and what? This behavior isn’t a personality type, but rather what people can go through during periods of insecurity, caused by whatever reason. People can grow out of it as long as they realize what they’re going through (which is very tough when they spend all their time defending themselves and wearing a mask of narcissism. Ppl grow out of it upon losing friends, making big mistakes, wake up calls. Unfortunately def noodles situation was sooo public… so awful.. I’m sure he’s learning but this is very tough to come back from . Not just on social media but irl as well. The lesson: be conscientious of your mental health and state and frame of thinking, and do not become a social media personality until you are sure you’re mentally stable.

In the sense that he hasn't done something bad enough for people to shift their opinion on him. And the mistakes he does make--though minor--he generally outs himself and corrects. I still don’t consider myself confident in any way and still have self esteem issues, but now whenever I’m shown to be wrong or criticized I don’t lash out. I still don’t deal with it in a healthy way. I deal with it by preempting criticism by calling out all the things I did wrong ahead of time with self deprecation. That short clip of the roast was PAINFUL. People who sat through all of it deserve psychiatric counseling. My favorite thing about Def Noodles' fall is that people would have been FAR less likely to roast him and go after him if he hadn't picked a fight with Internet Jesus. Going after Charlie instead of taking his jokes and critiques at face value is how you begin a long line of self-destruction and it's because Charlie is very down to earth and, unless you're being a creep or committing a crime, will make jokes and offer some advice. If you can't handle the most softball criticism, you have made yourself a hard target.
@IanHarrison-n9m2 ай бұрын
Also half the time charlie just uses absurd vocab to say the same shit we'd say. If someone yapped but made no points I'd say some shit like "you made 0 points" while charlie will sarcastically thank you for serving him such a fine nothing burger. I genuinely think a lot of these types of people aren't just incapable of receiving criticism but also feel attacked and/or threatened by someone clearly wittier than they are

I used to watch Def Noodles during his commentary, cat-eared headphones days. At the time, he was and decent in personality. But then he took a turn for the worst in regards to a certain TikTok star and her family, and made horrendous allegations and still had the gull to ask said TikTok star's father for information for his next video. Suffice to say I stopped watching him after that, because that wasn't cool. Def Noodles also got into a social media tit for tat with Omegon and Optimus, blocking them both when called out. Then there was the tellall from a former assistant of his who had to basically plan a Burning Man event that Def Noodles was wholly unprepared for. We also can't forget how he was banned off X-Twitter, and Keemstar helped him get his profile back. But gratitude doesn't mesh well with Def Noodles and quickly went about attacking Keemstar again. And the icing on the cake is how he pretended to be a struggling minority when, in reality, Dennis actually comes from a well to do family and his father or uncle got him a cushy job. So yeah. Def Noodles is well and truly tone deaf. I doubt he's genuine in wanting to change.

People make the mistake of going after Charlie can't read at all inti his commentary. A lot of the times even if he's talking about a cringe topic there is still a lot of comedy in it and he doesn't take it seriously as he plays it. And even more, he doesn't wish ill will against the people he roasts UNLESS THEY ACTUALLY DO REALLY PISS HIM OFF but that's such a rare occasion. They only ruin their own careers by trying to 'put him in his place' for petty reasons and in turn show how thin-skinned they are as if they have something to prove, when they don't.
