Apparently, some people are misinterpreting the phrase "interstellar tunnels" to mean superluminal (FTL: faster than light) transportation (even "Wormhole Xtreme" 'Stargates"), when all that is meant is electromagnetic fields guide the flow of electrically-changed materials (e.g. plasma) through sparse interstellar media. STL: slower than lightspeed
@Debbie-henri2 күн бұрын
I certainly got the impression that these interstellar highways would only be useful for high energy particles, shipping them great distances through voids to help create new star systems elsewhere - and are both 'not safe' and 'not useful' for human endeavours. The only useful application they may have for a living species might be for sending information across large distances, if a civilization was advanced enough to employ it for such purposes (Kardeshev 3...4, maybe?) Information sent from one side of a galaxy to another, or from one galaxy to another, might stand a better chance of being less broken up if sent through this route, seeing as it is less dense. Perhaps, to satisfy the alien-obsessed, SETI should make a brief study of such highways sometime, and see if there are indeed signals being sent along such routes.
@shelleybigham1332 күн бұрын
@@Debbie-henri this kind of reminds me of a movie in around 1989, Maybe 1990! It was about the future, trying to contact the past! they were using dreams because they couldn’t send themselves back but they could send their dreams they created into dreams of people from around that time! Really good movie😀

Also there's no way we could travel on those tunnels because of the high amount of radiation and plasma

@snipman8067Күн бұрын
@@ForestTre couldn't you use a sort of "plasma surfing" method to ride the plasma along the tunnel? This could, depending on the strength of the magnetic field and the density of the plasma, get a craft to travel up to 30% of the speed of light. The problem of course is surviving the intense heat and extreme radiation

The tunnels themselves may not cause faster than light travel, but they may be used as conduits to facilitate it. Being low density there are less particles to encounter within them.
@americanpatriot41702 күн бұрын
I find all of this most interesting. Taking an objective reasoning from it, knowing that there are huge forces with eddies within it, and that the power/forces are powerful enough to maintain a flat, disc like structure to entire galaxies, why are we not pursuing a way to use those massive forces? When considering the randomness and limitless boundaries of space between the galaxies, identifying the force and energy that gives structure to the galaxy would seem to be an infinite source of power that once harnessed, would solve a lot of problems.

such pathways exist at many levels, the key to exploration is to know for sure where the exit will come out in empty space, and not in the middle of a planet somewhere, sure there are wormholes everywhere, the question is where do they end up at...😎😎😎

i think the trick of harnessing these tunnels for intergalactic travel is developing a way to enter and exit them at will... if we can do that we won't have to worry about our ships striking intergalactic objects. and if we can do that, we should be able to switch tunnels at will, allowing for traveling extreme distances. just like in Star Wars!

Could these tunnels be very loosely similar to "wormholes"?
@snipman8067Күн бұрын
No, they can't make anything go faster than light, and it doesn't bend space or time like a wormhole. Think of it like a highway for plasma. Although you can't go the speed of light, you could theoretically ride the plasma like a surf board to get to the other side at roughly 30% the speed of light. The speed depends heavily on the density of the plasma and the strength of the magnetic field around the tunnel. It also depends on space weather like supernovae, solar winds, etc
