I haven't seen such a good, clear explanation of wiring up the a light controller, ever, I think. Very cool.

Excellent work! Thank you for showing the diagram on where all the wires go. I can solder (barely!) but that's it when it comes to electronics so having a simple diagram that shows where everything goes, what battery to use and where the switch goes is incredibly helpful so thank you!

@@InterstellarModeler The more basic, the better! Many of us don't know how to wire up circuits so showing where everything goes and the components needed and where the wires go is greatly appreciated!

Happy to hear that. Sometimes i wonder if i go a but too far with the basics but I know how it feels with gettn started. Luckily with all of the prewired options out there it keeps soldering to a minimum. Appreciate the compliment

Nice tutorial on the lights Oggie!! One trick we use as model Railroaders since most of us work in the tight spaces of an HO engine is when you have more than one wire that connects to the positive or negative side is to solder the main + or - to a brass strip then solder all other wires to the brass strip to connect all!! I use K&S brass sheet I get from Hobbytown or Hobby Lobby. When installing decoders, LEDS and speakers to my Locomotives it makes the connections easier to get to to repair or add LEDS!!

Hi Oggie, fantastic build. Love the fact that you chose to make it your own by going with the Pegasus design. Thank you for the wiring techniques. My brother Tony and I have learned a lot from your videos and have applied them to our modest builds. Kudos on the paintings. Always enjoy seeing anything from original Trek. The Enterprise heading toward the barrier is iconic in TOS lore. Good luck with the art display at Comic Con. Best Wishes, Alfonso.

I am still working on my 1:350 Refit and will be doing the Grissom next as of this date HLI is out of Grissom boards and also have a 1:537 Reliant pre-ordered from HLI as well...can't wait to get that one. will you be doing a video of the 1:537 Reliant anytime soon? btw your ship came out awesome...great job.

Another enjoyable instalment Oggie, thanks for posting. I have been using the wide foil tape for some years as light block in models; there is a brand here in the UK called 151 that is 2" wide and a large roll will cover many kits. Its simple to cover the inner hull and then poke through the windows from the outside and add the clear parts. I find it saves lots of airbrushing and is very effective.

Great video Oggie! Can't wait to see it finished. Just one point of clarification on the lighting board. Pin C will do either the impulse ramp or flicker. Which one will depend on whether you connect pin D to ground (flicker) or leave it alone (ramp).
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Spencer. I did a quick mention of that with my diagrams but didnt have a switch available to demo it. No worries for me though, I really like the ramping up effect you guys came up with.

Looks really good so far (must watch part 1 for the building and painting!). The lighting looks like it will be really effective. Picked up my Grissom over the weekend, they seem to have a taken a little while longer to make it over here to the UK. Looking forward to starting it, but have a few aircraft projects to finish up first. By the way, quite a while ago we talked about the bad decals in the AMT Romulan Bird of Prey. You recommended the JTGraphics decals set as replacements. Happy to report hey went down really well and my BoP is taking pride of place on the book shelves. So big thanks for that!

Do you have a preference for boards? I’m wondering if HLI are a better way to go for smaller kits?
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 2 жыл бұрын
Yes….HLI boards a great for smaller kits. At this time they have 8 kinds but potentially can be used for a variety of applications beyond the model they’re designated for. For example this board can be used for an Excelsior as well as for basic effects for a battle damaged Constitution refit. Unfortunately there’s an out of stock issue. This is partly due to the shortages that are plaguing the electronics industry. You can check in with them for updates. Thanks Phil.
