I've got a gondola with the same load, but mine was a plaster casting that I painted. I did every bit as good a job as the "Chooch" load. The fun part was painting the '32 Ford. Cheers from eastern TN

Score! I think the camelback could likely be Tenshodo or Akane, especially if it dates to the 50s.

The Lindburgh tooling is what Mantua was using in the 80s for freight cars. The Tru-scale blacksmith car ended up at Bachmann. GE Capital finances locomotives to this day.

I got a Bachmann NYC Niagara at a train show as well. It's a Bachmann Plus locomotive, and it's bascially the exact same thing as the UP 4-8-4 that Bachmann sells (with the exception of the color and road name, smoke deflectors and centipede tender). It runs, but its rather slow for some reason.

Very interesting collection of items for quite the reasonable price I'm from Australia so I'm not the most knowledgeable on US model railway items but I have considered buying some unbuilt Athern Pullman coaches to make them look like those from the Polar Express as I've been building an old Hobbyline Berkshire kit I found for a bargain with the intention of making it into PM 1225. Only downside is a single coach is nearly 100 bucks shipping included, so my plans for such will be on hold for a while it seems.. Regardless this was a very cool video to be recommended

Weirdly, the Lionel HO polar Express trainset is "screen accurate" including the unorthodox round end observation car. I bet you could score one of those sets affordably and that'd save you lots of effort!
@JohnNack5 ай бұрын
Awesome! I did the same thing, but when I purchased, the bags were $25 lol. Still a screaming deal! I got a couple of those first aid kits, and you were correct on that hunch, one was full of all kinds of little brass parts

@@InterurbanEraI got this really interesting Amtrak P42 on a plaque thanking someone named ‘David P Graybeal’ and GE for over $300 million toward new engines. I got an entire B&O passenger train + locomotive, and someone’s interesting half completed projects. There was a Rivarossi Krauss Maffei shell painted (poorly) into warbonnet colors which was too weird not to grab. Found lots of other cool miscellaneous stuff as well

So far I've passed along everything I didn't immediately need to newer modelers who wanted the stuff. The only thing that didn't survive was the UP gondola. It shattered when I tried to remove the load. I stripped that of all usable parts including the underframe, trucks, couplers though, so it wasn't a total loss!

That Model Power Observation coach got my attention,lol. Recently , I found two of the Harriman coaches at a local vintage shop for 2 bucks. Previous owner had swapped out the wheels for all metal insulated ones. I am thinking of getting two Coach/Combines and converting one of them into a Gas-Electric doodle bug. Shouldn't be difficult to do.
@InterurbanEra2 ай бұрын
I can say from personal experience the doodlebug kitbash from one of the harriman cars is VERY VERY fun to kitbash and I highly recommend doing it. You can even have a ready-to-go front end if you lop the vestibule end off and use the insert w/ doors and windows. I've built two over the years, neither survives though. Send along photos when you complete yours!

@@InterurbanEra Will do!. I did manage to discover, that Bethlehem Car Works (now owned by White Rose Hobbies) ,had available a "Coach End w/windows" part available. i bought a few pairs a while back and will use those. Note: People asked me what could be used as a pilot for the front end. Bachmann has the pilot/cowcatcher??? part meant for their own Doodle bugs available on their parts /services page.
