My family was raised Pentecostal. My oldest brother, when he married his wife, became a JW. This is one of the best JW de-conversion that I have ever heard. I wish my brother could here this!
@professorx17394 жыл бұрын
Robin same situation, I met my wife 8 years ago she's a witness, I did the studying and after the studying they insist I write a letter in order to become a witness too my former church to tell them that I want to be no longer a part of their church. I said no to the elder that I don't want to write this nonsense letter, they said that I don't have a choice if i wanna be apart of Jehovah's witnesses I have too write that letter and send it too my old church. So I wanted too make my wife happy, so I wrote the letter despite that I was being forced too and it didn't make sense. Two weeks ago, October of 2020 my eyes finally opened after 8 years. Jesus Christ is my savior and always will be not man. I'm not serving man anymore I'm serving my loyalty to our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. So in all I hope that your brother have come to his spiritual senses and see how those groups of men can instantly replace Christ and want devoted service too themselves. He loves his wife just like I love mine and he will do anything to see her happy just like I would do with mine. But I had too come to realization and realize I can't lie to myself and do something that I see that is totally wrong and against God and scriptures, they make everything sounds good but they do have a secret agenda just like any major organization.

I was reproved first then subsequently disfellowshipped for continuing to court, then marry my current wife. At first, it hurt, but here's the funny part...I prayed, and prayed hard for God to lead me to the truth. @@lulubellers you know, I've been doing alot of deep thinking...b4 the internet us JWs who were in at 5he time, knew very little about the GB not even knowing what they looked like. So it was easy for us to put them on a pedestal (yes, I do have some to blame for this), yes we had them on a pedestal, in awe of them so it was easy for them to get our cooperation (worship). The GB quite liked this adoration. And we took all their "new light" in stride. Fast forward to the internet age and the WT with their videos with the GB, and, lo and behold! They were like you and I! Very infallible, no halos around their heads and even a covert video showing GB member Tony Morris buying vast quantities of alcohol! And his talks on video! Wow! He appears tipsy in some of them. Down comes our heroes off their pedestals,and, to be fair it wasn't our faults that we were in awe of them. The GB put themselves on that pedestal by saying they were of the 144,000, who were to rule over us in Heaven. What else were we going to think? They are no more exalted than you or I, keeping us captive.

Hey fifth! Ok so all I have to say my man is thank you again! I always enjoy your interviews because you go straight for quality interviews my man. I mean bethelites, pioneers, elders, this is where its at. I am still trying to peel myself to becoming fully awake and this is 100% what I need and so many others. Not to discredit any other jw channels and interviews but for highly indoctrinated born in jws trying to wake up. You know what we value, people way up and especially who have any bethel, missionary or Governing body contact who can now see and tell that this is all a huge hoax....this is your best fit, and I must say even if it takes you a longer time to acquire these people, even if it takes time to convince them to interview simply via audio, don;t sacrifice this type of genre of interviews that you offer...Let's face it, that's why crisis of conscience has opened so many peoples eyes, because he was an actual ranking gb member and people saw that he was the antithesis of the organization. It really helps you wake up. Again this interview helped me alot, just another great notch in my journey. please know this is where you bring quality, a difference, a special connector to this community--quality higher level interviews of people who by no means are wacky, but fully in and had to leave due to their cognitive thinking skills. People who did struggle with it, but knowing TTAT they couldn't fight any longer. Keep at this my friend, seek them out. Who knows one day, and I do hope for this. You may land a motherload of an interview with a helper to the GB that we young people are familiar with. Many out there who are faded and have basically been high up could be watching, waiting for someone of high caliber as yourself. You are a great addition my friend. Thank you, and hopefully one day someone even on the writing commitee will interview with you. Now that would be a blockbuster. Seek em out my friend--quality. thanks!

Reality is reality. When life serves you lemons (The Watchtower), you make lemonade. It is really sad when I read your words. The reason is because you are saying exactly what I would of said up to the age of 44 (I am 47). Your statement contains the key that you need to awaken from this stupor. It is the key that terrified me a little less than 3 years ago. Like myself you used the word Jehovah and equated it with the Watchtower organization. Once you understand clearly that the name Jehovah is used interchangeably with "organization", the house of cards comes crashing down. I loved being a witness. But when you discover the dark truth, and I mean dark, your psyche will wreak havoc on you. Everything you "knew", everything you thought was true, will come crashing down. You will be confused, lost, and empty. But with time, you will heal. I am proof of that. You have no idea what my story is like. I am very grateful I found out what I did. It was terrifying in the true sense of the word when I left. But I still have years to build a better life. I don't know how old you are, but please take time to examine it. Don't find out the real truth in the final days of life, and say, 'What have I done?'

Wow! This was such an awesome interview. I enjoyed Edward's honest account of his life experiences and the real struggles we go through to become our authentic selves. I am really happy for you. Just to help clarify, some here asked about the Bethel brother Edward mentioned "Howard Rutledge". I believe that Edward is talking about exJW activist "Howie Tran" or "Howie Rutledge Tran" who worked with the governing body as a personal assistant and woke up when he was a Bethel elder. I've spoken with him on Facebook many times (Howie Rutledge Tran) and he's another awesome exJW, very personable and kind. His interview on JWpodcast is 1/28/2017 "Personal Assistant to the Governing Body" and he also was on the NPR Reveal news radio program last year called "Secrets of the Watchtower" done by reporter Trey Bundy. I hope this helps, for those interested.

I too dealt with suicidal thoughts and deep depression after having been raised in it. In the end, I had to choose between dying or losing my family and every friend I ever had. Ultimately, I left to a foreign country with the little money I had and started my life over again. It was the hardest thing I ever did, especially living with the knowledge that if I ever returned, I would have no home to go to. At the age of 22, I restarted my life from scratch with no safety net behind me. Would I do the same again? Every time! The freedom from oppression turned my entire life around, and I would live on the street before I ever went back to that dark place. In fact, for a few months I actually lived in a tent in a park! It was all worth it, and I owe my life to escaping that cult.

I especially enjoyed this interview. "Edward" and Cliff know why. We were JWs who lived that life. I knew some of those dots weren't adding up, and when a JW truly humbles themselves, and releases the arrogance they are taught to display, then deal with real world facts and more than one source for their evidence, they will be happier people too. They will in time become the authentic person they were meant to be. Not the person who has to use the Watchtower as their conscience ( seeing only through WT googles) for every situation. With WT googles on, no one can see the real truth, only the WT's brand of truth...it's their trademark.

Question ❓ When we write a letter to be removed as a JW, why is the announcement that we are Disfellowshipped? I don't get that. Why can't we just leave freely? I am PIMO😢
@exjwfifth9838 Жыл бұрын
The announcement is technically “so-and-so is no longer one of JWs”, they used to make one announcement for DF and another announcement for DA but they changed it and combined it into one announcement for both (I believe because of legal trouble that the org got into). So the congregation is free to speculate on whether someone was DFd or DAd but usually everyone assumes the person was disfellowshipped because disassociating is less common

Jehovahs has ALWAYS personally endorsed his chosen people, ESPECIALLY the leaders. He had Moses provide undeniable proof he was the chosen leader at Exodus 4:6-9. Despite Jesus going around healing the sick, raising the dead, calming storms, and performing so many miracles that a record of them could fill a library, Jehovah still personally spoke 3 times from heaven to identify him. CT Russell went a room, came out and said "I think the bible says this.Believe it or die." 100+ years later we barely believe a single teaching of Russel and still no endorsement from Jehovah. Yet, I still have to listen to some men who have no proof they're "anointed" and have stated themselves that they are under no direct inspiration from the Holy Spirit, nor have any special enlightenment, in God's "SPIRIT DIRECTED" organization.

I also woke up but another horrible thing about the JW religion is that so many that wake up become atheist or agnostic and I believe that's due to abhorrence to the thought of being controlled by men ever again. There is no "one true religion. " There is however God, and Jesus, and the Bible. Noone ever has to step foot in a church, and probably shouldn't, to believe that. It's not about religion or belonging to any religion or any group. It's about a personal relationship with God, not any man, which noone needs anyone to govern or control. The book of Romans really drove that home to me when I read it, on my own, with no other literature or anyone telling me what it's supposed to mean. The truth really does set you free. Believing isn't and never was meant to be a burden and I know that now. Being a JW is an absolute burden much more so than all the other "religions". I now have a personal relationship, just me and Him, and there's nothing more awesome or freeing to me and I no longer suffer depression or anxiety or shame etc.

Great interview with a thoughtful and intelligent man. I loved it! I can so relate to Edward's story and his reasoning and waking up. I, too, do not embrace their label Apostate. I don't try waking JWs and respect that others have the right to have their own beliefs--- but I do know WTS is not The Truth (trademarked). Exactly as Edward explains, "Preposterous that seven dudes in Brooklyn speak for God." As a faithful, active JW I was miserable. I also am happier than ever and able to be my true self. I am no longer religious, but I feel spiritually connected for the first time in my life. Everything is better outside the Doomsday cult.

In your bible (not the NWT). God's Word is truth. Start reading the book of John, then Romans. Pray first and ask God to lead you and show you what you need to do. Go to this website and follow instructions; www.lwf.org/assurance-of-salvation. For some excellent teaching here is another website with many topics, but do not neglect your bible reading: www.ariel.org/come-and-see.htm. God bless you.

Not my Bible, but thanks for the kind thought. I have read the bible from beginning to end many times. Not a book I want to live my life based on, nor the god I want to worship or worship. I am so happy now that I have left the Bible and religion in the past. Everything is better now.

Interesting how much of the person you interviewed and my own story are similar. Agnostic, inactive (not DF'd), kind of on the line, lost some real good people, some others still JW's are my close friends........its really interesting. I have more than most like he does, but still some of the close friends in my life leaving our friendship because of my inactivity....still hurts. Even waking up while serving abroad. What a trip.

Excellent interview Fifth-I really enjoyed it. Great to see "Edward" doing well and dispelling the myth this cult promotes that if you leave your life is doomed.This is how they use fear on the sheep.But once you see thru fear there's nothing to fear.It's just the opposite once you leave their matrix and stand in your truth Life is a beautiful place.You make your life what it is.Look forward to your next post-Well done

Have you ever wondered why the governing body don't wear mustaches with the exception of the Black brother? I was told that only Caucasian brothers are not allow to wear mustaches if they are members of the GB. Compare that to the requirements of the High Priests of Kemet.
@exjwfifth98387 жыл бұрын
Alicia Harden that's an interesting point. I've found that to be true generally speaking within the organization. For black and Hispanic brothers mustaches seem more acceptable within the organization. Also I noticed that if you are black, being bald is not frowned upon as much. But for Caucasian brothers and Hispanic brothers, in my experience it seems that it was...who comes up with this stuff? I have no idea
@aliciamoon81727 жыл бұрын
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond but in my studies I have found that Charles Taze Russell believed that only Caucasians were of the anointed and that we, as African Americans, would become "whiter" as we learned the "truth". Russell was extremely familiar with the practices of Egypt. In fact, disputed by many, Egyptian culture was actually monotheistic and many biblical teachings are eerily similar to those of that culture. Furthermore...if you look up the Dead Sea Scrolls, you will find that they were supposedly found in a cave amongst the scrolls and writings from Egyptian temples which were associated with Akhenaten. Anyway...that's a whole "nother" story, but Russell was a Mason and was quite familiar with the "real truth". This is why he had a pyramid as his tombstone. One more interesting thought to consider....Blacks were not allowed to be counted as one of the anointed until the '50's I think(please correct me if I am wrong), but in any case... wouldn't that explain (in part) why the number of "anointed" or partakers may have increased as well? LOL! (count me in brother!) Russell wouldn't allow the friends to preach to members of Black churches at first because he said "we wouldn't get it"....LOL. GOT IT NOW THO!

Alicia Moon that just goes to show you that it's a European thing to be completely shaved. No where in the bible does it say to shave your beard. I have a lot of information to share but I don't want to overwhelm people with information. God has opened my eyes and is showing me the truth. I was born and raised in this religion and I was indoctrinated so much that I was still defending the JWs a couple months ago. Black people are special people to God I don't know if you know that.

I had started fading (my heart was never truly into it) at 24. I was around alot of witnesses since I had to move in with my parents after I left a horrible marriage with a small child. My sister also lived there and was the only active witness at the time. So we had friends come in from out of town for the local assembly weekend. They talked me into going. We slept late and sat around and went in very late. I sat down, literally for 5 minutes, got up and bolted. Never ever went back. That was the day I really started to breath freely. It was SUCH an unnatural feeling.

"And all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness." - 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 Many people are content with their basic understanding of the teaching of God's word and feel no need to question that understanding. However, some, through thorough search of the Scriptures have realized the need to amend their views. It is well known that truth stands under scrutiny and our faith will only be strengthened by such an examination for,in, the words of Paul, " a person should ....keep testing whether you are in the faith" (2 Corinth.13:5)

I'm so glad to see that you are free from the mind control of Watchtower Society religion. I was involved for about 20 years. But, like any cult they managed to keep you and a lot of ex cult's from the the truth who is Christ Jesus and from having a relationship with him. That is not a religion but is spiritual. We all have a spirit and are made in God's image and may have the Holy Spirit come abide with us as Jesus abides with the Father and the Father with him. If we ask he will send us his holy spirit to abide in us too. All we need to do is ask if we truly believe that Jesus Christ is our savior. The Bible is truly the word of God and was with him in the beginning and was written down of men led by the Holy Spirit of God. Just don't get knit picky over the names of God right now because that will detour you away from that wonderful and holy relationship that is done in the spiritual realm. You'll never know a more personal and loving relationship until you give Jesus a chance. My prayer for all you here who have left the Watchtower cult is that you meet the best friend you will ever have and know, Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can tell you more about Jehovah, his father and ours if we let him adopt us, than anyone in the Bible. Let him show you. I say this sharing the love of our creator and the one who doesn't stay far from us but wants to walk with us forever. Don't go into the Holy Bible looking for mistakes or proofs to debate with. Just go into it and listen to what he has to say. Think of it as a love letter. Look for the parts where he wants to love you and how he's trying to transform you back to the whole person you were created to be when he put you in the garden before the fall. He is bringing it back to that. He doesn't want anyone to miss being whole and perfect again in his kingdom that will be for eternity. Remember the scripture where it says he is making all things new? That part is true. God is love and he can't lie. God bless you all.

I believe the exJW Bethel brother "Howard Rutledge" that Edward mentions is "Howie Rutledge Tran" sometimes called "Howie Tran". I know over the years Howie has done some articles and interviews talking about his experiences working directly with the governing body and he was at Bethel for a long time and was an elder there. He did an interview with reporter Trey Bundy, that was broadcast across the country on NPR radio and was really good. Also, he did an amazing JWpodcast interview with Louise and he talks in detail about what he saw behind the scenes while in the cult. Here is a link to the radio program: www.revealnews.org/episodes/secrets-of-the-watchtower/?Reveal& This is the JWPodcast: jwpodcastshow.podbean.com/e/s03e14-personal-assistant-to-the-governing-body/?token=d6d2aeae8502d132ef6dabc7514fd957

It sounds like this man just wants to go out and play in the world. He sounds so intrigued by the world and the things in it. He rejected a woman that Loves GOD(very rare), so that he could play in the world with people who love the world. I dont go to the Kingdom Hall, but I can see this guy is conjuring the wrong path. I stopped attending the kingdom hall , but, my relationship with "I Am" has grown stronger, and I listen to Jehovah much more now than I ever did. Read: 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Interesting the different views. I grew up as a JW, pioneered etc. Then Reality smacked me in the face all at once. Turned out one of the young brothers in the hall whose father was an elder, was sexually abusing him. When he told me I gasped and immediately said go to the elders. He said he did and they met with his dad, then they met with him and his dad. He said it was a tearful what he thought was a resolution. Shortly after, it continued. His mom refused to have a conversation about it as if she didn't want to acknowledge it. He said after about a year of the circle back and forth with the elders he told an elder he was going to go to the police. I really can't remember what he said they told him, but they diswayed him from doing so. That evening he came to my house in tears because he felt he had no outlet and I had no better advise for him because the elders told him don't go to the police, (oh his dad is still an elder). I am no longer a witness, but that is one of the things that haunts me the most, was that I should have gotten him in my car and drove him to the police station myself. After not seeing him at the meetings after that, I was worried so Inquired and found out he met some people and went off to Louisiana, I have prayed he didn't commit suicide or become a sexual predator himself. I won't go into the other experiences and what happened when I started asking questions. Anyway, sad, sad, sad. I still keep in touch with some of the witnesses and they try to get me to come back. I still have family that are JW and we do talk. However, I cannot unknow the truths that I have learned and the lies that I lived. I do pray more JW wake up and stop making excuses for the things they know in their souls to be fundamentally wrong. But, I do know and see the power of indoctrination, so I will continue to pray for them.
@alexfarias51567 жыл бұрын
vnessa06vf Oh wow that's really sad. I was a publisher but I never got baptized because something just didn't seem right about getting baptized. After I separated from my ex wife I started praying to God to show me the truth and oh has he showed me. Everyday he shows me new things. I have so much information to share but the truth sounds crazy. How did Noah sound to all the people when he said that water was going to fall from the sky and that had never happend before. Everyone taught that he was crazy. That's how I sound. I just want to meet one humble and open minded person who wants to learn so I show him or her what God is showing me.
