My interview with Mr. Jimmie Thomas, the 2nd Great Grandson of Odila Maxwell, who was the sister of Pete and Paulita Maxwell whose home Billy the Kid was purportedly shot and killed in 1881.

I'm sure he would be just fine living in a shack way out in the country away from it all. That's how I live. I don't bother anyone and nobody bothers me. I go into town twice a month and get a few groceries and go back home and live in my own world. My closest neighbor is a few miles away and that is how I like it and I'm sure Bill would feel the same way

I just watched the 1930s Hico, Texas Home Movie & Yup, he sure turned deliberatly and it Does look like him to me too. I admired both Billy and Jessy James. I'm happy the truth is coming out but they Do need to re-write history because it's only Right that these men have their Ture stories told. It takes a strong person to forge through life as an unknown & an even Stronger one to live to the ages that these 2 lived to :) Thanks for the Truth :)

Someone needs to go to Brushy Bill's last house and bring a metal detector to go over his entire back property and see if he had buried anything from his past. He seemed to have a lot of secrets that he tried to keep from even his wife. I bet he has a metal box buried with some valuable evidence.

Hi Brett, Can I make a suggestion that you visit "Jimmie Thomas" and do an interview in person with some good equipment. This recording is fascinating but the audio is very poor and hard to understand. You are doing an amazing job and would be a real shame for these individuals to pass (in general) but also for their information to be lost and not better recorded. Keep up the good work mate.

@Brett so there is no dna for Brushy? Maybe finger prints in the old house. But even if there was dna, who could it be matched with? Its my understanding that The Kid had no living blood relatives? Unless they know where his mother or kid brother were buried?

Roberts has no known direct descendants, only step relatives and some distant cousins. The best hope for DNA would be Catherine Antrim. This was actually tried back in the early 2000s by two Lincoln County Deputy Sheriffs. The plan was to exhume the body in Ft. Sumner, Catherine Antrim, William Henry Roberts, and John Miller and settle the debate once and for all through DNA testing. However, the powers that be in New Mexico fought this every step of the way by filing a series of lawsuits and legal filings that eventually put a stop to it. This is detailed in the books, The Dirty on Billy the Kid by Steven Sederwall, and Billy the Kid Cold Case: Investigating History's Mysteries by W.C. Jameson. Thanks for watching.

While I'm always open to the idea, I'm always skeptical when I hear new claims about Billy supposedly having a newly discovered sibling, child, grandchild, etc.etc. The real question is what evidence is there to support the claim? Can it be verified, or is it based solely on legend, hearsay, or rumor? So to answer your question directly, no, I don't believe he had a sister named Bridget.

DNA is the only way to prove Roberts is Billy, but I don't think he was. The faces don't match and Brushy is way too young looking to be a man in his late 80s to early 90s. It may not be the Kid's photo, though. We have the descendants of Dan Dedrick's word to rely on. Some people who knew Billy claimed the photo was not him.

I've never ever doubted that Brushy Bill Roberts was Billy the Kid. Too many stories. I've heard rumors through my side of the family that hailed from Southern Missouri about the James gang and the Dalton's Brushy Bill Roberts past and right after the Civil War era about what went on and where certain parts of families drifted to. About part the family staying true to their beliefs, part of families leaving the war torn south to greener pastures of the West and finally part of the family staying in the general area.

@@reesewright7319 The video made discussing the attached earlobes was done using a manipulated photograph. The photo was retouched by a man by the name of Noah Rose. This was confirmed by John Meigs in his report to the Lincoln County Heritage Trust in the 1980s, and by acclaimed western photograph historian Robert G. McCubbin. I discussed this in my video on the physical similarities and the facial recognition study that confirmed Roberts and the Dedrick Upham Tintype were a match. The study was conducted at the University of Texas - Austin by 2 PhD scientist that used the same facial recognition system used by the FBI, CIA, Interpol, and other law enforcement agencies. The methods used in the study were peer-reviewed and verified by two separate arbiters that were completely impartial. Awesome. After watching the movie some years ago, I've always thought that brushy bill was the real deal. But brushys knowledge of unknown, or obscure events, there's no way that can be explained away. What they did to Billy was reprehensible. The story actually makes sense if one has even a little bit of an open mind.

The problem with exhuming Roberts is you have to have an actual legal cause, and the individual or entity requesting it has to have legal standing to do so. This was actually tried in the early 2000s by two Lincoln County Deputy Sheriffs, who actually opened a criminal investigation into Billy's escape from the Lincoln County Jail and his killing of Bell and Olinger. In doing so, they sought to establish the identity of the man shot by Garrett at Ft. Sumner in 1881. The plan was to exhume the body at Ft. Sumner, Catherine Antrim, William Roberts, and John Miller. Unfortunately, the powers that be in New Mexico fought this every step of the way by filing a series of lawsuits and legal motions that ultimately resulted in not only stopping their investigation, but led to their resignations. Further complicating Roberts' potential exhumation, without a criminal investigation, is his lack of direct descendants, as his closest living relatives are all very distant cousins, most of which have signed affidavits supporting his claim and his exhumation.
