i think Armand doesn't care about Louis seeking other men - he said, "Have your fun" at the bar. He's not there being possessive of Louis - he's angry about BABYSITTING Louis, he's angry about Louis obsession with someone who hurt him, he's hurt that Louis thinks he's boring, he's trying to build a house on Louis' shifting sands.
@-Arkin33Ай бұрын
Don't agree with most of the second part of your comment, seeing as how Armand himself and all he's done to Louis, is why Louis is in this state, why Louis is this severely unstable, why he's "shifting sand". I'm not saying he's the only reason, Louis came to Paris already really messed up, from years and years of abuse, loss and trauma... but, that first part of your comment is true. It's not the sleeping around with guys Armand cares about, or the killing he cares about. It's not a possessive or jealousy thing about that. It's that Louis actually had a connection with this particular "boy", so much so that he opened up to him and didn't even sleep with him. It's very much like back in S1, when Lestat first messed around with Antionette, sure he didn't like it, but the real wound there, was that he slept with her, but didn't burn her. He didn't discard her after, which meant to Louis that he actually wanted her, and it made Louis feel not enough, or lacking. It's sort of the same thing here, the fact that this one guy was so different than the others, in Louis' eyes and was able to get something from Louis that Armand clearly can't. That's the problem here. That's what he's jealous of. The rest of your comment though, I don't get why you're treating Armand like his not at all responsible for this mess, and like he didn't choose a relationship with this man. After seeing Louis' unstable mess, first hand. Like he's somehow being forced to do this or being trapped here with Louis. In this relationship, Armand is the much older Vampire, Armand is the one with the genuine power and control, Armand is the one with the unconditional, unlimited will and agency. He's "babysitting" Louis because he caused this, he's babysitting him, because he's actively choosing to stay and do so. Because he's trying to repent and redeem himself, to Louis... He met Louis, bonded with Louis and ultimately started a relationship with Louis BY choice, while Louis was so deep in his mourning and obsession of his ex husband, thay he was not only hallucinating him, but carrying on a relationship with the hallucination. Armand experienced that first hand, in real time. For years, and still chose to stay. So feeling like he's entitled to be upset, when he knew damn well what he was signing up for with that, is wild. He saw the toxicity, he saw the red flags, he knew early on that Louis would never love him above Lestat or move in from Lestat, and still he chose Louis and this relationship. Of his own free will... Finally, he's not trying to build a relationship on Louis shifting sands, he's trying to build a relationship on Claudia's grave, and Lestats tomb. With the ghost that's haunting the place. He put her in the ground, he ontombed him, he created that "ghost", now he thinks he can get his happy ever after, when he cruely stole it from all three of them. Please. Louis is treating this man far better than he deserves, and far better than anyone should. And that's the truth.

I'm surprised you guys haven't realised Armand is in love with Lestat. When Armand was linked to him, and Lestat said, "I love you, Louis. Tell him, Armand." He was unable to say anything to Louis since he didn't want to give him the option to leave. He was also heartbroken because Lestat hadn't ever said it to him and truly meant it. Armand only ever went with Louis because Lestat had absolutely no interest in him. As the series continues, you will realise that Armand is lot worse. Lestat possesses the fire gift in both the book and the show. During the first episode of S1, there is fire surrounding him as he attacked the priest in the church.

Its becoming very clear that the real bond Armand and Louise share is teh obsession with Lestat. It's sad

sometimes the episodes be so overwhelming, I might forget a line of theory crafting I said in previous episodes. But i do remember on a previous episode specifically saying that the "love" between Armand and louis is more so a triangle with both points (Louis and Armand) leading up to Lestat. but the bottom doesn't really connect. Louis not in love with Armand and vise versa. they both are trying to replace Lestat. If we did reviews instead of reactions for these we would probably be more streamlined in our word tracks. But thanks for watching!!

I think they are really veering Armand away from the book a bit. Obviously, because he and Louie were never together this long in the book and Armand actually ended up with Daniel. So I think the relationships are not necessarily canon to the books at all.
@glittermethis4 ай бұрын
@@pebsa31 No spoilers from what will probably come later in the show based on the books, but Lestat being the love of Armand’s immortal life still tracks. Yes, the show shortened the time Louis was with Lestat and lengthened his time with Armand, but what we’re seeing is still basically how Loumand’s relationship went in the books. Everything that Armand is saying or not saying or doing is all part of Armand’s story arc that is rooted in the books.

Calling Daniel "boy" is actually a nod to the first book. In the first book Daniel is only referred to as "The Boy". He didn't receive a name until the second or third book.

Calling Daniel, “the Boy” was a reference to the book. In the IWTV book Daniel’s character is called, “the Boy.” Anne Rice did not give him a name until the QOTD book.

You both were so dialed in to this episode -- relatively little commentary lol. I thought this episode was incredible. As someone familiar with the books, the creatives are doing a truly unbelievable job at keeping the plotlines familiar but presenting them in context that feels new and modern. So, just think...there's significantly MORE mess to come. 😈 I have questions about just HOW dark they're going to go wrt Claudia. But, we'll soon find out. 😭 Antwan is right, Armand sux. Never team Armand.❤ Not Bri being disappointed Jonah didn't die! LMAO

18:15 I felt the same way like despite this paralleling ep 5 and how it was less phyisically violent in someway felt more unnerved watching it than ep5 from s1. I think this cuz unlike Lestat, Armand is unpredictable in comparsion where as said you can't be sure with Armand if you're gonna get the "gremlin" or "nurse". Before ep 5 in s1 Lestat has shown how cruel and depraved he can be in subtle and extreme ways, being "extravagant" in his killings is known trait of his that he wears with pride. We saw how Lestat malicously acted towards that tenor before slowly painfully draining life from him who he felt greatly slighted him and this was over not meeting his expectations for an OPERA. With that in mind its not shocking how he acted towards Louie when he feels abandoned by him that he hurt him in such a way that essentially made it so Louie couldnt leave him. After Lestat, violence is almost expected and yet with Armand its not the same, unlike Lestat, Armand doesn't draw attention to himself, be "extravagant", he lurks in background and watches from afar, quietly stewing in his resentment for so long that when he finally lashed out you couldn't be predict the kind of abuse he would serve. The way Armand showcased how cruel and depraved he could be felt similar to how Louie in ep5 felt whiplash from Lestat using this power of flight in that moment something that been secret to him till then to drop him from the sky, like Armand showing his "gremlin" side felt overwhelming to witness for first time. 29:52 Yeah I totally agree that while Armand did wasn't physical it was just as violent as what Lestat did, however idk if I would say Armand is worst than Lestat. I think that depends on the person, i guess some people would consider Lestat a lesser evil because unlike him, Armand keeps his cruelty and depravity hidden and through the mind maniplution is constantly taking Louie's ability to choose whether he want to stay with him by rewriting history.

Yess I love this! Thanks for sharing ! I agree with the assessment. For me I love when a character fits and stays true to their archetype. So yes what Lestat did felt true to his character. And same with Armand. It’s a quite more manipulative violence, but violent nonetheless.

What makes Armand worse than Lestat is the fact that he thinks he's better than Lestat
@amyg95184 ай бұрын
I think I'm harder on Lestat because he knows the difference between right and wrong. Armand does not. But Armand is capable of worse than Lestat for that very reason. Like, a poorly-trained dog is still better to have in your house than a feral bobcat.

"boy" comes directly from the book...
@KawaiiBri4 ай бұрын
Yes they pointed that out in stream and someone address it being a nod to the books. Which I’m fine with. It just clashes with some added content in season one with Louis being a black man and being triggered by “boy” to then be calling someone that. But since Louise wasn’t black in the books it would be more of a small detail and nothing more. But with him being black and then adding that in in season 1… just felt weird.

Louis lit the original tapes on fire in the wastebasket last season, but I'd argue that way back in S1 E1, Lestat showed the "Fire Gift"...unless he brought a couple of gas cans into the church he barged into to get Louis!

Now I can talk about alot of things, in regards to people takes and opinions on Louis and his poisonous ass vipor mouth, or his overall side of the toxicity in his own 2 relationships in over 100yrs... But what I still find so wild is, people coming to the conclusion of "poor Armand" "poor Lestat" when it comes to Louis. Verbally, mentally emptionally. When it comes to him freezing them out, our keepiny his distance, not opening up, etc... because at the end of the day, they both chose this man. The chose him, they persued him. Hes never been "perfect" he's never been "good" hes never been "stable". Contrary to what Lestat thinks, while he wasnt evil or a monster, by any stretch. Louis has never been a "saint". Hes just a man. But they still chose him. They pursued him, they fought for him, and when push came to shove, they refused to let him go. Both of them literally had to be forced to. They CHOSE him. And guess what, they both abused, hurt, mistreated and broke him. In some of the most heinous and irrevocable ways. And while they both did also give him many things, they also took and took and took from him. And they're both so much older, theyre both so much stranger. They both have powers he cannot hope to match. They both had and have the actual control, the both had and have the real agency and control and influence over his, etc. What Louis does and what he has, is literally the only way he can "punish" them for the wrongs theyve done him, for the abuse and manipilation, for the mistreatment. Its the only thing he has to find with, its the only thing he has that he can really utilize to have any sort of control over his own atonomy, his own agency, his own choice. And you might say, he can just leave, except in both cases he very clearly can't just leave. He cant even die to escape. So when he spits poison, or bleeds infectious noxious pain all over everything, or lashes out and bites down hard, on the their most vulnerable spots... i say good on him. And don't feel bad for either one of them at all. Like god forbid he have any fight or defense in him, god forbid he have any boundaries or will to enforce them, godforbid he not just bow down or roll over and show his neck/belly. Godforbid he not just avert his eyes and say "yes sir. Thankyou sir" while the lashes keep coming. God forbid he be unhappy with being done so much harm, and doesn't just smile and talk nice, in return. Im sorry, but come all the way off it.
