I think what gets me is Armand's face (assad's acting is... ugh so good). Like he expects it. He doesn't even get hurt cause he expects Louis to say something like that. Someone pointed out that by this point, Louis has been getting high from the blood of 128 drugged up men he took to that flat. So at this point he is functionally a drug addict and that Armand's reaction is that of someone in a dysfunctional relationship with an addict, which I think is a very accurate read of the situation.

i had a very similar thought process while watching this show. at the end of season one when the reveal of rashid being armand happened i was like, “oh no louis get away from him!!” but as season 2 progresses, i really just think they need to get away from each other! louis will never love armand the way armand needs to be loved, they’re both desperately trying to keep up this illusion of a happy relationship bc they prefer that over being alone 🙃 also i think devils minion probably still happened, the whole “alice” scene is ep2 is so odd and i think armand continuing to stalk daniel past planting him at the drug den would make a lot of sense. since he really wanted to figure out what makes daniel so “fascinating.”
@cullenarthur88796 ай бұрын
You're right about the creepiness of Louis collection of drugs. I hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it. The drugs are not for Louis, they're definitely a lurer for young guys. I never thought of it like a Dahmer situation, but it really is. He has done that with 127 guys before Daniel just in San Francisco. Although, he does get a second hand high from consuming the drugs through their blood, which is kinda creepier, actually. He's getting them high so he can get high from draining them.
@cullenarthur88796 ай бұрын
@RowensARTstudio yes, I understand that all of them are monsters, and have pointed out things like Claudias behavior before. If you look at them through human terms, she is much worse than Louis. I was just pointing out the ritualistic nature of what Louis was doing and comparing it to that of a human serial killer. They may be vampires, but The can still express their psychological damage and pathology through how they hunt. All vampires have to kill to survive, but Louis has developed a pattern of behavior, that if looked at through the lense of human psychology, would be that of a serial killer. He's not the same Louis that he was in season one, where he was reluctant to feed on humans, this is a Louis that has developed a pattern of behavior that includes luring young men by offering them drugs and then having sex with them before feeding on them. This isn't season one, reluctant killer Louis, this is serial killer Louis.

I watched this episode like 12 times now. That's how good it was, Assad embodied Armand so effing to a T, Jacob is brilliant, Lucas, Eric, they were so talented, and they were just in one room, amazing! Edited: Not to mention the fight scene, after that fight scene I had to pause and remind myself this is just a show. It felt so real, if that makes sense. It left me speechless and my jaws open. I loved this episode. And, again, Assad as Armand was perfection, down to the stare, to the mannerisms, he was Armand! I love Armand in the books, and Assad made me LOVE him more! He's my favorite. Season two is just flawless, better than season one, which I dislike, in my opinion.

@@joann3190yes, Assad really has Armand down. I remember in the book, when describing his facial expression when he gets angry, his face goes kind of blank, as if he's searching for the correct expression to make or he's feeling multiple emotions at once. I remember people complaining that the Armand in the books was Ukrainian, and that they changed his ethnicity, but who cares? I couldn't imagine anyone else playing him at this point.

@RowensARTstudio yeah i agree, i just like the contrast lol, we don’t see him kill a lot of humans in season 1 and to go from that to saying you‘ve killed 7000 people is quite funny. i do really like the vampire eating disorder thing, makes me wonder how strong he really is with enough food
@cullenarthur88796 ай бұрын
I don't think this is the only time Armand has washed Louis' memory. I think he has taken away Louis' memory of every time Louis attempts suicide. The trigger is probably always Claudia. Notice Louis started becoming incoherent and disoriented when Claudias name was mentioned. He then walked into the sun, which may not have been the first nor last time he has done something like that. It's also possible that at some point, Louis may have asked Armand to erase those memories for him.

I think Malik is at least partly a parody of Andrew Tate. His pronunciation of "Bugatti" and his puffed-up self-importance are what make me wonder. Also, Louis says, "Often it's someone carefully chosen for the harm he does the world with his chosen profession."

Lestat: had a party and drained some sailors when he snapped over Louis giving an old flame a bj. Killed the guy. Armand: let me put everyone involved through the most scarring, terrifying, emotionally devastating experiences IMAGINABLE. Let's ruin all our lives for decades :D let's do it for a week straight :D Louis and Daniel didn't even kiss, like sir please😂 under all that self-control I think Armand is more capable of horrifying cruelty than any of them, and he'd do it thinking it was the right thing (the kindest thing) to do.

Armand reached out to Lestat TWICE! The first time was when he was in the other room with Daniel, where it seemed like he was in a trance. And if you listen closely you'll hear Armand tell him that he won't tell him where Louis is. Also, imo Lestat sounds a bit weak as if he's underground so there's that. Maybe that's why he couldn't go to Louis.

I don't know if you read past the first book, Jessa. Without spoiling anything other than the tone ... I read the first 3-5 books as a tween (and my memory is so hazy I can't remember how many), but even at that age I was hit by whiplash from a tonal shift starting in the second book. In-universe, this is because Lestat becomes the narrator and is all "No no, Louis has a petty grudge against me and made me out to be a trashy asshole that I am not". IRL, I think Anne Rice realized that if she wanted a franchise Lestat had to be the foundation, so she retconned his character into something more likable. But either way, I think it's really cool that the show is trying to hold on to both versions of Lestat by giving us two different interviews mixed with unreliable memories.

I actually feel bad for Armand here. Louis is a needy, pathetic, clingy and co dependent mess with Lestat. Claudia told him as much MANY times. Armand went against his hive for Louis and Louis took advantage of all of the perks. Armand even said he gave Louis the choice to leave, Louis stayed. I like Louis, but he’s wrong.

Armand gets off on control, but when things don’t pan out down the line he manipulates other people blow it up for him (having Lestat dissolve his original Paris coven/contacting Lestat in SF/letting Daniel age and come back into their lives). The deep-seated self-loathing and masochistic nature to him certainly makes him interesting/fascinating, but it’s nothing he’d admit to himself. I’m sure it’s what Louis is actually fascinated by, ultimately.
@williamozier9185 ай бұрын
It seems to me what they're doing is presenting all the viewpoints of Louie all in one as we go. Interview with a Vampire was told from Louie's pov and he was the tortured hero of his own story, Vampire Lestat showed us Louie from Lestat's pov and how Louie had his own problems and issues, and then Armand showed us Louie from Armand's pov where he saw Louie as part of the toxic relationship with Lestat that was destroying the lives of mortals and vampires around them. This show is showing all of this abut Louie at once.

13:15 It's true that this version is fairly into straight-washing Daniel, I must admit that the "too old for it" makes sense in a way that doesn't imply one grows out of bisexuality. For one, Daniel is now more informed about the absolute hair-trigger toxic vortex that is Louis : he's old, he went through two broken marriages, he knows better than to think rushing into sex and intimacy will solve these issues. More narratively, Louis represents his youth, chaotic, full of drugs and random encounters. In season 1, Louis asks Daniel to "let the tale seduce you", and that's the thing: your memories of your young life are forever young and attractive to you. But the real wisdom is to ask the real questions of it, not sugarcoat your own memories or try to cling to them, but dare to remember the good and bad of the stories in a lucid way. At least that's how I see it
@l.josino5 ай бұрын
I think rather than straight-washing, they're just portraying a different kind of bisexuality than the one Lestat has, for example. Maybe a bisexuality typical of the time period. Daniel is shown to have undoubtedly been attracted to men, as he clearly was attracted to Louis, was a regular at a gay bar and had sex with men "in exchange" for drugs (and journalistic opportunities). But then at some point he probably thought it was time to "grow up/stop with the games" and focused on his attraction to women to get settled down and live his baby boomer life haha and probably rationalized his gay experiences as something of his troubled youth that he mostly did for drugs instead of being too aware of the vulnerable position that he wanted the sex just as much and maybe even that he could have needed drugs to have a reason for it (and cope with the shame surrounding it). Also, let's not forget he thought Louis had been intimate with him not only with his story, but that they also had sex and then not long after he tried to kill him. That's not only traumatizing but the feeling of betrayel must have been huge and he couldn't afford to come up to Louis years later and appear interested (or to have been interested) because that was such a hurtful position for him to be. All this to say, I think Daniel is pretty aware of his behavior (he's a very no bullshit person), but has just plenty of reasons not to want to go there easily.

The complete destruction of self to serve, while also being so incredibly selfish. Between Marius, Lestat and Louis, I honestly just want him to be with someone who likes him equally. That being said, when he loses it - that vampire is absolutely terrifyingly insane. I'd rather Louis rip my throat out in an emotional tantrum than the SAW trap of Armand's torture any day, he's NUTS NUTS 0.0 Lestat can't touch how messed up Armand can be, truly going to be a showdown if those two ever fight properly.
