This is so interesting! I’m currently an M2 and interested in pathology, but I honestly hadn’t thought at all about the role of pathologists in blood banks or transfusions. Thanks for putting this together/hosting it on your channel!

It's only a prerequisite to have a MD/PHD to get into a CP only residency.

You aren't the first and won't be the last. If this is something you are sure about, I would recommend that you tell your program director and see if they are able to switch some rotations around so you can do an 1-2 pathology electives before the start of the 2022-2023 ERAS cycle. This way you can confirm if you pathology is truly better for you than IM, and also be able to get LORs. If you are currently a resident in good standing, it would actually be a plus on your application because it shows that you are cut out for the rigors of residency.
