Thing about it is his show was always about entertainment rather than a hardcore reality experience. Techincally I believe Bear has the training to do most if not all the things in his shows (dude is ex military/SAS I think) but no production studio is gonna risk their star talent getting ill or hurt by making them do such extreme stuff for real. End of the day did we all find that shit entertaining? Yes. Does it really matter that some of it was fake/staged to make the show more sustainable? Honestly I don't think so.

Always knew it was fake. The first duo in dual survival actually taught real techniques and put themselves in situations to survive that were legal under US law, they both eventually left the show because the producers wanted to start “exaggerating” the situations and making “non-authentic”. A lot of the situations Bear Grylls is in, in the show isn’t legal for the producers to allow him to be in under us law lol. That why there is a disclaimer stating that if the duo end up in real danger the crew are legally required to give assistance and aid if necessary lol.
