I have owned two Land Rover products, a Discovery and a Range Rover S/C 5 litre. The Discovery was awful; it had never been serviced, used as a van and showed a lack of care when things started going wrong at 100, 000 miles. That was when I discovered the true (lack of) history. The Range Rover has a full history and apart from a little interior wear was in good shape. Nothing has gone wrong (but I took a warranty in case). I have had 4 Porsches, including a Cayenne. That was full of design faults, e.g. a plastic cooling system in the V of the V8. I had many problems with that car, which had a full Porsche history. My Panamera Turbo was the same, and my 997 threw a belt due to a water pump seal. They can all go wrong and do, but mitigate by looking after them all correctly, and not on the super cheap.

I’d hoped that it was going to be more about the hybrid part of the Range Rover, rather than mostly about the aspects of a Range Rover we’ve seen before. Your dismissal of some of the extras says a lot: 1. Soft close doors are very useful when you don’t want to wake the family and/or neighbours early in the morning, or late at night. Perhaps you’re not that bothered about slamming doors? 2. Side steps are very handy for those with short legs, or elderly and infirm relatives who can otherwise struggle. They help to get back in the car in tight spaces (when it’s best to stand up on the rear section of the step before getting in) and they make it much easier to step over deep mud and puddles, especially when opening and closing farm gates and having to step over where the sheep congregate and 💩 by the gate. If it’s really bad, the passenger, that got out to deal with gate, can hold on to the roof rail and ride the side step to fresh grass to clean their boots before getting back in the car! Buy the proper fixed side steps are a quarter of the price and they help keep the sides of the car from getting splattered in mud while, if you leave the suspension in high when you park, the help to fend off door dings from generic cars 👍 Lastly fixed side steps keep the crud from inundating and bypassing the rubber seal along the bottom of the doors.

First thing I did with my 2013 model was cut out the LR satnav and set it up for Apple CarPlay. And btw, side steps are for us oldies.

@Jon-zj2nj4 жыл бұрын
Same here, love mine but, over 27 months and 75,000 miles from new, I’ve averaged a genuine 26.06 mpg in my SDV8. Which, from previous calculations, makes it usefully cheaper than the P400e to fuel for the sorts of journeys that I do.
@djb73024 жыл бұрын
When you say ‘much more power’, the sdv8 has 339 bhp and this has 400bhp, so I’d say it has less.

I think the RR Hybrid is not a bad vehicle in principle. But the tiny 2.0 4 cylinder engine is just damn horrible. It needs to work really hard in the heavy RR. It is not a good fit at all. It is just extremely unpleasant and noisy. To make it worthy of the being a RR it should have a 3 litre V6 petrol hybrid setup. In the meantime, if you're after a hybrid then a Lexus RX or BMW X5 hybrid are a much better option.

A couple of minor points: The gesture roof blind is now deleted, it is a normal button only (and that is a good thing since the gesture control was just a gimmick). The £4k Signature sound system is 29 speakers (23 speakers in the Sport), and you cannot specify that on a base Vogue, which is the model seen here. The Vogue P400e has an upgraded hifi as standard vs diesel and petrol Vogues which otherwise come with the puny 380W system. The Vogue & Vogue SE are not available with real leather dash toppers (facia front only)... only the Autobiography (AB) and above have a real leather dash topper. It's weird you cannot upgrade to extended leather like you can with a RR Sport, for example. The Vogue also has fake leather on the door cards, unlike Vogue SE and AB which is pretty ugly (as shown in this video), but it depends what you're used to, heh heh.

Nice review, but shocking to see that landrover charges 6,000 pounds (or Euros) for a different colour. Is the queen painting them or what? BMW charges for special colour 2,000 pounds, Porsche does the same. So there is no reason why the landrover should be using such rediculous pricing for a different colour....

Great review sir, I Absolutely love the way it looks n all the Luxuriousness etc etc, however wot about the Legendary Landover UNRELIABILITY. I saw something a few weeks ago that Range Rover was voted the most UNRELIABLE car in the UK. What in your professional opinion do u have to say bout that?
@Jon-zj2nj4 жыл бұрын
Abdul Aziz Kazee You don’t want to pay much attention to all of the hype and hysteria around Land Rover unreliability. Yes, like any cars, they can have issues, but it’s blown out of all proportion; I’ve owned and driven vehicles from lots of different manufactures, clocking up at least 35,000 miles a year since 1985; I’ve driven a lot worse, but none better and that’s based on the experience of six different Land Rover vehicles.
@johnjones93034 жыл бұрын
Abdul i had a RR for 8 and a half years it cost me less than 2000 pounds in repairs mots and services which is cheaper than a pedal bike and much more comfortable

@@johnjones9303 thanks for that, I thought that it could just be all blown out of proportion, but it always better to check all avenues before laying down the type of cash that a RR costs. Actually I went L Rover last Friday and ordered me 1, the Range Rover Sport 3.0 SDV6 HSE. Listen to this they had a special going, u coukd order any none Autobiography Ranger Rover and spec it to have Autobiography interior and that's exactly what I done.

I wonder why no one says how shit and unreliable this car is, in China p400e offered 50% off from the original price, and the dealer actually asks the buyers to sign a no obligation form before hand in case anything goes wrong! and it always goes wrong with this model 2017 made. no one can own it more than 3 days without having troubles, seriously that bad.

RANGE ROVER SUCKS! Luxury expensive car but: Read this nightmare before buying one. New 2020 RR PHEV I bought 3 months ago from Official dealer in GA had orange engine light turned on when I came back home, still turned on after 3 times back to dealer service with changing different parts. Now has been at service 4th time for last month and they said that all this model cars in the world will be recalled for new hybride software that will be ready at the end of September 2020. 3 months after buying a new very expensive car, still stuck to service. Dealer said that JLR refused replacement because any car they replace will need the same software update all p400e models in the world will be recalled. JLR used my car as a lab to find a common defect but still not replaced or refunded.
