@InTheShop3 жыл бұрын
If the filters are good and the blue spring kit was OEM I would start by checking for air being pulled into the system or a restriction before the pump. If there are no cracked lines and you have no restrictions the pump is likely weak.

Thanks. For checking the fuel pressure, I bought the ford fitting from amazon and then purchased 5 foot 1/4" air host extension and a pressure gage from Harbor Freight and worked great. Hey there, so my 6.0 just died on me coming over a mountain pass almost a month ago, truck just died. checked my codes right away and the Icp sensor with low voltage code came up. almost froze to death waiting for a ride, I think it got down to -10 that night. Any way, bought the new sensor but upon installing it, no low voltage code after, but no HPOP pressure and the Ipr was at 84.7 percent. Changed the oil, changed the fuel filters. I then unplugged the sensor, and the HPOP oil pressure went to 1000 psi and the Ipr was at 49.5 percent, still no start. checked the fuel pressure, key on and it went to 50 psi. Went thru all the fuses. the injectors are rattling key to start, checked my ficm plugs today, am I missing something? Replaced my FICM 2 years ago plus The IPR, truck was running sweetly, no indication of anything it just stopped running, I thought I heard it miss just before the failure. Any thoughts. I just need to know what I need to order and replace, I'm no slouch with a wrench, now that its warmer I can work on it. This one has me stumped, hope ur well and happy. So you said minimum you like to see 60 but 70s preferable well ever since I've done that kit and the banjo bolts I'm seeing 95 to a 100. I drilled and tapped aluminum cap for the fuel filter and ran a steel braided line to a mechanical gauge under the hood and at idle it's seeing 95 PSI to 100 PSI. I keep reading threads that are saying I'm going to blow oil rings on the injectors but then I also read ones that say at least 70 PSI is preferable so since I'm 25 psi over the preferable is that really going to blow out the O-ring? With the explination that you just said on the plunger with the injector it sounds like higher PSI would be a good thing.
@InTheShop6 жыл бұрын
john andersen 95-100 is way too high. Running pressures like that can definitely cause the o-rings to blow out. Did you use a ford kit or an aftermarket kit?

This is my fuel pressure in this video for 2006 6.0: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5CpfIpuhsuFm7c Having a no start issue, already gone through all the dieseltechron procedures and I'm down to the pump, a leak, or bad injectors. Or some phantom problem. I'm sure some loss could be from the gauge not being perfectly sealed and having the gaskets on the regulator probably being leaky but where else would it be leaking? Is it possible that it's the fuel pump? Can you lose pressure from bad injectors on the pre cycle? I'm going to install the blue spring kit this weekend and I have a new pump coming but I wont be too surprised if mine is fine. I also have a professional cap style pressure gauge coming too so I know it isnt the issue and can get dynamic pressure. Pressure is no better than 5 psi until cranking I get 15 psi. After I stop cranking it shoots to 60 or so from suction? Hope someone has seen this problem before... Also, I need to do the bubble test I will do it this weekend as well after I put the spring kit on.
@InTheShop5 жыл бұрын
In my experience the regulator won’t cause the pressure to be that low. I would still install the blue spring anyway as that’s a great upgrade. The pump could definitely be weak. Other things that I have seen cause that are a crack in a line allowing air to be sucked in. What kind of chassis is the truck? Is it a pickup or a cab and chassis with an after axle tank? The after axle tanks are known to delaminate inside and cause the fuel system to plug up. As far as injectors go, if you had an injector bad enough to cause pressure that low your oil would be completely full of fuel or you would have a cylinder hydro-lock. Hopefully there is enough info there to give you a direction to go.
@WCGwkf5 жыл бұрын
@@InTheShop just got it so I'm new to details of it, crew cab 4 full doors, long bed i believe but has a utility body, 4x4 and I do believe the tank is behind the axle, I'll have to double check that. @@InTheShop I put the blue spring kit in and did the bubble test. Put the old pump back on and cycled 5 times and it was still pushing a lot of air out the feed line but once settled i never saw any bubbles coming out running the remote starter line crank. If not I guess it would be time to tear down the top and replace the dummy plugs, check ipr valve and replace those parts, and check injectors. Bubble test kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3K9mmelh89jhMU
