I'm an INFJ married to an INTJ. As a (very) general rule, I would seem more approachable and more ready to listen to people. However, my INTJ husband can flip a switch when he decides to be friendly and I may be secretly judging people for being illogical, even as I am listening with empathy and affirming them. Sometimes we INFJs are jerks.
@kejewa3 жыл бұрын
@blah blah Hey blah blah, I don't know if it is linked to our self-worth so much as it is to our desire for accuracy and truth: not just that we are right, but that everyone should be. I know I hate for anyone to be wrong! :-D As for how we handle correction when we are wrong, that may be a little more of an individual thing. It's kind of hard to judge the invisible thought processes of an introverted thinker and INFJs do not have the same facility with expressing our thinking accurately as say, an INTP. That could make us lash out emotionally, but beneath the surface our thinking will go into overdrive, looking for what we may have wrong and we will course-correct. An INFj is more likely to be annoyed if you correct them in an insensitive way. I know my INTJ husband is probably amused by my focus on accuracy, while he is more about expedience.

(INFP) I'm very fortunate as I've had relationships with both an INTJ and an INFJ. The video is a great description of both types. As the unpaid therapists of the world, INFP's can get an intimate understanding of those in their lives. INTJ - She would tell me how she felt every emotion people are supposed to feel but couldn't formulate a way to effectively express them. Frustrated at times, she would express grievances to why she couldn't do so and through her expressions would do the very thing she felt she couldn't. My emotional way of looking and describing things things helped her feel acknowledged and "gave her world depth". INFJ - Her presence alone was soothing. I would listen to her future forward way of thinking out loud and in doing so she would understand what and how to structure the things she was going to do next. I could tell she felt that someone was listening to her for a change as she became more relaxed with each passing plan and thought. For either one, I could do this tirelessly. When someone benefits from your time and makes progress in their lives as a result, that is an investment paid back with interest. (What can I say. INFP's are hopeless romantics after all)

@elisa46203 жыл бұрын
@@jays7259 I think you are being unfair with this statement. From my experience INFPs don't always "listen and understand", quite the contrary for some of them. As an example (among other) my mother, an INFP, is extremely judgmental and any debate/discussion is impossible if she disagrees. She cares about me a lot. But she can be very harsh if I don't make the decisions SHE thinks are the best according to her lifestyle, values, opinions, etc. And has gaslighted me more than once. The worst is that while she is aware of not being perfect, whenever I gather the courage to tell her what's problematic and hurtful about her behavior she refuses to acknowledge it, therefore it will ever change. And then she is surprised that I'm not open... I think a lot of types, not just INFJ, INFP or ENFJ, have the potential to listen and understand granted they are mature, healthy and open-minded enough.

I am INFJ and my husband is INTJ. I loved this video. @omdam94 жыл бұрын
Now, usually, an INTJ wouldn't mistake himself for an INFJ, we are just too rational to consider the possibility of an Fe in our functions. I understand that, in moments when an INFJ is in "logical mode" (which they do frequently) may mistake themselves as INTJs. Also, I've always found that INFJs has some sort of ... aura around them, a feeling of zenitude that you can't find elsewhere. People automatically like them (in general), which is the polar opposite of the energy emitted by an INTJ. Also, to the external eyes, a friendship with an INTJ can be, and I quote some people I lost, "exhausting". I let you interpret this as you like in the comments if you want. Nevertheless, I know 2 INFJs girls, they are great friends and I'd like to have more of them (I'm describing them like Pokemons but you get my point)

I went back and forth for years between these two types and finally was typed as ENTJ which was a shock. Being a loner and very independent, I didn't realize I could be an extrovert. Once it finally clicked, though, I can see it. I was that little kid at the curb selling vegetables while everybody else was off playing. I get bored "having fun" and love doing yard work. The highlight of my summer is when I work myself half to death selling fireworks and make thousands of dollars in two weeks - why is it so satisfying? I don't know, lol One of the big cues (which I was missing) is the way I can immediately think of the steps - 1, 2, 3, 4 - to reach any goal or complete any project. I further spoke to my professor (clinical psychologist & Jungian psychoanalyst) about my debating and he brilliantly was able to relate to me on my level (did a degree in Logic & Philosophy) and asked me if I were a Schopenhauer (INFJ) or a Nietzsche (INTJ). And that really cleared things up for me. Sometimes it really helps to be the presepctive of someone with a deep understanding on the topic. To understand what it is you've got to look into the cognitive functions. Since you've got your perceiving axis pinpointed, you just have to look at the judging axis, it could either be Te-Fi (INTJ) or Fe-Ti (INFJ). Briefly, the fist balances between directly acting on the external world towards one or more goals (Te) and keeping true to your individual principles/morals/self (Fi). The second balances between creating connections and keeping armony between other people (Fe) and keeping your own self-sufficiency and a coherent personal view of the world (Ti). Look for these two patterns in your life and you'll see that one of the two fits better. There's more online on the dynamics between cognitive functions if you want to look into it more in depth Thinking about it, there's also the possibility you're in a loop. That's when, to avoid the discomfort of developing your auxiliary extroverted function, you unconsciously lean on your tertiary function. That could make an INTJ believe they're feelers or an INFJ may believe they're thinkers.
@LooneyTiksCrap4 жыл бұрын
It's all about your cognitive functions. Those letters are just code for what those cognitive functions are. My guess is that you might be a jumper and as such, it's making it difficult to determine what your second and third functions are. (Meaning perhaps you prefer using your third function over your second.) Humans are complex creatures. It's still extroverted thinking and introverted feeling for an INTJ or extroverted feeling and introverted thinking for INFJ. Hmm, one difference I see in the two types to put this in other terms is a leniency towards a preference for protecting the truth for INTJs vs protecting the peace for INFJs. This isn't to say INTJs can't be tactful or that INFJs can't be truthful, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made to maintain one of those. Also, this isn't always the rule either, just common traits. Then again, those tests could be completely off and you might be something else entirely, because they are flawed.

One of my closest friends is an INFJ, meanwhile I'm an INTJ. We have many aspects in common, and we often talk about the challenges of daily life. But I'd noticed that we actually have a distinct approach towards human contact. He's better understanding the motivations and emotions of other people, but I have problems doing the same. I love this fundamental difference, and I think we spend a very nice time learning from each other

Hah, Nathan, you're the best.💜 I just wanted to add something (bc i'm finally pretty sure about my type and i'm able to accept, that i'm...pretty sure about it). I'm a jumper infj and my best friend is an intj. We are amazinly similar. We have the same interests, the same approach to philosophy and religion, similar experiences... I can imagine that telling these two types apart is veeery difficult. I've noticed that the main thing that Ni-doms want to do is getting into other people's heads and understand their motives, it works for infj's and intj's as well. The main difference is that intj's are very good at optimizing things, they want to reform the world. They care about people but in slightly different way. They use Te+Fi so they sometimes...tend to think they're always right and force others to leave their comfort zones... It's actually really cute😂. They like ordering around and, suprisingly, their Te makes them generally less confused about their type. They are also less expressive, their faces seem sometimes like masks. Infj's usually want their face to express something (they tend to mirror feelings of others), intj's don't do that. Ok... I'm done. Sorry for this essey😅

Society doesn't expect women to hide their feelings and it expects them to be caring towards other people. Maybe that is why more women are INFJs than INTJs. I think I am an INFJ, but some of the traits does not suit me - I love debating, in most cases I think that decisions should be based on logic, oftentimes I hate when people sugar-coat things and I can also be kind of selfish. I definitely do not have the problem of "putting other people over yourself" that so many other INFJs seem to have. In my thoughts I am often very cynical, but I do not show this because I don't want to hurt people. Actually I try to repress most of those traits I have mentioned. This is because I care deeply about being likeable, and those traits are not very socially acceptable - especially not for women. So maybe I am truly an INTJ who just tries to be more like an INFJ because that is what society wants me to. Let me know what your thoughts on this is:)

It's extremely easy to know whether you know you're and INFJ or INTJ... INFJ by definitions are thinkers they are not feelers. Feelers are those who are "introverted feeling" Users, for the rest we only refer and care about other people's feelings, we understand them and manipulate them, and we feed off of that, but that's it, our own feelings are buried, I have saved so many people who I don't give the slightests of Fs about... I speak both languages and I am fully balanced about everything. The first and only thing you need to know the difference is... Do you want to save humanity? and other questions like... Do you feel like you have to change the world through human hearts?... Can you feel what other's feel?... It's too easy.

Great video! I'm an INFJ who has been called a counselor/therapist by so many people throughout my life lol. As I grew, I started valuing Ti more and using Fe less often which made me feel like an NT type, but I never valued Te more than Fe. I think the only times I engage in logical arguments is when I'm in a group of friends among which harmony exists and bringing up an argument won't affect the friendships on the long run. @drkatz119210 ай бұрын
It’s so complicated for me and I mistyped as an INFJ for a long time because I am a counselor/therapist (for my job) - but I view people as problems to solve and break them down into smaller parts to address and “solve the issue.” I sort of think of myself and people like machines, and that can help me be unbiased - but also sometimes too “efficient” or cold. Personality types are so complicated because even working as a mental health therapist I am definitely far more focused on logic than people’s emotions.

I prioritize harmony now more than I used to because I found out the hard way (over and over and over) that coldly disagreeing with people in typical INTJ fashion is an extremely unlikeable quality. I don’t need many friends but I admit, I also don’t want people to hate me either.

For years I'd get INTJ in various test results but something didn't quite match. Now I started getting INFJ result as well. In recent years I became spiritual, way more self accepting and healed myself of childhood traumas. I think my INTJ personality was a defense mechanism while the INFJ is actually my true nature as a way more relaxed, confident and empathetic person. I wonder if others have noticed a similar transition - from Thinking to Feeling - following a healing process.
@djaziko4574 жыл бұрын
I'm an INFJ and I've constantly thought if I was an INTJ because I gravitate towards Ni-Ti and completely shut down my Fe-Se. I'm working towards exercising my extroverted functions because I find that when I use them I get better feedback from people and I even feel motivated to use them often for the Fe environment I can be involved in and create (to feel part of something). Quite the opposite of INFJ, people probably think I'm an NT when they talk to me for the way I automatically refer to Ni-Ti and come off stoic and then I feel bad I gave them a misunderstanding and try to change the issue if I can (which is indicative of Fe). There's honestly so much overlap in behavior with INTJ, but I think a surefire way to know is to really study the functions and learn to spot them in video examples and apply them to yourself. It can be difficult and take a lot of time, but it's worth it when you finally know because then there's room for self-growth. Learn as much as you can until you know it. There are tons of videos out there just make sure you know that they're giving you true information. If you're an Ni user you'll most likely know or get the feeling that you're one of the two types just because Ni can make you feel like an alien. I can't find another way to describe it, it's almost like you're on a mission or something and it has to be done.

Your first function is your inner Hero, it defines you. Second, your inner parent, it makes responsible choices. Third, your inner child, it motivates you. INTJs have Ni hero, Te parent, and Fi child. We have a heroic sense of Ambition, we use Pragmatism to make responsible choices, and Morality is what motivates us. INFJs have Ni hero, Fe parent, and Ti child. They have heroic Ambition, use Empathy to be responsible, and Logic is what motivates them. INTJs want to make things more efficient because deep down we are motivated by a strong sense of right and wrong. INFJs want to help people and manage their feelings because deep down they are motivated by a desire to learn and make sense of the world. I hope this was helpful.

Your video was quite balanced and covered quite apt points. Many a times I've noticed typical INTJs on youtube who just say that INTJs remove feelings completely out of their decisions, etc which sounds totally illogical; In fact, that can be a source of inspiration for many of the activities that INTJs undertake.

I'm definitely an INFJ, but every time I watch something like this I am left feeling like I am both INFJ and INTJ depending on my environment. INTJ when alone and able to allocate time to what makes me happy, INFJ when there are others around demanding my time/insight/guidance.... @DaredeviIGR3 жыл бұрын
I hope this comment gets through to you, as I would really like to hear your opinion. So here is the gist of it. Being an INFJ that probably had some traumatic experiences during childhood (nothing too serious and I might be over-dramatizing here), I concluded that hard facts / logic would be a better base to work from. Basically I've consciously jumped to what you describe as the characteristics of the INTJ, while at the same time understanding this was not my innate inclination. With no doubt, it was a defense mechanism, to protect myself from getting emotionally injured. I think this shift mostly happened out of chance, due to some events and as there was no similar person (at least to my thinking) in my environment, I constantly doubted things that otherwise I would not. Therefore some youth problems were not properly addressed as I had to work completely on my own. As I grew older I had a weird deconstruction of what the self is in contrast to the collective (I vs we). Rather than differentiating and putting them on opposite sides, I've figured they are better being on the same. I can't list the number of times I had a breakthrough into understanding others immediately after understanding a flaw in myself (and vice versa). In MBTI words, my Fe was drastically enhanced through self reflection and understanding. I may be wrong as I am not an expert in MBTI, but that does seem like a weird point of convergence between Fi and Fe. From what I've read, Fi is a blind spot for most INFJ and I can certainly understand why. I doubt however it is for me. I still subconsciously put it on the "back of my head", but I certainly know now how I can reach out to it. Main reason is because I had to at some points in my life. In that regard I do not completely agree with this split of functions as most people would say, or, I'd wager that the shadow functions are not just meant to be detrimental, but surprisingly beneficiary and tied (on certain aspects) with their counterparts (like little bridges to cross over). The messiah complex, additionally, was severely alleviated by putting myself on the same level as I would put other people. The hard logic also alleviated the dizziness of emotionally sensing people around me and would work as a compass on how to treat and judge those emotions, for the benefit of everyone involved. In a way, those two things, logic and emotions seem to have fused in my head, something I occasionally considered a blatant bias on my part to avoid the harsh conclusions. It is obvious however that I had a very strong affinity in understanding others from a very young age. In the end, I wouldn't desire reality to step over people's desires, but I also don't want desires to step over reality. Although it is considered that INFJs will pick the first and INTJs the second, I think they would be equally wrong if they were to adamantly stick on one option. Human desires can be simply stupid at times, but also reality is not the constant factor thinkers make it out to be. If we were to ask for example, whose reality? Mine? Yours, or the worlds? As those 3 potentially differ and if reality is supposed to be unchanging, then certainly two must be awfully mistaken. But is that really the case? Two approaches might differ, but also work at the same time. On the other hand, can we not argue that this pursuit of the "unchanging" reality has been a bust since the dawn of time? How many people sought out this hard, unaltering truth causing millions of deaths to its name? Nazis had a reality set-in-stone. So did the Soviets and so many others who could not see the possibility of being wrong themselves. How many lives, how much better would our life be if people realized they might be wrong? How many times has the truth/reality of man been proven wrong? Constantly. Isn't it a hypocrisy on behalf of the thinker, albeit subconscious, to disregard his numbness to emotions as inferior, only to raise as superior something that, in the end, can be equally fragile? Some months ago I've noticed this quote from Carl Jung: "In true wisdom, there is no conflict between emotion and logic". In my honest opinion, MBTI is just a set of different starts. Random events (and potentially a predisposition) sent you over to one side, but that should not mean you are only meant to be this. I do believe that this struggle for "fusion", for development is what we are meant to fight for in the end.

An INTJ *ALWAYS* knows we’re INTJ, our whole lives before the point of us figuring out we are INTJ is a series of saying “what’s wrong with people or why are people so stupid or why won’t people just leave me alone?” So we search for the answer like Mulder & Scully until we come against the *hard truth* that we are in fact the X-File as we suspected (in that we actually use logic to make decisions and live in the world). I was a Human Resources manager, I know it seems impossible for an INTJ female. And it was hard to connect to people in the way they ‘thought’ they wanted. I think my poise and perfect systems in terms of managing people freaked them out. But oddly when I left and when I see those old employees in the world today they *always* say how at the time they didn’t ‘like’ me but now that they have worked with other idiot managers they realized I was actually one of the best managers they’ve ever had and miss working with me. I think people get *freaked out* by just how efficient and effective INTJs can be because most people can’t do both with the same precision so it makes us kind of unlikeable in the moment, but once people have a chance to step away and see how their world was sooooo much better precisely as a result of our INTJness they realize how great we are to have around even if we don’t like to talk about your dog or the weather 🙄 So in truth you’re correct Nathan: if it *works* better people *will feel better* they just don’t know that’s what the real problem is 🤷🏽♀️....people 😔

The meme's create a disconnect and I didn't think I can be an asshole however they saw no Fe and everyday I'm trying to analyze the most effective means so they suggested that I'm more likely an INTJ. In most cases you're right but it's not 100%, I don't see typology as something to brag about and many people base it off the archtypes rather than being based off the functions but though I don't mind dealing with people I'm relatively incompetent unless I am close to somebody and/or safe under the confides of the internet. Essentially to me I see most people as ignorant but that is more based off misinformation and laziness than actually being incapable (though I'm sure there are many who are) so while I may casually tease them about it I don't attack them based on that. As I said because of the meme nature of the INTJ archtype and growing up the way I did people gave me a false impression but I never saw myself as a "nice guy" (which I think is common among male Fe users) but rather pointless conflict based on narcissistic tendencies was not an effective way of dealing with others. In person I am incompetent and trip up over my words even after practice which sounds like Fe Polr to me, where as I like to have things set up and have methods to my madness which suggests I'm NOT Te Polr.

I do think ISFPs mistake their Fi lead for Ni often and that’s how they get INTJ but when you actually look at how we use our functions we couldn’t be more different in how we operate within the world. There is a saying I saw that said ISFPs: think “don’t tell me what to do” v INTJs: “I do what I want”. If you really look closely there’s a Big difference between the 2 in how we see our agency in the world. ISFPs are defensive whereas INTJs are offensive.

that last point is very interesting and i can see the truth in it. As an Fi user i get so defensive when told what to do i sometimes do the opposite of what i want just to avoid listening to someone elses orders. Sounds silly i know

I feel I am both INFJ and INTJ depending on situations or experiences. I also get both results when doing the test a few times. Like there are 2 sides to me.....I want to help others to see where they should be going but if they don't follow that advice and continue to complain then I have no more patience for them and shut down, usually just nodding and smiling. I also have a high need to come across as individual and am often told that I come across cold and detached unless I have let someone into my world.... which is a very small # I guess this makes me a jumper..... and I do value highly my 1st and 3rd functions more than my second.... thank you for explaining that savior/demon idea 🙏

INTJ here. That was a really neat video. One of my best friends (of which there are few, of course) is an INFJ. Your description of the two types was quite insightful and brought to light why he’s such a good friend. I’m sure you probably get a lot of requests on here and don’t have time to humor them all, but I was wondering if you’ve done a video comparing INTJs and ESTJs. In particular, I’m curious to learn the dynamics of a relationship between the two be it a romantic relationship, friendship, or a relationship in a work setting.

Thanks for bringing up the jumper idea. I was a highly Introverted INFJ as a child preferring Ti. It was because I felt unsafe in my environment (Detroit) so though Fe was important to me in the sense of avoiding conflict and staying safe it was as you say treated as a daemon function. I knew this myself but it's great to hear that this model has been examined by others and is seen as valid by some.

INTJ here. Your point regarding the fact that INTJs can be emotional and INFJs can be rational is quite accurate indeed. As an INTJ, it has taken me quite a lot of effort to actually understand non rational human behaviour in a non logical manner. I have become good at it, but it is not still something that comes naturally to me.

The quiz on Human Metrics that gives you the percentage on each of your functions actually helped me understand this and my placement a lot better. I’m an INTJ but my Thinking over Feeling preference is only 3%, which is why a few times recently I had been getting INFJ. Makes perfect sense.

...and I love, LOVE INTJs. And enfps. I love them too. But I have never found INTJs to be cold. ISTJ, yes. But not INTJs. They never come off this way to me. They come across as if they know exactly what they are doing at every moment of their existence. They make every single action or inaction seem so intentional. If they don’t want to talk to you, they mean it. They are actually the most easy to relate to, for me. I can be anything I want around them because they are so internally driven, I can never flatter myself enough to think they even give a damn about me, in terms of whether I please them, or let them down, it’s the best. I can just be me, even the weird parts. And it’s fun to get to know them. They are very authentic to the core. No bullshit. -infj

P T funny...the one where I said that for some people to sort out their feelings, it helps to express them. That talking can get one to organize their mind, their heart. But of course one should do this with a SAFE person, a person who can just listen and may have a good sense of humor like my ENFP friend. And when a persons mind/heart is clear they are better equipped to do things like the dishes or a divorce. And then you said Eeew and just went on an abusive attack on person you know nothing about? Yeah I figured it didn’t matter my comment. You shine all by yourself. PS I’m not your narcissist. Im not your anything. And I have no idea what that relates to me, men who tell women to smile. You clearly have been hurt by someone and you are projecting.

@baileyab474 жыл бұрын
Ahhh... that’s the hard part! I like how the ENTP mug signifies their brilliant ideas and mind... so something that symbolizes the INFJ’s more inspiring qualities... maybe something to do with perception (3rd eye, INFJ stare type thing). But at the same time when I’m drinking tea I’d want something that didn’t remind me of my overactive mind and would be more on the grounding side - connection to nature/the earth/other people. 🤷🏻♀️😅

@@baileyab47 The third eye is a good idea :) If you want something that invoques nature. Maybe the moon? It has a similar symbolism as the third eye (being able to see secrets).

This makes sense. I’ve been struggling with my MBTI type for a while, unsure whether I’m ISFJ, INFJ or INTJ (yes, I know how that sounds haha, two Fe versus one Te). Eventually I managed to write off ISFJ for the most part, but my “logical mode” confused me and blurred the lines between INFJ and INTJ. The fact that they function very similarly explains a lot.
@adakilicarslan52714 жыл бұрын
I've been typed as both INFJ and INTJ by the test and each time feeling or thinking was just slightly dominant to the other (even 51%-49%). I would define myself as rational while making decisions. However, this does not always turn out this way. I mean, I care for people, a lot. Especially for my close ones, I am highly sensitive and emotional in romantic relationships. When the decision to be made is about other people, their importance to me, and what I feel for them becomes the only criterion. It's not hard for me to connect with people which I have done successfully throughout my entire life in which for a considerable part of it I have been kind of needy for people. I deeply care for people, try to motivate them and I guess seeing them happy and fulfilled is one of the greatest sources of happiness to me. In this sense, I think I am an INFJ. On the other hand, I am quite an analytical thinker. I have always enjoyed riddles, maths, advanced and complicated quantitative tasks which made me end up studying industrial/mechanical engineering double degree. I know what you study or what your aptitudes are do not determine your personality but they are useful in clarifying your inclinations for sure. I believe I am creative in the sense that I see new and alternative ways to solve problems and I always notice myself thinking about improving a system, this explains I have a judgmental and critical approach to what I see. I deeply enjoy being involved in philosophical and mind-expanding discussions or thinking about the future. In contrast to my emotional side I explained above, when what matters is something other than people and relationships, I tend to be completely rational and realist. Even though I carry a strong imagination, I do not let it get ahead of reality and instead, I utilize it to plan and visualize something I am dedicated to. These are the points which I think make me closer to an INTJ. I kinda look like an extrovert, however, this is not something I am doubting about so I am almost absolutely sure that I am an introvert. I am kinda new to this MBTI think so it is absolutely possible that I miss some important aspects. It would be great if someone could share his/her opinions.
