This is a glimpse of the reality dog trappers face. Not every day you have success but there is always tomorrow. But it is great to just be outdoors and in nature and get a good laugh and enjoy the wild life even when they make life a little more difficult.
My gear Im using:
Traps- Western Trapping Supplies #3 Offset laminated
Rifles- Ruger American Ranch AR mag in 223 with Leopold VX3 HD 3.5-10x50 CDS scope

Another great vid mate and the goannas are so cool, I remember up in Darwin out bush we scared one and it ran straight up my mate that was taking a piss next to the tree it was heading for, my mate has a nice set of claw scars to remind him of that day, the rest of us thought it was funny as hell cheers Yogi 👍🤘🇦🇺

Spotted a few tracks you certainly have some feral critters there , for one man to cover such a large area you certainly have your work cut out trapping and spot lighting to try to reduce the numbers , I know you didn’t get anything this time but it was great seeing the goanna they certainly have a fantastic sense of smell to follow your roo drag , it certainly would be difficult to protect any carcass hung in a tree from them , love following your journey keep up the good work all the best from Tassie

You sure managed to get the goannas out & about. I dunno how many species of them there are, but once I was putting rubbish is a big metal bin at a camp site. I scared a goanna in the bin & it sure scared the living shit out of me. It ran up a tree & it's head was higher than mine and half its tail was on the ground. Only other big goanna I saw was one of those perenti goannas in central Australia. Great life you got there. That property is obviously the size of a small country.

@@intothenight1993 If getting nothing is due to what's about that can be part of successful pest control. Whereas shooting/trapping a lot can be the opposite. Too counter-intuitive for some to grasp at times.

Bit of a bugger losing the end cap like that. You'd be driving every goanna for miles nuts looking for that carcass lol. THey're pretty cool critters, but absolute hell on wheels if you ever run into one that's pissed off. Locally they're loved/hated because tourists don't secure their food properly when camping in the national park. Bit funny hearing about them coming back to a tent with a couple of goannas fighting it out inside over the last of the bacon.

Yeah i looked them up and they were like $50 for a new one. So i got my father in law to make me one out of stainless steel and it works a treat 👌 Yeah the goannas certainly know how to steel stuff they like to eat and aren't afraid to have a sticky beak in tents or houses. It's very funny to see a goanna trying to run away on tiles. 🤣 🤣

@@intothenight1993 A couple of wraps of insulation tape will prevent it vibrating loose. Replace it occasionally particularly after it gets wet, rust can form beneath it out of sight. Tape over the end of the barrel will keep out the dust & mud too, but if in the wet will be an obstruction in the event of a drop of water in the barrel, don't know if enough to affect accuracy.

Do you not ever try hanging a carcass on a low hanging branch and traps around the base in a circle ? would that work ?
@intothenight1993

I haven’t really done that. But when there are a lot of goannas around I don’t like to use food based lures.

I can't remember if I have asked you this before, but what is the difference between the Dingo and wild dog? I've been working with my new dog, Maxi, she's a Belgian Malinois, a high energy dog and lots of fun. Thank you for the interesting videos!!!
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 Жыл бұрын
Dingos are wild dogs. They were brought here by the aboriginals and went wild. But they have bred with domestic dogs and some areas especially around the coast there are more cross bred wild dogs. Out here is say most of them are pure dingos but that can only be properly determined with a DNA test. Hope that answers your question. 👍
