I've been thinking about the doom loop and had a revelation about just how strong is my motivation to build a comfort zone in which to Ti-out. I wanted to be a Victorian Oxford don with tenure and a private income so I could pursue obscure academic subjects in the comfort of a Dark Academia room with a roaring fire. I just realised consciously just how much my financial and business decisions are motivated by this. I don't fit in to a world of targets and deliverables and I make my money by providing high criticality, low frequency tech support for legacy systems.

Tyler, I appreciate the awesome videos you are making. Especially that you are an INTP yourself and actually got yourself up off your sofa to do this project, and you've kept at it for a year. This alone is inspiring to me, stuck on my sofa. I'm in my 50's. I discovered only 3 days ago that I am an INTP. It's been an incredible experience, like looking into a mirror for the first time. I've immersed myself in researching it (now I know that's typical INTP behavior) I've felt like a freak - why do I feel content being alone? Why do I rebel so strongly against any structure being imposed on me? Why do I have this underlying feeling that most other people are stupid? Why do I think like an engineer, with the ability to analyze and create complex systems, but I can never get anything accomplished in real life? Why do I constantly flit from one interest to another? Now I know that there are others like me, about 3-4% of the general population. And we have value to bring to society.

Thank you! Yes I had the same feelings growing up. What is wrong with me? But once I discovered it is just how I am, it was a truly freeing experience. Now I not only accept myself, but am proud of being an INTP!

Another great video. Fe inferior is rough and with Si I feel like sometimes I have a black and white relationship with comfort. For some reason I get attached to specific forms or schedules of comfort when in reality there's other opportunities for comfort that would allow me to be more flexible and still have the same level of comfort.

This is it. As intp we always question the meaning of everything yet we are doing nothing and procrastinating all the time. We assume we will not be very successful and have great impact so we do nothing at all. But to have meaning is not what it comes first, after experiencing something new, you can then get the meaning. Thx for this video 🙂 will try to open up and be curious again ☺️

You helped me alot multiple times Tyler. From INTP to INTP. Thank you so much for doing these Videos, sometimes this TI-SI loop leads to depressive thoughts, you basically feel stuck and worthless. You have all those ideas, and know what to do to get from A to B, and finally make it- you have the best ways in your current position to be successful, you know all the steps, reasons, scenarios ... but you are still stuck in your comfortzone and continue to think about everything, and and waste time and practically get nothing done. I've also spend months in this loop. Like right now I am/ I was in one and your Video helped me. Thank you

Interesting point of view. I came to the same conclusions as you but I never thought it was Ne related. The way my Ti saw it is that I could hack Si child by expanding my confort zone. When you force yourself out of the confort zone it's really painful in the beginning but the more you do it, the more these "new things" become a part of your confort zone which becomes larger and larger, making Si child become less problematic eventually.

I just want to say i have been on a journey to discover and understand Fe and the great value it brings to the Intp. I think it is a game changer. Learning how to embrace your awkwardness and with no appologies. Then get past that and letting yourself feel the warm of other people is a great feeling. My wife is an esfj. She has been telling me all this stuff and as an Intp i truely did not comprehend what she was saying. I will probably never ever be great at it but i can and u can use it with complete success. Because it is such a blind spot you may not even be able truely understand what it means to make another person feel safe inside so you can communicate outside of reason. It is such a great function in my opinion that i wish i could use it better and wonder how my life would be different being able to relate others emotions. The fearless man has great videos and drills to help you understand this function better and use it in a positive way. Using this function will make you more social and feel more respect from others. Dont wait getting into this function will change your life and and give TI a rest. Its ok it will still work when you get back to it. Lol. Hope this helps someone who is stuggling. Dont stay stuck in 12and3, use 4 too you wont regret it.

As I understand it, you need something like a "short evaluation", which will protect you against too much possibilities. I guess that you know what short evaluation is: when you multiply a number by zero, you do not have to know its value to evaluate the result.

Yeah. Also this happens to me: I find something interesting because it's a mystery to solve. But when I've figured it out it's no longer mysterious but completely obvious so I lose interest. It's interesting how Te is called the Nemesis ... even before I encountered MBTI, I have encountered many INTJ people (with Te Parent) in my work life who I just can't compete with because even though I am just as skilled as they are, they are better at fitting in with corporate timelines etc. I'm a software dev (highly competitive field) and whenever a Te comes on the team I know my days are numbered because they can do what I can but in a way that doesn't cause project managers to freak out.

@KarlJeager2 жыл бұрын
On the subject of completing projects. With the disclaimer that I think INTP fits best for me, but if I am incorrect then everything that follows will also be wrong. I have found that the best way to get myself to do things, is to commit to do them with or better for someone whose opinion I care about. The guilt associated with thinking of not fulfilling the commitment tends to be a strong motivator, of course this can be a high risk option since if I do start to fail I will really feel like crap and not want to see or talk to the person I am failing.

Though some of my projects could theoretically lead to income, there are usually barriers of some kind. Like there is a big break in the causal chain necessary to get from here to there, that I don't know how to bridge. Or other kinds of impediments. As a result, all of my projects get regarded with the same level of "am I interested in this at the moment" and none really go anywhere.

Things don't look that easy here unfortunately. "Just doing it" requires money often. I've been involuntarily sent into retirement and social welfare due to autism, and welfare in my country means you can only earn so much extra or lose your income. So any idea for money I might have, I'd better be absolutely certain it's going to work, because it will be an existential risk if not. Small things to get out of the loop I do. Excursions, using my knowledge to help other where possible. But big leaps of faith... faith has been punished time and again.

How do Know if I’m an INFP or INTP. I always go through this cycle of doubt if I’m really an INTP. Usually I have to go back and use C.S. Joseph’s test every few months. Every time I take the test, I get INTP for my result, yet I wonder if I’m really Systematic or Interest based. Am I really pragmatic or actually affiliative? If somebody is pissed at me for a mistake I made, I typically will feel a guilt trip and immediately try to fix the issue but eventually I need retreat and the situation won’t be fully resolved until all emotions have calmed down. I get excited when I hear about some strange new concept I’ve never heard before. Even if I don’t believe it I still explore this “what if” idea. I don’t believe in flat earth but I have entertained the idea and explored everything I could find about it. Alternate ways of thinking intrigue me and gives me excitement. I explore many “out of the box” idea’s because I know I will not find truth unless everything is explored.

Ti and Fi is in the same continuum. They're essentially the same: find the best for emotional harmony and internal order. Now, what needed to be observed is where the reason of your exploration comes from? Does it comes from you personal value/internal emotional harmony? Or does it comes from the need to create logical clarity when you stumble upon inconsistency? Is your logic more detach manner, meaning you separate yourself from the analysis or you often find yourself, your personal value, your personal agenda, your personal harmony involved in your analysis? Where it start, it tells your dominant function. Lastly, Fi means you would want to suppress it's oppositional function: Te, external order, thus infp struggle more to achieve external goal. Ti dom would suppress Fe, leading to hurdle in interacting with others, feels awkward all the time.

I thought.....problems are caused by me- fight or arguments. I am changing myself but.....things doesn't seem to change. I live with my parents and I am helping my mom and dad in their daily household chores and studying. But for some reason, they don't find me enough. Atleast thats what I get from their action towards me. I am called - argumentative, headstrong, angry, obnoxious for some reason even though it is hardly that I talk. Why is it that....I am constantly asked to prove myself in comparison to my sister who is extrovert but doesn't give much hands in anything related to our family? What should I do. I constantly feel like running away..... This also makes me think... even in future if I get with another person- boyfriend or husband, I will still have a similar bad relationship with him
