oh I can help you so basicly when a piece gets captured , it is moved to the edge of the board and when you want to castle , the king moves first and then the rook comes second , moving in between pieces just like a knight when needed if you need help with what to buy : -go chess lite (most portable and affordable but no self-moving pieces) -go chess 1xr (one piece can be moved at a time => the board has one magnetic robot inside) -go chess 4xr (up to 4 robots inside which means that when you rearrange the board it will take 4x less time than when rearranging it on the 1xr version hope this helps

it looks nice...I just now wondered if someone ever did it. I'm surprirsed it's not more common, but a foundraise so far. Anyways, all that extra stuff I don't think most customers will care for it. Chess isn't a job for people who have other jobs, therefore it shold be way simplier: no led lights, suggestions, etc. Just 1 or 4 little robots that save the game, set the pieces, and move and take. People buying this, like chessboard made of wood and the physical object there helping them to think without looking a screen. if you constantly have to check a screen, it loses its purpose. just connect to the app, start the game, the robots move the opponent's pieces, if you feel fancy enable voice activated moves and takes. the best would be just have the little robots being settable for any size of chessboard, but requiring thin ones so the magnet can work of course.

If you watch the brown set of pieces on the right, at 0:16, the rook is taken and it moves the piece off the board into a blank area. I would assume it could just move the queen from a blank area and swap them out

I love the idea, but question the implementation. Ok you have 4 robots with wheels, sandwiched between 2 plates. my issues are: Each robots is powered by a lipo, you recharge with contact pins or fancy through induction. I question the lifetime of lipo. 3 years usage, maybe 700 charge cycle at best. You need to ensure to not keep them charged at 100% for long time in software. Each robots is on wheel, plastic rubber? PU? it will get dry and start self destructing with moisture. I assume the board need to be flat also to work properly. All in all I question a board still running in lets says 5-6 years. Alone letting the board in a box is dangerous with lipo. Questions: 1. Are you using lipo? nimh? you need to make a statement here. 2. are you considering selling the robots as parts without board?? 3. are you ensuring availability of part for ... 10 years plus? Again I love the idea. Did you think about scaling down the core xy in height and using 4 core xy one on each other?

yeah they better make sure to patent it properly, or someone will definitively decide to just produce robots that can be set for any size of chessboard, and little magnetic sticker (even specific nails) to place below any wood chess piece, while maybe requiring thin boards so the magnets on the robots can work of course.

yes it will especially when the opponent moves the knight but if you don’t have magnusimetry (how I call it = the need for the pieces to be centered) it’s all good , and if you want to center the pieces , you can do it - it will not break the board or something

This is only interesting with a huge range of integrations. If you can only play with board owners, that strong restriction will weaken your desire to buy.
